OK so i need some help understanding the waist gate function. On my truck in my sig i have been running a Smarty S-03 for about 2 years and I have had the waist gate both hooked up and un-hooked with a 1/8 plug in the hole on the turbo. Egt's are much lower with the waist gate disconnected. I thought lower EGT's is better? I guess my Question is what is the harm of disconnecting the waist gate?

The new HX turbo and 275 injectors look like they have improved my mileage by 2-3 mpg on my work run for the week. That will save me about $700 a year in fuel. Plus the added performance for towing. So it's not all about going fast. Next I'd like to do a Smarty.

Hello all, Im looking for a little help,i recently acquired my truck a few months ago and its my first diesel so i dont know a lot about them but ive learned quite a bit reading the forums. I want to upgrade my turbo and injectors. What would be a good combination to achieve 400-450hp goal? Whats a good brand that that is decently priced? I will be installing a 4 inch exhaust at the same time. I tow a dump trailer either loaded with firewood or scrap metal at least a couple times a month. Truck is a 2001 6 speed manual . Whats been done to the truck so far as far as mods go is in my signature.

I've been considering buying a turbo blanket given the research I've done so far. Seems the claims are real where lower under hood temps and better turbine efficiency are the results. Maybe worth it for when I tow heavy in triple digit summer heat..... But I thought I'd comb the forums seeing if anyone has some experience first.

So i recently installed some new rv275's and love them. However i need to rebuild or replace the turbo as i have high temps most of the time cruising at 65 no load or towing. I do need to test for air leaks but i am pretty sure i dont have any. At stock setting it will run 700-800 any setting above stock and im easily hitting 900+ when i step into the skinny pedal. on setting 5 it will make the turbo sing and barely the 30 psi i have it set for defuel but i can easily get it over 1200F if i want but dont like it. I do get a lot of smoke on the bottom end of each gear but once the turbo is spooled its not bad if any at all. the lag on the stocker is long though... It is …

I've been reading around on the forum (great way to learn), and notice several posts talking about boost in the 30+ psi range. I pull a 10K fifth wheel and I've never seen boost above low 20's. Something wrong? My EGT's are 1100° in only the toughest of pulling - rare. 800° - 900° general driving with fiver in tow. MPG is good too.ThxEric

Well gang... I'm back at it again... Had to build another tool for the Cummins. I built a simple cap for the mouth of the turbo out of a small piece of 4" ABS sewer line, 4" ABS cap, air hose fitting (male), and the rubber sewer boot... Here is a short vid I shot of it... I got a new hose on it... And relize there was still a small air leak remember the bleed hole in the boost elbow... :banghead:

I have a HX35 turbo. when I bought my Banks stinger plus it came with a quick turbo exhaust housing, big head waste gate and promised quiker spool ups. It has delivered on that promise but for the life of me I cannot find any specs on what is differant than stock except for the actuator(set to open around 34psi), and the opening for the waste gate(almost twice as large as stock). So I know I am not stock but cant seem to find any info any where as to what the differance is. I have not called Banks, but was wondering if any of you knew what is differant between it and the stock housing. Banks says it will not work with an HY, just an HX. I was very naive when I bought it a…

Howdy there everyone, hope everyone is well and healthy! So during this “pandemic” slow days at work has given me more free time to mess with the 24v so I have some 7x.12 nozzles that I’ve had laying around but I know they’re way too much for my he351 because as of right now I still get tons of turbo shutter, looking at new turbo options, on Power Driven Diesel my preferred place to get parts, they have upgraded he351’s 62,64,67mm anyone have any luck with these? Or I’m looking at an sxe 362 or 364.5 if I was to go this route would I go a .70 or .80 t3 housing? I’m looking to be around 550-600hp on a single yes I know compounds the way to go on these 24v’s but man droppin…

Is this a normal amount of dirt on the compressor blades? Turbo only installed a couple thousand miles. I run a stock style WIX air filter and it's fairly new and clean.

Well I had been noticing that my filter seemed a little bit dirty but never thought to check the turbo Yesterday I noticed it had an oil residue which I could of sworn it was perfectly clean with the oem filter 15,000 miles ago I just picked up and replaced with the napa 6637 part number filter Do you think my amsoil filter wasn't working so great or would this residue be from a seal within the turbo? I'm looking for opinions! When I head to the last section of road to my house there is about a mile of slightly down hill road.So I have been down shifting my truck into lower gears and letting it slow down graduallyMy thinking -- even though I have no jake brakes or the such. My thinking is that the down shifting will allow time for the turbo to cool down and prevent bearing damage from the left over heat that has been built up.Any opinions on that?

Ok ive go this new industrial injection turbo silver bullet 66.. I got edge juice hot unlock and ddp 250 hp injectors.. Now wastegate it set at 50 psi. When im towing in 5th gear turbo cuts out sounds like it when you got it spooled high and just let off throttle real quick makes that bark noise. Well it does this while im towing for no reason im trying to pull a hill and it hit bout 25-30psi and it keeps cutting out makes it imposible to pull... Now it only does it in 5th under a big load i can drop to 4th get rpms up to 2500 and it still sceems to cut out a little not as bad as 5th but i can actually get to 40psi in 4th.. Now is this a turbo problem or a fuel problem I…

So I found out my 2001's turbo is full of oil and not very happy so here's two options: I have a replacement hx35 to throw on Or A Smeding 62/64/14 I can throw on it. Truck has 100hp sticks, a Quadzilla, Airdog 150. What would your guy's recommendation be?

So I scored a vgt turbo off a 6.7 that hopefully will perform better than my current turbo(it's too big for the truck, and requires waaaaaaaaaaay too much fuel and timing to light off before 2500 rpm) but I need an adapter to bolt it to my current setup. What adapter will I need? I've been trying to find one but no dice. And yes, I have a computer to run the vgt. If anyone is interested I can possibly point you to the gentleman who made the computer kit(you have to solder it but it's not hard) and how to set it up.

The turbo keeps blowing the boot clamp off the bottom of the tube going up to the intake horn. I've tried two different clamps and it still blows it off. How do I fix this?

I'm starting a new post about a previous issue. If this isn't kosher feel free to move it. So I stated my turbo only builds boost to 22psi,then that's it. It won't build boost until about roughly 2,200 rpm, and is using fuel like crazy. It's not smoking like a freight train, but still using too much fuel. The turbo specs are: Turbonetics T3 66/65/.84. I have stock size injectors in it for now, and I have the tow tune on my quadzilla. Is this turbo too big? Or should I suspect a boost leak? The turbo also has no wastegate. Just straight out the back to a 5" exhaust all the way back. I'm thinking this turbo isn't too big, and I can …
