Alright so I've got this 24v project im working on - don't have any exp on them and I heard this is the spot to go... Trucks got p1689 flashing, p0113 codes. Previous owner said it "wouldnt go above 20km/h". I havent tested that theory because I suspected the lift pump. I have a FASS100gph & set of glowshift gauges going in this thing shortly but I wanted to confirm the source of these codes before i mess with them. I also am having, what I believe to be the sending unit act up on me. Fuel gauge at E, but when I disconnect / reconnect connection at top of sending unit it jumps up to half then slowly climbs down. Tested the gauges on the dash, and fuel gaug…

So I'm gonna be as thorough as I can, but sorry if I'm vauge.. Truck ran fine, had the Smarty on it, rolling coal...did some brakes and ball joints, let the truck down off the jack, cranked it and started white/blue smoking...dont really recall was kinda worried, shut it down, limped him home and parked. Later got it cranked, parked for months, drove it about 45 miles, lost compression in 3rd, downshifted and caught boost, got it where I was going, parked it again...didnt have the money to fool around with it... 8 months later....got batteries charged, oil filter, fuel filter, and air filter Was running and smoking...dash and all on, odometer reading 5…

Threw P1690 and P0336 last Sunday night before I went away for a few days (not in the truck). I just started combing the threads and Mike's articles, but haven't done any actual troubleshooting yet. Just wanted to open up a thread in case I need some pointers if I can't find in the other threads and articles. Basic symptoms at time of occurrence, though, were the tach started jumping around and then was running rough. I had seen my tach rough idling the few days preceding the codes. When the codes appeared, I was less than a mile from home, and turned around and got her home with no issues. Just got back today from a little time off and the truck did start, and the codes …

Hi guys, I’ve been troubleshooting my P1690 code using Mopar1973man’s forum and found myself stuck on step 7. The procedure says to check resistance between FPCM pin 8 and ground. My problem is that i’m not seeing any continuity here. I do however have good resistance from FPCM pin 8 to ECM pin 18 (which was an earlier step in the procedure). Looking through the wiring diagrams I don’t see how FPCM pin 8 gets ground. Should I really be getting ground from pin 8? Any input for where this ground gets picked up is appreciated.

I've got an 01 6 speed HO with 160k on it I bought not too long ago. Previous owner had installed a FASS and Edge Juice on it. I went to clean up some line routing/wiring and noticed what I now know to be the timing solenoid wires were completely bare at the top outside the sheath. I poked around that area a bit, looked over some fuel pump wiring/hoses and then quit for the night after I saw how much work I needed to do. Next day I fired it up (still hadn't done anything but literally poke the wire bundle around to look at it) idling rough, p1690 pops up (no other codes) I shut it down and decided to swap the crank sensor. No change with the new crank sensor…

Some history..laid my truck up for winter, got it out and did a oil change and fuel filter change before I started driving it. Drained the fuel bowl so I bumped the starter about 5-6 times to allow it to fill before I started it, still ran dry of fuel. Cracked injectors and got it running but was stumbling a bit from air. Lasted about 1/2 hr before it cleared but also caused engine light on with 1690 code. Finally cleared up and light out, but the truck still has a different sound then i'm used to, more of a pingy sound and once in a while it seems to stumble when taking off. Today about a month since the first case, I started it and engine light came on and stumbling…

Looking for some help... something has gone wrong! 02 Cummins, 103k, FASS150, EJWA CTS2 I installed the EJWA about a month ago... did everything myself, install went great, truck ran great. The only problem I had was I didn't think I was getting the full power of the chip from levels 3-5. There was no big difference between the two, and I had read enough and spoken to several people to know that shouldn't be the case. This lead me to buy a BD Stealth plate, which I installed Friday night. Here is where the troubles began... install went great, only problem was the gasket set I bought did not have the two Gaskets for the intake manifold. Therefore I had to reuse the one…

Hi. I changed the oil and fuel filter in my 2001 Dodge 24v Cummins, it would crank but wouldnt start after changing the fuel filter. I tried bleeding any air out from the bleeder valve and I cracked the lines to see if there was any air. I got a little air out of the bleeder valve but no air out of the lines. I got it started on staring fluid. Drove it for 2 days ran/started fine after that. Third day I go out to start it to go to work and it would just crank. So I started looking at the truck and I found that the sending unit and the plug were bad, replaced both of them now the truck will run fine in 1,2,3 gear. But once I'm in 4th and 5th gear at about 1500rpm the truck…

Unfortunately I found this code today while doing my normal checkup on my truck. I have a fuel pressure gauge in the mail right now and should be here middle of the week. And I am installing a fass 150 GPh pump hopefully tomm afternoon if all goes well.Could the wiring on top of the vp44 be shorted and throwing the code? Take it out and look at the wiring? I'm pretty good at saudering is this a job I can do if I see the problem or is there another quicker way to test the IP? Im new to this forum all advice is greatly appreciated thanks ahead of time!

I'm going to point out to everyone there is NO WAY to have just a P1693 code present during error code dumping. Yes the P1693 is a companion code and has no really meaning but... "This code indicates there is more code present in the other computer" So if the P1693 is in the P PCU that means there is more codes present in the P ECU. So if there is a P1693 in the P ECU that means there is more codes present in the P PCU. Then even in rare cases seeing the P1693 code in both computers pointing out that both computers have codes. But there is NO WAY for the P1693 to be the only codes present during error code dump. It's totally impossible! The reason I'm posting this is …

I'm having a problem again with torque converter lockup I think. Symptoms are different though. I can be driving 70 and for a split second its like it misses then goes back to normal. Sometimes at 30-40 trans shifts back and forth. When this started I got an apps code cleared it and did the apps reset but didn't accomplish anything. The alternator I had rebuilt the first time was putting out 0.1v ac but now it jumps from 0.12 to 0.34 so I know that's a problem. I borrowed a snap-on verus to do some diag and I get a p1693 fault in companion module. There are no other codes showing up and I can't clear this one. I've cleaned all grounds and connections. Any ideas?

Ok guys 2001 model here auto trans. Yesterday on the way home pulling a small trailer coming into a small town about 60 or so. Got a CEL and tach dropped and then picked back up. I pulled over and did the key flip and got P1693. I also have a superchips programmer I keep in the truck to read codes and plugged it in and I got nothing from it. Cleared codes with it and continued on went 80 miles or so and it had never came back on. Stopped to eat got back in and pretty quick after taking back off at lost speeds around side streets and parking lots it came back on. 10 miles later maybe stopped again and read codes again both ways again only had P1693. Cleared again g…

Well, I was going to take my truck in today to have the codes read because I had the p1693 companion code. To review, I started another thread about my truck choking out on the highway, where I could power through it or back off and it would go away. Then my batteries died and after installing the new ones the truck seemed to run great! Now to my new issue... Towed my rock truck to an event this weekend and the truck only "choked" a little on the way up. Coming back I had to drag my buddies trailer back. 40 foot gooseneck with two buggies on it. I'm guessing 16,000 pounds. Truck was running great, went to lay into the throttle going up a hill and holy cow I thought my tru…

Everyone says they’re had to be a companion code but they’re is none when scanning with my OBDLink. I installed new stock injectors but my truck still doesn’t run like other 24 valves. Other ones idle smoother and the engine sounds different. I’m really bewildered and I want my truck to run like a true 24 valve should. Valves have been adjusted as well. Where should I go next?
