Ok, I my original transmission finally went out. So I replaced it with a Certified Transmission, the Road Ripper 2000. The uninstall and install of the new transmission went great. It shifts great and everything. The problem I am having is, I believe it is going into lock up too soon. When I am empty, and take off from a stop gentle, and gradually ease up to speed, sometimes it will lock up at 40 mph, which is no problem, but it dosent act like it wants to unlock when I give it a lot of gas. I have to put the pedal all the way to the floor and hold it there for about two seconds before it will finally unlock and I will have power. It unlocks fine when coming to a stop…

Howdy guys it’s been a while since I have posted! A lot has changed in the last few months. I sold the 2000 6 speed and bought a 99 24 valve automatic trans. The new truck has 102k miles. No rust absolute mint condition all original. I’ve got a few questions regarding the 47re that is in the new rig. First thing I’ll be doing is gauges. Trans, fuel, and boost. First off I need a rundown on what a tc lockup switch is and how it works and will it benefit my stock trans. Next is they’re some upgrades I should do to help with trans longevity? Truck is all stock with no plans to add any power. As of now the trans shifts perfect. I know some people will say I’m crazy to sell a 6…

  3. I just bought another 2001.5 2500 this one is 4X4. The check engine light has come on a few times. When I do the key trick it gives me PCU P0622 and P1765, ECU P1693 (companion code). Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

My son joined the ranks of 2nd gen 24valve/auto owners about 2 weeks ago. He had owned a 95 12valve/5spd White dually about 10 years ago, so when he ran across this 24 valve white dually he just had to look. Ended up trading his crew cab dually 454/5spd Black Chevy for it. He took new truck to Arizona for his cousins graduation and his transmission went out. So he had to get tranny rebuilt in Arizona so he could get back home to Wyoming. I suggested he join this forum and he asked how. I couldn’t tell him. He doesn’t have a computer only a phone. Can someone here help me look smarter than I really am! Thank you in advance

  5. Hi gents, New here to the forum picked myself up a 2002 24v a few months back, I'm still in school so haven't got to working on the truck much yet but did notice I had a few codes when I bought it: P1594 - Charging system voltage too high P1492 - Ambient/Battery temp sensor volts too high P1763 - Governor pressure sensor volts too high Anyone had any experience on where to start with these codes? Truck runs well, only problem is when it warms up it seems to have a rough idle when not in gear. No issues starting even in the middle of winter, fires right up. Thanks in advance for the help.

  6. alright, I sold my 2002 dodge 2500 last week and picked up a 2000 Laramie slt 2500 short bed, its real nice! I like it. I had to have a new PCM installed in it today. (thankfully I have a great hook up ) so now the gauges work. but here is my dilemma , the guy I bought it from has 2 switches mounted on the lower dash, one is for converter lock up, the other is for over drive. and the transmission relay in the fuse block under the hood has been removed and 2 prongs are looped, (it does have a check engine light from it..) so I removed the looped wire, installed a new relay and leave the switches off. with the over drive button on it wont go into over drive. I check the w…

Well new to me at least! Some of you helped me out in my other thread when looking for one. Well I finally pulled the trigger and picked one up! It's a 2002 4x4 QC LB auto. Single owner, garage kept majority of its life, never had a goose neck or 5th wheel (which is harder to find than you'd think up here). Came with a 2in leveling kit and 35's and a hypertech 'tuner' to fix the speedo. Other then that, she's all stock. I crawled under to check for any signs of a 53 and couldn't find anything, so I might have a mexican block, but I'm going to keep checking. I couldn't be happier! I originally wanted a manual, but the wife said, if I'm getting a new truck then sh…

I am looking at the Screaming Eagle 57/65/12 T3, I mostly pull 15k lbs loads. Not looking to hot rod just pulling and fuel mileage. I have DAP 50hp injectors. Anyone here have experience with this turbo? I recently pulled a load into a head wind and I still had plenty of HP just couldnt us it because egt's got to hot had to down shift to cool off. Thinking this turbo might cool it down a little better. Thanks

I know that you guys have said that the HX35W is the turbo to get, but my HY35 has worked well for 250K. I currently have 100HP injectors, 5" exhaust, Air Dog, HBAF, and low fuel pressure light. I do not have an EGT sensor or tuner, and tow a camper and bass boat, so I am slightly worried about my EGT's, but figured the 5" exhaust would help keep those in check. SO, do I rebuild the HY35, or spend the big bucks to get a HX35W, as I can't seem to find them used with low miles. Oh the current HY35 has oil leaking on the intake side, so I am pretty sure it is toast. Thanks

