So, a little back story first. About 2 weeks ago the wife and I went to the store. After finishing shopping, walking to the truck I noticed something under the truck. It was the fuel tank. Luckily not fully on the ground. The rear tank strap broke. I knew it was rusted but didn't know I was that close to a big problem. I grabbed a couple rachet straps from the tool box and strapped it up just to get home. One home I reattached the filler neck and vent hoses and proceeded to strap it up with a 2 inch strap to hold it in place while waiting on parts. I have to give a shout out to @Genos Garage! They had the straps I needed in stainless! I replaced them both tod…

Hello,I am new to the site not new to Cummins or diesel but just purchased a 24V truck and need some guidance. The truck is a 2001 HO sixspeed. I just purchased (among MANY other things) a Qaudzilla Adrenaline with the V2 screen. I also am purchasing a FASS setup. I am doing all this from a computer as Im overseas and my trucks are in Texas.I need to know what kind of fitting do I need to run the FASS and the Qaudzilla sender into the VP44. Is it a T-fitting? Anyone with pics or helpful info would be greatly appreciated. I searched on CF but couldn't find a good pic of anyones setup.Thank you in advance,Zack

Hi all. This is my first post. I wanted to just post on one of the other vp44 threads but wasn't able too?? Anyway, i have 2002 Ram 2500 5.9 HO 6 speed with 606,000 km's (376,000 miles) probably higher because the truck has always had bigger tires so the speedo is off a little. bought the truck a year ago with 589,000 km's. Truck needed alot of work. I had always heard about the VP 44 and all the problems associated with it so it was actually the Cummins Engine that I didn't want but it was the only one that was available to me at a cheap cost so i bought it. I started doing lots of reading on the VP 44 and try and understand how it all works. I'm a m…

New guy here, first time diesel owner. Somebody traded in a 02 2500 6spd 4x4 at work with 163k. It was going to be wholesaled so I got a pretty good deal on it. I've been reading everything I can trying to familiarize myself with the truck, but I do have some questions. It appears to be completely stock with the exception of a boost gauge that was mounted in one of those pillar pods. I didn't care for the location of it, so I removed it and currently have no boost gauge. Since the truck had no boost gauge from the factory and my plans, at least for the foreseeable future is to keep it stock, is it okay to not have a boost gauge. I'm not heavy footed and …

Hey everyone, I just bought my first CTD. It is a 2001 2500 x-cab, long bed 4x4. Has a 4" BDS suspension lift, and air ride. 145k miles. I am loving it so far. I have bought and installed a BHAF already, but other than that it is all bone stock. This is my first diesel so I will probably be posting lots of questions on here. I will be driving this truck daily and eventually will be towing a 5th wheel camper with it. I would like some input on what fuel system setup, and other mods would be the best for what I intend on using it for. Tha…

A friend of mine has a 2001, the problem is that he developed a small coolant leak from the front of the head between the head and block. We re-torqued the bolts and it helped, but still seeps! Anyone ever just replaced the bolts and torqued them to factory specs? Can you get the rear ones out? Are studs a better way to go? Obviously he should remove the head do some work, we are hoping for something less stressful!

Michael seems to be such a great resource for cummins trucks that I just had to join this forum. Going to try the 2 cycle oil in fuel tank tomorrow. I'm also looking to install a new fuel pump. Stock lift pump now on 2001.5 and 161,000 miles. Lift pump has been changed every couple years, so precious owner claims.

Finally purchased a rebuilt VP44; it arrived yesterday & the swap was today's project. Replaced the factory VP44 11 years ago. And apparently, I significantly over tightened the high pressure lines on the back of the replacement VP44 because I really struggled to get them off. Modified a 17mm crows-foot flarenut wrench to get enough back pressure then I was able to get the line nuts to finally brake free. My guess is i was trying to get the lines to not leak. Now the ends are mushed over (see pic). Hard for me to believe I tightened them that much but obviously I did (I was broke down out-of-town...might have had something to do with it). …

I didn't like the quick connect fittings that came with the air dog so I change them over to jic/an fittings and new parker hose. If any wants the parts list let me know.

So the last code I had to deal with was one for the IAT... ordered a replacement and put it in... The old one looked "melted" https://photos.app.goo.gl/T5s5ek2kwEQnGqBE6 and I discounted because I haven't touched it since 2008.... WHAT would make the temps in the IAT chamber go up so fast? Burnt valve? I don't have an exhaust brake... ECM??? would the ECM somehow confuse the interpreted signal? I mean I did watch the temp slowly drop when I turned vehicle off. Vehicle did get new injectors, it is possible valve clearances got "changed", guy doing the work stated the rockers appeared "loose" but I don't know on which valves. I don't think this is a new thin…

Replaced my injectors with DAP 7 X 0.009 VCO's. Old OEM injectors were down to 3300 PSI pop at best with 242k miles on them!! Couldn't get the truck to start after that, had a big puddle of fuel under from bleeding! Installed a DAP VP 44 with NEW electronics and 5 key bumps and 3 long cranks later it started and ran the remaining air out of the system like it should have!! Original VP couldn't pop 305 Bar on the new sticks. It was really tired after 242k miles (assuming it was the original) I am not the 1st nor the 3rd owner of this truck I am sure. Plan is to now do an APPS reset and the W-T mod this weekend if time allows. S…

Well I just got thru installing a new set of DAP 50hp Injectors. The whole process went well. The most fun was dealing #6 and to a lesser degree #5. I did go the extra mile on cleaning up the ends of the fuel lines after reading all that @hex0rz went thru. Used scotch brite pads to polish them up real good before re installing them. So far I have a little weeping, just enough to dampen the head at the injectors, but no leaks beyond that. I figure I am going to ride that out a little and see it goes away as in the past. As far as the injectors go, they run quieter and deliver a little more power than the RV's they replace. They are however smokier and a little hotte…

Hello, I recently installed brand new DAP 150HP Performance Injectors. I went from 50HP to 150HP. After installing them the truck started up fine. I let it sit for a bit and wanted to go test drive it and once I put it in Drive the truck acted like it was going to stall out. I drove it and it drove fine however the truck is lopey and if I click the gas slightly and let off quickly the truck will actually stall out. My truck is a 24v Automatic. The Truck Produces 0 Smoke. I hooked up the Quadzilla Adrealine and Still the same Lopey and Stalling Issue but Drives good. It is wire tapped. I put many tunes on the truck and still 0 smoke. I'm thinking its my VP44 that is g…

First set of new injectors from dap, had to send back for warranty, put 2nd set in then had to do the same thing again. With this being the 3rd set am I just having really bad luck with injectors or is something else causing it? I keep getting a knock/ping and sounds like a bad miss if u (more prominently)coast and very lightly tap or ride the throttle and just runs rough/ just not how it should. Runs rough and knocks when normal driving the same just more so as stated above. Why do I keep getting this knock etc? Is the vp44 causing this to go down stream? Fuel psi is consistently 16psi, no codes or check engine light (doesn't mean awhole lot but..) This …

I installed a new set of injectors and bled the lines. It'll fire up. Running rough though. When I hit the gas pedal I get zero. Check engine light is on 3 key turn read offers me these clues. PCU P0122 + P1693 ECU P0222 + P1693 Update got the throttle back, fixed itself, let it idol and now it seems to be running smooth. Error codes still in play.
