Maybe some of you gents can help me now? Truck starting getting some bumpy rpms this afternoon. Drove it a bit and now it’s limping along with erratic idle. CEL on now. Codes I have: p0606 p0113 p0118 p0121 p0123 I read an article from here with someone with the same issues/codes and it was an ecm failure. I have the WT mods done, batts are clean & tight. I’m sitting on the side of the road right now so I thought id drop this topic. Any recommend ecm rebuilders?! Thoughts?

OK I'll start with my truck is a 99 24v auto. All stock aside from a beans sump and a fass 150. I had a edge ez but it's been removed. Also I just replaced the vp44 with a used vp44. Before I replaced it I had a hard set p1689 no communication between ecm and vp44. Once I put the replacement VP in the code immediately went away and right before I had all the injectors bled(almost had it running) it threw the p1694 in both ECM and PCM and then kicked me out of the bus connection. Still have power at the data link connector. Now I'm unable to connect my scanner(Autel Maxidas) to either, no tach signal while cranking, no wait to start light, no lift pump signal, and pi…

If I get an ECM the same year and transmission as my truck do I still need to have it flashed to my VIN? If so do they need the truck or can I just take the ECM? And what do I ask them for? Just a reflash for my VIN with updates? I just want to know what I'm doing before I go to a dealer for this. Thanks

I was thinking , How is a Remanufactured ECM programed to your Vin number. What equipment is involved? Software? Is it this big mysterious machine, kept in a underground bunker that does it? Do they swing a dead chicken in the air? Throw a pinch of salt over their left shoulder? Or are the vin number programs on CDs and they just plug into the ECM with a USB port and run a CD on a lap top computer Anyone really Know?

I need to replace my bummed ECM and got a good deal on a 2000 model. I have a 98.5. The seller, of course, tells me that it will work. After looking through the forums I hear both that it will and won't work. Does anyone have any first hand experience success or failure?!

Truck started not only hard, but funny,(like having to crack 3 injector lines),but would'nt catch after lines were closed. Checked codes,P0602 came up,cleared,no problem since. What could have caused this?:banghead:

Well I thought maybe my Ecm fuse cracked or something the day I hit the water but now yesterday my ecm fuse blew again. Wasn't doing anything other than just driving down the road. The heck could be causing this and is it something common or is something I'm going to have to beat my head on the truck while trying to fix it. This pretty much guarantees I'll be selling it too. Tired of having to fix something every time I want to drive it.

Haven't been on the forum for a while, but I think I have a problem & could use some help. I've owned my '99 3500 dually for about 5 years now. When I first got it the lift pump/ wait to start light would energize as soon as the ignition was turned on, but after a few months sometimes (about 50-70% of the time) it would take about 5 or 6 seconds to get the pulse/light. The engine would always crank but it wouldn't light off until the lift pump pulsed. No big deal, just wait for the fuel pressure gauge to pulse then hit the key. Over the years I've read this was an indication of a problem inside the ECM (the computer on the engine block) that requires replacement to co…

Wanted to use some of you fellas experience. My ecm quit powering lift pump so most likely will need to replace it. When I lost fuel pressure, engine began to sputter till fuel pressure returned and got a p0216. AC voltage is ok and code hasn’t returned since cleared. Do you think my VP is ok and code showed up because I lost fuel pressure or is injection pump gone too?

I have read here about the ground above the atarter for the ecm. will running a new ground from the battery to the ecm serve the same purpose or does the ground above the starter serve a greater purpose than just the ecm?

I've got to say Thank You to a member sending my his damaged ECM for study purpose. I know you'll come forward to acknowledge this. I figured for the sake of knowledge of the ECM why not document as much as I can for other to learn. I can say without a doubt the circuit board is mylar and securely glued to the aluminum case. It's a single sided solder setup but it double sided tracers. I received my ECM back from Auto Computer Specialist. Was told NOT to hook it up until I found the short to ground. Of the things I checked was the grid heater solenoids. My voltmeter was reading 12v across the big lugs on both of them. Thinking it was bad, I replaced them with OEM type, NO Ford solenoids. I am still reading 12v across the two bug lugs. TPS is NOT hooked up. ECM is in but NOT hooked up. The relay in the PDC is NOT installed. The two smaller wires on each solenoid ARE hooked up. I have found and cleaned up 4 grounds in the engine compartment. i have not had the alternator checked yet. Any help will be greatly…

Currently having issues with my ECM. My ECM is a 3947912. Running a spare from an 01 Ram 2500 Auto with p/n 3946242. Works but no oil pressure gauge. I just came across an ecm from an 01 Ram 2500 H.O. manual with p/n 3947912, same as mine. I always thought as long as the id number was the same everything was good. But will a manual ecm be fine on an auto?

Had a put an external voltage regulator on my truck because the one in the pcm went bad a long time ago... anyways today the truck started to overcharge, i cought it and pulled over asap. unplugged the external regulator so the truck was just running off the batteries got about half way home and the thing died going down the road. Pulled over, checked my raptor pump and it was putting pressure to the filter housing just fine... changed filter, it was not that bad and usually they do not just make the truck die, but changed it just in case. Then it started up and drove home fine. After about 10mins of being home went to move the truck started then died right away. Started …

Found out today my new reman ecm is trashed. My old one had a bad processor and SIA said they can't get processors to repair them anymore. That's why I bought a reman from ARES tech only to find out today their lifetime warranty is only on the original unit not the one they send you as replacement. Needless to say I'm losing faith in the truck and ecms. The WTS won't come on, fuel pump won't run, heater grid relays stay on and no communication with a scan tool. PCM even has no communication unless you unplug the ECM. Basically similar to my original symptoms of bad processor. From first day I had this ecm it wouldn't start until I cleared the meriad of codes it had even t…

I am wondering what ecm number I will need to get since I have convered my 99 from an auto to manual transmission? I know that it will have to be out of a 99, but I am not sure how many different ones there are for the 99? Also since I will have to get the PCM could I get both from another year? Thanks for any help, Jon.

So, back before I deployed I used to have to wait for my WTS light to come on. Usually around 5-7 seconds. Started preparing to buy a new ECM for when I got back --- While I was gone I let my co-worker have the keys to my truck, after 2 weeks of being gone he said he killed my brand new Optima red tops that I put in 2 months prior to leaving . Luckily Advanced replaced both of them free of charge and I told him to just keep them on a trickle charger until I got back. The truck went without any kind of battery connected to it for around 5 and a half months. When I got back I put the new batteries in and fired her up and drove away. I've been driving it for about a month no…

I have a new VP44 second one in a month after getting them to warranty the first one due to surging and a P0216 code. Everything from the fuel tank to the VP44 is new, new in injectors too. Truck is still surging and throwing a P0216 code. I am stariting to think it’s the ecm by past posts.
