1. Hello all. So thew truck runs pretty good but I know it's not at it'd potential. I want it to not smoke as much and tune it properly so if I'm driving nicely I can get good mpg but then have power when wanted or needed. Just bought it about 3 weeks ago. Here are the upgrades: stock turbo compounded with a bw s366 225 DAP injectors Hot Rod VP44 Air Dog 200 110# valve springs .93 fuel connecting tubes 5inch turbo back exhaust Quadzilla 4k Any and all suggestions are welcomed. At WOT this thing makes an insane amount of smoke even when its making boost. I don't think it makes enough boost though as …

I could use some schooling of what you think would be the best way for someone that knows very little about our electronics work on our trucks. I've have read somewhat...between the net and dodge manuals so I do have a general understanding. I do use a code reader to track down problems. But many postings goes over my head quickly. Anybody care to share how you learned about how these electronic machines on wheels work? (Telling my age) I'm willing to trade...if you need to set your points or cam angle or find which coil over plug is bad...i can help.??? Any help appreciated to material that would get me up to speed for our 2nd gens. …

While changiing the oil and adding a relay for the lift pump yesterday, I finally found the small coolant leak I've been trying to find for a while. The right side of the water pump is leaking slightly at the block so I guess it's time for a new one. PO must have gotten a cheapo unit because it only has around 20k mile on it. Anyway my question is, where should I get one and should I get a new or reman. I haven't had a NAPA close enough but one just openned in the area. I have been using the zone. Is NAPA quality what it used to be or are they just like all the other parts stores? Would value some input on where to get one. Thaks in advance. L8tr …

Truck died while going down the turnpike, it looks like mice have chewed many of the underhood wires. Where can I find out how to get power to the VP44 pump? 1999 24v 2wd 5speed.... Thanks Gene

  6. Guys, I've gotten the go ahead from Mike to put out some feelers for an article that would be useful for us. Let's face it. The newest 2nd gens are a decade old. The oldest 12v rumbled off the line 17 years ago. Engine swaps, junk yard parts crawls and even "Parts Trucks" are going to become a part of our vocabulary, much like they did the Mopars of the 1960s. We need to put together a parts change article, or several articles to illustrate the changes from year to year on our trucks. Having a breakdown of the differences will let us go to the yard and know what will and won't work, and also having photos of all this stuff wouldn't be horrible either! Eventually, thi…

  8. Thought I would put in needle valve in fuel pressure line, I'm using elec gauge. In the directions, Auto meter (gauge maker) says in couple different places says to use snubber. I like the idea of needle valve, if nothing else valve can used as shut off valve to that line. Still going to put in snubber (just to be safe) . 100 DF air dog. Branching off fuel line about where motor meets trans. Question........... The Needle valve, where is best position? All the way open or slightly open? Or just play with it a bit to find best position? Your thoughts please.

I need some help, I recently acquired a wiring harness from a manual for my manual conversion and I need to see where the neutral safety switch plugs in under the dash. Could someone take a few pics and post them up of the mechanism that fits onto the slave cylinder shaft and where it plugs in at?

Look at this crap. No wonder the VP melts down. Diesel has no heat transfer at all. Maybe with some extreme temperature differences it would take some of the heat, but if it hardly changes at 1/16" over an ice cube then really, it is completely worthless. It wouldn't even melt the ice, the water on the bottom was because the diesel wouldn't transfer any heat into the ice. I know it works on the engine like the bottom of the pistons but there is a big temperature difference. I don't think the VP is getting to 1000F so I doubt the diesel is going to be taking much heat away from it.

I just installed some DFI 7x.011’s and a 62/68/12 to go with my Quad v2.0. Now, any tps input below ~7 results in a stumble of sorts. Like driving about 20mph in 2nd gear (auto) it’ll surge on and off. TPS and canbus are not fluctuating at this time. Also, has a Timbo apps in it. Im wondering if it’s a result of the large injectors not popping correctly with the low tps input. Anything over about 7 tps and she runs like a dream. No codes. Any ideas?

Hello guys, I've been working on a 2000 5 speed truck for a friend that's got me scratching my head. Truck has just over 300k on it and was cutting out randomly and would shudder and he said it was worse when it was cold. Truck had no error codes, new fuel filter, both batteries and alternator are new. I drove it my Snap on scanner on it watching live data on a graph. I could see the APPS signal going whack when truck would act up. Had another VP truck at the house so "borrowed" good working TPS quick to verify that was the issue. Truck ran great with that factory style TPS with no issues. So I ordered the "commercial grade" APPS sensor from DieselAutoPower.com since they…

  15. Installed a new ATS 3-piece manifold and ATS Aurora 3000 turbo this past week into my 02. Got it done before the little heat wave that's set in to the PacNW. Initial feedback is that the Aurora (58/78) spools quickly just as I'd hoped. Much faster throttle response than my previous Fleece (63/65). Haven't hooked up the camper yet to the truck and put it in tow mode through the mountain passes so I'll report back with more data when I do. I did intend to make a video of this install but there are better ones out there. I will provide a write up later on some tips I've gained now installing the setup and hopefully its useful - or mildly interesting to a few of you. Couple p…

Just took my truck to the voltex battery today and had new batteries installed, I figured its about time the old ones were 6 years old and weak. They put it 2 of the 65 group size blems (2nds) for $35.00 each, left there with $75.00 out the door with a 1 year warranty . I work at advance auto parts, part time and they are $90.00 each with my discount. If anyone has a battery store that sell blems that will save you a lot of money.

I am in the throes of replacing the crank seal, tappet cover gasket, radiator, and intercooler. With the good access, and since I plan to keep this truck, I figured I'd replace the battery cables. No real issue just tired of the corrosion and poor stock terminals. I ordered a nice pair from K Suspension but the install instructions leave a lot to be desired. Information is limited from other sources, anyone every tackled this job? One part that seems daunting is the many sensors that share the wire loom with the power cable going to the starter. Getting that apart and keeping it all straight must be a challenge. Any advice is appreciated. 2001 2500 Quad Cab …

It's getting time for a rebuild, previous owner was a kid who didn't know how to take care of things lol. I'm planning on 7x12 sticks for my s363 turbo. But I'm not sure which cam I need. The truck is going to be my daily driver so I need something pretty streetable, if anybody can point me in the right direction or give me some input on the cams that you have tried I would greatly appreciate it??????

  20. Sorry guys, I know it's been like a broken record, but now that some time gone by has anybody got comments on using newer stuff with less zinc and phosphor on older engines. I've been running amsoil (1400 ppm zink) for few years now and don't have any problems with it other than price and the way you got to get it if you want a half a.. deal on it. Plus I don't put enough miles on it a year to justify it anymore. Called Cummins and they use Valvoline Premium Blue in just about anything and it replaces all of the older stuff. Guy said it had 1200 ppm of zinc in it and was plenty for flat tappets, price at cummins was $14.50 a gallon. Then I called Delo and talked with thei…
