Long story short, I am doing the vulcan draw straw mod in my fuel module and i have to make a bracket to hold the supply and return lines in place. Is mild steel okay to use for this? It would be 2-3" from the bottom of the basket of the fuel module so it would basically always be covered in diesel (I don't imagine it would corrode). It would be incredibly cheaper and easier for me to make it out of mild steel vs aluminium or stainless. I'd enjoy hearing thoughts on this. While we're on the topic, they mention drilling holes in the side of the fuel basket, but this seems like it would be more prone to let fuel out than in. Is it necessary to drill the hol…

Okay guys my next purchase are going to be batteries.... Exciting I know but they are getting weak enough that if I don't have the truck plugged in, the grids pull them down too much and the starter won't spin fast enough to start the truck... Had this happen to me the other day which sucked b/c the folks and I were going to go into town to shop/eat. My question is, what do you guys recommend for batteries? I've had decent luck with Die Hards but I'm not 100% sold on them in my '75 Chevy. I'm thinking about Autozone Duralast Gold top b/c they are well priced and easy to get. Plus they've got a good warranty and I've had great luck with them in my '71 VW and one of the Cum…

  6. Was doing some research yesterday evening as I try to do on these trucks and realized that I put my EGT probe in the wrong spot. I installed it post turbo and from what I read last night they need to pre turbo to get an accurate reading. I researched this before I order my gauges as I've done before and I have no idea how I missed it. I know some can go post turbo but I want an accurate reading. I don't think I have gotten to hot seeing as how I only touch 1000* once before (hadn't towed heavy with it yet and I don't have a programmer.) I read somewhere that running it post turbo you lose about 300* on your gauge. If that's true I prolly wont be in a rush to change …

Finally got around to putting my Mag-hytek cover on my dana 80. It stays cooler longer with the added 1 gallon of fluid in there. It cools down way faster than with the stock cooler. I went with Red Line 75w90 a quick $150 just to put a cover on lol. Here is a pic after a 100 mile drive on pretty flat freeway.

  9. Hey guys, I was thinking today and I decided it would be very convenient to have a sight glass in my nv4500 fill plug and my nv241dhd fill plug. Maybe eventually the front and rear diffs as well. Now I know from Mike's thread that the trans fill plug is 3/4 npt. What I don't know is, the t case fill plug size, and diff fill plug size. I'm also wondering if anyone has input on anything special to look for or avoid with a sight glass for this specific application? Also, anyone have a good source for these? thanks!

  12. Hi Guys,Thinking of purchasing one of these. I like the adjustability of it & the fact that I'm using bioblends or adding filtered WVO in warm weather only. Above 10% my low pressure light comes on till I add more diesel to thin it out! Been seeing it around for about $365. And since Michael thinks the Fass Dodge Direct Replacement is junk.Any thoughts? Thanks,Dave

With the help from others on a different web site, I'm almost convinced that I need a new injector pump. Have a good lift pump with 22 psi pressure. Recently (today) cracked the fuel lines going to injectors 1, 3, & 4 and got a little bit of fuel. The front line had quite a bit of bubbles. Also have a 1688 code stating that the injector pump controller manfunctioned. Only this evening did I replace the fuel filter. Do I need to bleed it? Does it take long for the fuel to flow properly after replacing the filter if I don't. And finally, what's your take on a used injector pump (money's tight right now and elk season's only a month away)? Thanks

Ok gang... I've now got one I need to research and figure out. I've got a random front end popping noise that is hard to reproduce. Like I seem to be able to reproduce it the most getting in the driveway because of a few tight turns I've got to make and you can feel the pop in the floor on the drivers side. I jacked up the front end and looked everything over the best I could and didn't find any damaged parts. Last fall [*]Ball joints [*]Track bar Last summer [*]Wheel bearings Steering is tight and good condition but there is a good pop when it does it. Now the only thing I did find is the driver side fender is torn loose from the body in 2…

I have a 1999 24v cummins. I'm probably the 4th owner, possibly 5th. A previous owner had installed exhaust mods, fass DDRP v02, Edge Juice with attitude. I'm not sure of any other modifications. The DDRP went out on me the other day on my way home. I limped truck home. After sitting over night and trying to start the next day, truck was showing 0 fuel psi anywhere and i couldnt hear the lift pump at all. I was limited by funds, but replaced the lift pump with a napa one (airtex i think is the brand - not ideal, i know) Truck then was showing 21psi at the top of the filter cap, but 0 psi leaving the filter cap. My edge, which i believe checks psi at the VP44 s…

I need to switch my gear oil from 75w-140 to 75w-90 and Peak has some cheap synthetic gear oil. Made in USA, cheaper than Valvoline and Mobile1. The reason for the switch is my rear end chatters on turns when cold and once warmed up, it's just fine. I'm thinking a thinner gear oil could help this situation. Limited slip rear, yes I used Mopar friction modifier.

  18. Can the idle speed on a 24 valve 2nd gen cummins be adjusted? If so how? My truck idles at 740-750 rpm, I would like it to idle around 800 rpm so it don't die when shifting into drive. The truck has a Low Stall TC and it is causing the truck to die when shifted into drive. If I hold the rpm to around 800 it don't stall. Does it warm or cold. Yes, fuel pressure is there (17.5), CKP was replaced 15 months ago, IAT and MAP are new, grounds and batt connections are clean and tight, batteries are well charged, alt is putting out 13.58 volts at the batt. See this thread for history: http://forum.mopar1973man.com/showthread.php/1584-Problems-Stalling-when-shifting-to-d…
