Its not uncommon to read threads/posts where members are unaware of why their u-joint angles must be set correctly otherwise driveline vibrations will be a problem. I just ran across this 2 minute youtube video which I think does a very good but yet simple job of explaining whats going on. Maybe this will help some people out understanding whats going on under their truck. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5aCK4Bob6a0

  2. I have a 317k mile truck that only sometimes, runs poorly in the lower gears. 11k miles ago, the original trans gave up the ghost. A friend of mine built a trans with a triple disc Suncoast converter. Immediately the thing drove like crap. Stock truck, no mods, 2400rpm just to 2nd gear and BANG! shifted up into 3rd. And same into od. There's honestly no way to make this long story short. This last Thanksgiving, I spent it under the hood, doing the w-t ground mod and apps reset. So after it was done, I took it for a test run. Upon startup, idiot light indicated batts=no charge. Stopped at the store 2 miles down the road realizing I never set the 150 amp breaker. F…

My truck is in the shop I was just going to have them replace the pinion seal but then it turned into a possible bad yoke bearing now they say they need to rebuild the entire rear diff which will cost 3388!!!! There is no way I can afford that. Has anyone done this themselves could I take on this project with just a basic home shop? Or does anyone have any advice? Anything is appreciated thanks!

  4. I tried looking on the internet for someone closer. A lot of the "name" diesel shops (as in people we've heard of before) do not advertize where they are!! All other things being equal... it might be cheaper & faster to buy from a closer location. Heck, I might even go see them! I don't know any performance diesel in my area... I think I saw Blue Chip was in NH.

Evening all, I've been searching and trying things for awhile now, and still no luck. Long story.. I have a 99 24v 5.9l that I have swapped to a brand new rebuilt ppump from Scheid diesel, new Crazy Carls kit, with 0.093 lines and DFI SAC 7x0.010 injectors. air dog 4g 165, new sump. Initially I bought the ppump from a guy that needed to be rebuilt, but i installed the pump and was able to get the truck running. but then the Rack was sticking so i sent it out. Since i got it back I haven't been able to get the truck to run, 3 of the new fuel lines weren't seating properly so they were replaced. I bought a used Airdog 100, but replaced it wit…

Over the last week I've noticed some strange behaviors from my truck and want you all's opinion on whether I'm being paranoid, I just need some maintenance, I'm about to have a serious truck breakdown to deal with, or something else altogether. Background: I'm in Minnesota, and my fuel tank is full of local "Premium" diesel. Temps are ranging from the 20s to even a few days in the 60s. Fuel from the same station I've used a lot in the past, newer station, sells lots of diesel. Other guys I work with fuel here, too, no problems. I'm running my Quad on Level 2 for MPG, as I have for a few thousand miles. Fuel pressure is unchanged. Can hardly tell about M…

Does anyone have any experience with these guys or their turbos? https://instaspoolperformance.bigcartel.com/history-of-savage-fabrication I know the Borg stuff is newer technology, but I really REALLY like these guys’ story. They seem to care a lot about their craft and the product they build for their customers. I might be oversimplifying it, but it looks like he just remastered the he351cw and offers it as a true drop in replacement for the HX35.

I got my tranny rebuilt about a month ago and the tc lockup has been acting up. It sometimes locks and sometimes it feels like it is partly locked:cry: I took it back to the tranny shop for a checkup and he's pretty puzzled by what it is doing. I did play around with a mystery switch and I'm wondering if there's any way that I could have messed something up. In the process of this I had the center plug on the powertrain module off to tap into the black/orange wire and I broke off the pin on the wire from the trans temp sensor. I kind of got it back together but could a bad connection on that circuit have caused a problem like I have? I'm sure hoping not cuz I want t…

  11. Hey guys, need some help with and 01 2500 4x4 reg. cab 151000mi. my first problem is with the track bar. Bought a truck from an auction, had no track bar. On a budget so went to advance auto parts got an oe track bar, truck has a leveling kit on. Anyway the ball joint end that attaches at the frame doesn't seem to seat correctly its like there just not enough slack in the ball joint. Am I doing something wrong or am I fighting the leveling kit and need and adjustable track. Really thought its would work with just a leveling kit? Tryed everything I can think of it just will not seat correctly you can get the nut started but it dont lay flat if that makes sense. Second prob…

About a month ago while changing oil and looking over everything I noticed my exhaust manifold was cracked. Thanks to @TFaoro who still had his stock manifold. I finally had time to get it installed yesterday. My manifold was cracked much farther than you could see on the truck. Here are a few pictures.

  13. I have a 2000, with a pacbrake that I added a while back. Trans was just redone, and the VB should allow lockup in second. I want to add a lockup switch for towing and better exhaust braking. Anyone know how to wire this up? The wire you wood normally tap for lockup switch is one that the pacbrake has you cut and splice into their control box. I really want to make this happen, but am unable to get any good wiring instructions.

My question is, I just had TSI install there HD Precision TC ("the biggest and baddest" in the sales guy's words) and the only thing I have really noticed is smoother overall driving. I have read that stock doesnt transfer power as well and it still seems to be that way after the upgrade. In third gear the TC locks and it pulls really hard but not nearly has hard unlocked. Feels like I am losing a lot of power in other gears. The tranny is in great shape and has always held shifts fine even with the stock converter and valve body. Is there something else I dont understand and need to also upgrade to get the full power potential out of the auto trans or did they not instal…

Just did a bunch of work on the truck getting ready for a drive.First thing put a "stealth" plate on the VP44. Its finished but the wire is not hooked to the Edge yet. Then did the final stages of the "big fuel line" mod to the truck. Ran the large line from the fuel filter housing to the VP44. Now when I put everything back together its throwing a "PO122" code. Drives fine, fuel pressure, throttle and so on is fine. Have tried to erase the code several times using the ScanGauge but guess its popping back up again.I am running out of time and need to take a 900 mile trip this weekend. As the truck is running fine, any reason why I cannot just drive it with the yellow engin…

Hi guys Thanks for all the responses on my last post. It’s nice to find a page that has knowledge as well as courtesy. So I pulled my VP44 and found a broken rear bracket. Looks like I need to remove and replace/weld. My question is can I remove the vacuum pump with the injection pump removed or will the pump gear fall down. Looks like both run off the crank from what I can see. Also looks like a good time to rebuild that oily mess. Thanks and Merry Christmas Bill

My son has a 2002 Dodge 2500 Diesel has codes P0522 and P0336. The oil pressure switch, which is a single wire switch, has been replaced with a Cummins part and the PO336 code is troubling because there is no crank shaft sensor on a 2002. When you start the truck the instrument cluster shows no oil pressure and the tach is erratic for 8 seconds then drops off and the truck runs at a normal RPM but is in limp mode. ANY help would be appreciated.
