Hi guys, Concerning my truck below in my signature.....When driving the truck in any Edge tune, the truck is hard to rev above 2000 rpms. This is while driving normal and not hotrodding the truck. If I floor the truck, sure it will rev up beyond 2000rpm, but during normal driving the truck accelerates nicely until 2000rpm then just falls on it's face while maintaining my pedal position. This is even more noticable while towing a trailer. It's hard to get my rpm's up to grab the next gear. I have experimented with all Edge tunes and doesn't seem to matter. My boost appears to be fine. EGT's are good. BTW, i am only getting 16mpg highway or city. Time for …

Posting this issue for KyCTD since we talked about it in the chat last night and told him I would type it out for him. Bought a 2001 auto CTD that ran fine. One day he started getting on it pretty good and then it just turned into a really doggy truck, slower than any stock truck. Described it as "Geo metro being pushed by a yugo with a 30mph tailwind lol". Found it also had a cracked block. Scrapped the engine and found a 2000 donor truck which was also an auto. Put the engine in using the 2001 ECM and it ran but something wasn't right. Found out the cams were different, switched the cams and that made it run perfect. He used the 2000 VP as well, not the one off …

I have the preface this post with: great community here with an insane wealth of knowledge and skill. This forum has been a time and money saver numerous times. All contributors are much appreciated. I encountered an interesting problem on the way home from work today. I had very little “guts” at highway speeds. I normally set cruise control around 70 and have plenty of power to accelerate up to 80+ without hesitation. Today I basically had to floor it and it felt like someone sapped the power right out of her. When I got home I poked around the engine bay a bit. Made sure I had good vacuum connections. Nothing out of the ordinary. I took her…

I have a 100% stock 01 3500 SC 4x4 6 spd 3.54, 190k. Fuel psi 8-11 after filter under load, clean air filter, no codes, starts and runs great but no upper end power. I have ran it with a solus plugged in an monitored boost and it says its making 30 psi, turbo feels good, no boost leaks, we have swapped ecm's and map sensor with no change. I have down loaded a smarty on highest setting with almost no change. No power and no smoke even with smarty. I have even disconnected exhaust with no change. Has anyone ever experienced a VP failure with these symptoms and no codes? I guess thats probly what i will try next. Open for ideas though.

Drove the truck into work this morning and everything was perfectly normal. Left work at 5, it fired up even more quickly than usual, with just the tiniest bump of the key, and seemed to be idling fine. Backed out of the parking space fine, and it wasn't til I pulled out of the parking lot that I noticed it sounded off. And then it started chugging, forcing me to shift it into neutral and keep the revs around 1200 to keep it alive. I pulled into the nearest parking lot to see what I could see, thinking maybe one of the intercooler boots blew off or something, but they looked fine. I tried revving it with the throttle cable, and it builds revs pretty quick, and only as it …

Guys I've got a small leak on #6 injector line area. It's a small trickle of fuel nothing spraying or pouring out just a steady drip. Has anyone experienced this on their truck and what fixed it? I had the injectors replaced around January and no leaks at the time at all. What are the chances that the fuel line ferrel is cracked and spraying high pressure fuel?

I had a new torque converter installed about 50,000 miles ago. I'm not real happy with the low stall aspects of it. When you shift into gear it hits pretty hard. My question is...if I installed a towing valve body which increases line pressure, will the shift into gear be even more exaggerated? Is this adjustable at all? Would installing a new valve body increase the life expectancy of my 47re? It's got 215,000 miles on it. I tend to baby the transmission. I don't lug it much. Tend to keep rpms higher when under a heavy load. Third question...with the upgraded valve body can I get more control of shifting? Obviously I can select 1,2 and lock out overdrive. But the control…