Hello all, I recently replaced my stock turbo because i noticed it was leaking some oil by and it had some end play. It just so happens I came into a sweet deal on a slightly used BD super B. This turbo is for a 2003 cummins but the only difference I could find for install was changing the exhaust downpipe. So the problem is now I'm down about 2-3 mpg. There is a noticable power gain and broader torque curve but peak power seems to be at about the same RPM as it was before. I am not having much luck finding specs. for this turbo but everything I've read says its not much bigger than stock other than the exhaust housing is quite a bit larger. Any input would be appreciate…

  13. So I am new to the site, read quite a bit about similar issues and tried a lot of others suggestions, here's my particular problem, please help!!! Been at this over a year... It started with the lift pump failing, not a big deal, 300,000+ miles... so I put a fass 160gph titanium edition lift pump in, started and ran better than it ever had, too good to be true, drove up the street and back, bout 2 miles or so, and it died pulling in the driveway, Cracked the injector line and had a very weak flow... Now please make note when the original vp died, it didn't throw any codes, just mechanically died, went through thoroughbred diesel and got the one tha…

I am trying to figure out who to buy an Injection pump from. Most are right around $1,000 give or take $50. I had planned to buy a stealth plate and injector nozzles along with the pump... However, It has been brought to my attention, that any sort of wire tap WILL void the warranty. I have been told that most places sell the same pump, so its areally all about who you like. I really like Moparman's set up with RV275 injectors, and Edge comp box. The comp box is a wire tap box, therefor, No warranty.Questions:1. Who have YOU bought a pump from, and how do you like it?2. How dangerous is a wire tap? 3. What is a good set up for a non-wire tap programmer? 4. I know you "Sho…

  15. I should of never powerwashed the dang thing! I never would of found the snapped off peg on the bottom of the intercooler (or the crack leading away from the broken peg)... easy fix, I'll weld a 5/16ths rod to a fender washer, then JB weld the whole thing to the bottom of the intercooler.should have the new pump hung and plumbed by tomorrow... barring any new winter storms! But still waiting on the front crank seal.Son Rob claims the radiator is 10 pounds lighter now....power washed it back and forth for half an hour. Need to hit it tomorrow with soap to cut the last of the oil film meanwhile, I was under there trying to spot whe…

  16. Hi, Installed reman VP44 from DAP, no codes, no problems. But engine now requires excessive cranking to start when hot. It fires right off when hot. Truck has FASS 150 that provides 20psi all day and I've always used a protected isolation relay between ECM and the FP. In preparation for a trip last weekend, and with limited time, I modified my existing isolation relay by adding the NC relay and using the B+ from brown solenoid wire to hold FASS150 at bay during cranking. Moparman has an article on it. No noticeable improvement was seen. I switched to a FASS DDRP-02 I have as spare (circa 13psi) and truck fired right off. Suspect problem is to…

So my VP went out towards end of April. I purchased a new pump from thoroughbred with the new electronics. Immediately following install upon starting the truck I had a 0251 and 0252 DTC. I went back and forth with their tech trying to trouble shoot it. They ended up sending me a second vp. I ruled out all causes on the vehicle end that could cause 0251 and 0252. I have not shipped both pumps back to them and they want to charge me an additional 650$ for the second pump they sent out because the fuel shop says fuel contamination. The pumps had a total of less Than 5 minutes of run time total. Both pumps IMMEDIATELY began throwing the DTC’s. Any advice on how to handle…

Just installed a new to me (Reman) VP44 after my old one went out completely. During the install I took out the factory lift pump which was mounted on the block since I already have an airdog 100 on the frame. As well as replacing push rod gasket. Blocked off mounting bracket for old lift pump with a big block chevy fuel pump block off plate (Mr. Gasket #1516) frees up some space and adds a little bling lol. So original lift pump and fuel filter are completely off truck. I go to start the truck after purge all air out of injector pump as well as injector lines. Ive done this before a few months before after new fuel filters but i definitely feel like more fuel was put out…

  19. Hello Guys, New to the forum. Recently bought a cab swapped 2001 24v 5.9 6 speed with a 15x VP pump. I bought the truck not running and dont really know alot about the mods that have been done to it. It does have an edge tuner and a dual turbo installed as well. I have replaced the VP44 and still have a no start. I have bled the return line banjo and 1, 3 and 4, to the point of flowing good. I have 20psi coming off the fass lift pump dropping to 10psi while cranking. I do have power and ground at the vp plug. I have also tested continuity and grounds from ECM and PCM. Replacing the VP44 did change the sound while cranking. Before it was jus…

  20. hey guys bit of a long story here but I need some help. my truck started to run a bit rough and losing a bit of power so I checked the lift pump pressure it was at 4 and zero at wot. so I changed it out new pump pressure 17psi, then it started to start hard in the morning and showing a 1693 code. Eventually it died on my way to work and wouldn't start so I changed the injector pump and before I even tried to start it threw a 1689 and a 1693. I got the truck running no problem cleared the codes and took it for a drive and it had low power and died 3 miles down the road and the codes were back. towed it home bleed the injectors and it started again runs and idl…