2001 Dodge Ram 2500 ex cab shortbed auto, 24v, 4x4, Yukon 4.10 gears, 36” tires, 3in lift, DAP sac 7x.10 injectors, HX35 (turbo is next), quadzilla, 260k miles. Had my trans rebuilt by a local shop back in April that I’ve felt with for 10 plus years. They put a billet triple disc converter in that is lower stall. From the day I picked it up it stalls when put into either reverse or forward gear when 1st started. I brought it back this past week and re addressed the issue with them. They said they would take it out and send it back where they got it from to have them loosen it up and put to factory stall. Well it still stalls... I’ve read over the last fe…

Hello, new to the forum To get started here I bought my truck about 6 months ago (99 dodge cummins) first cummins. And everything seemed fine for a couple months then the park break and ABS lights came on, didnt think much of it as for the truck still ran perfectly fine a few weeks later I start getting this problem of idle jumping around and speedometer jumping around while driving and it jumping in and out of overdrive. (im guessing) Then just from driving around like the dumb kid I am (not being very nice to my truck) I lost my transmission, had it rebuilt by RedLine Transmissions in Boise ID. When I got it back the park break and ABS …

Hi guys, been a while. I'm having a problem with my truck getting up to temp. Unless I'm towing. But on normal driving edge on 5x5 it stays about 140 degrees. Any thoughts?

I'll be going cougar hunting next month in central Oregon in a mule deer winter range. Temperatures typically mid 20's during the day and single digits near zero at night. Can be warmer or colder. According to my owners manual I should have the block heater plugged in. Aside from running a generator all night and not sure my little 1000 watt honda will power the block heater anyway. Is there any precautions I should take? We are tent camping and don't have the luxuries we have when trailer camping.

So when I was checking my transmission the other day for anymore leaks I left the truck running. As I could hear a knock as my head got near the bottom of the truck I could hear a knock. Not like a rod knock not really sure what it was. I could hear it on the driver and passenger side. Couldn't hear anything up top. Is this normal? I have never paid attention or been under one while it was running.

This post is for a friend who is having a knocking noise coming from mid section of eng. I say mid because it really does not sound like the lower end like you would hear on a gas motor, thats how I am compairing it because thats what I am used to. And never heard a diesel lower end knock just because they are so bullet proof. He was pulling a load up a slite hill and it started missing then blew out black smoke then started knocking so he pulled over and shut it off, towed it in. Still had good oil pressure when he shut it off So we cleaned up a set of old injectors I had and put it back together and the miss is gone but still has knock. This truck is stock but for bhaf …

I have been running either 2 stroke or OptiLube in my rig. I have a 50 mile round trip work commute at highway speeds (65mph) and I almost always have some "diesel rattle", sometimes more noticeable than not. Yesterday I forgot to get some additive out of the garage so when I filled up, I had nothing to add to the tank so I pumped 30 gals of B20. I noticed within about 25 minutes, a huge decrease in engine noise. And again this morning on the way to work, it was so much quieter. I can't believe bio does a better job at lubrication/noise reduction than 2 stroke does. Has anyone else noticed this? Is long term bio use aok? Any advantage to bio and something like Optilube co…

Thinking my ddrp is taking a crap on me. Hopped in this morning and had 11 or 12 psi at idle and usually have 18 or 19. Wot is usually 12 14 now is 8 or less... Thinking that could be my power thief when I was pulling the trailer?

Just wondering if anyone here has tryed the lucas diesel fuel additive I have tryed it out on my last few fill ups and it has seemed to help my mpg by about 2 or so. I know alot of complaints about additives where they have solvents and such. This lucas pours out like a syrup almost. I was just kind of wondering what the advantages 2cycle oil would have over this stuff. Accept for the fact that lucas is about 10$ a bottle.

Now I see why they are so easy to leak. I replaced the gasket on my new motor today and the rubber gasket just crumbled in my hand.

I am getting very close to having the time to pull my head and replace the gasket. I am in need of a machine shop to take it to. @Haggar and @Manimalmother both are in my neighborhood, but maybe some others here might be able to recommend a shop to take mine to after I pull it would help.. Any input from any of you would be appreciated'.
