This is a discussion forum of the 1998.5 to 2002 2nd Generation Dodge Ram Trucks with 5.9L Cummins 24 Valve Turbo Diesel power train and drive line system. This includes all sub-system including wiring, fuel, oil, exhaust, air, transmission, computers and sensors.

    So yesterday my truck kept cutting out and having no throttle response. And no wait to start light. Does this mean ecm? No codes either. Already did w-t ground wire mod. Barely started after it died yesterday. Had to turn it over for 15-20 sec before it started back up to get me out of the middle of the road. Checking alternator today. If it is the ecm, can anyone recommend a good place? I’m looking to get one ASAP as it’s my only vehicle. I found this one from Ares Technologies, but i don’t think I know what it looks like because I thought I found it and then they gave me a part number for one 2 times as much.

    this morning my truck quit running i got an ecu 1691 from what i read that this is a fuel injection pump controller calibration faliure. any body else have this and how do i fix it ????? bt the way its 02 2500 withh about 56,000 miles on it:confused:

    Okay local guy just did Ppump conversion and is selling edge juice W/ attitude(has original box all instructions everything is there supposedly) and airdog 150. I can for sure get both for 800, maybe 750. should i?I just got my 02 3500 6spd HO with jacobs exhaust brake. i've added BHAF and will be installing iispro ev guages(FP, pyro, Boost) tomorrow. this is my first diesel. I'm not completely new to them(was hay farm mechanic and now union equipment operator) but am completely new to modding them.     Looking at picking up a used tuner. I notice some tuners are year specific for 24v. I’m trying to figure out if the edge comp is or isn’t year specific from 98.5-02?

    I replaced my vp-44 a couple years ago, and had my ecm rebuilt .Since then my mileage has dropped over 2 M.P.G. ,I had never had my ecm reflashed until last month. I was hopping my mileage would improve but it didn't. I don't have any issues with starting or the way it runs. I was thinking about getting a Edge Comp box.I already have a B.D. pump cover with the tap wire, but never did get a performance box. Here's my mileage # city now 12.5 M.P.G. highway 16.8 M.P.G.. Previously I got 14.5 M.P.G. city and over 20 on the highway .I've got 20# of boost at wide open throttle and no or very little black smoke . Exhaust temps never get above 1200 deg. Hey guys, just wondering what boost readings you all are getting when using scangauge 2, and edge comp, i get like 14psi boost showing on scangauge after changing map sensor with a genos garage unit, old one read .-0.7 at idl, and would track slightly behind actual shown on isspro gauge, new one tops out at 22psi on scangauge.Thanks

    So I bought one off of a buddy of mine and he had spliced his wire to the vp I want to go with the BD stealth cover is this the right thing to do or should I just splice.

    Well on my way back to a job to finsh up for the evening I was getting back up to highway speed little heavy on the throttle and pulling along rather good and strong then BAM! It fell on it face. I look down and the Edge Comp blinked off for about 1 second and then back on. But there was no power change still flat. I'm thinking the Edge comp finally died on me with a bit more than 5 years of service. So I get to my job and was early so while I was sitting I tried changing the the levels it was locked on 5x3.     I inherited an edge comp when I bought my truck. The truck is basically stock and I can tell a difference when running the comp but not sure if Im getting the most out of it. I checked the wiring and everything appears to be correct. Should I be seeing any smoke? Truck seems to move pretty good I just dont have anything to compare it to.

    Hey guys, Just a quick question here. Can the Edge comp be turned off and left hooked up and not hurt anything? Like when you go through adjusting the sub level and the lights go off before returning to the main level? if you just leave it off is that ok? Just curious because I don't like leaving it on when I take the truck in to get inspected and all....

    Finally got a comp for my 02. I'm reading the directions and I'm having trouble deciphering where and what wire to tap. " Top wire closest to engine block". Anyone know what color this one is? Stock VP the engine is an H.O. Also, the instructions say nothing about the ground wire, can this go anywhere? Where did you guys that have one put it. - - - Updated - - - Never mind, ten pages into the search someone directed me to the Juice installation page from Edge. Alot better picture than the Comp page.

  18. Hey,Well I've got my new VP, power steering pump, and 150 hp (Jkidd) injectors installed!! I'm still trying to get the ps bled, but that's a different issue!! My question is this:I don't have my Edge Comp box tapped into the pump due to me wanting to make sure everything would be good to go before doing that! Would that cause the truck to throw an P0238 code and put the truck into limp mode??? I say limp mode b/c it doesn't seem to have much power, the EGTs won't get above 650-700* with my foot to the floor and boost won't get above 12-15 psi!!!!!I've tried to clear the code but it just seems to come right back as soon as I clear it!!!Also the code comes up twice.   19. Hey guys, so I've had my edge comp for a little while now and I'm starting to experiment with settings for fuel mileage. I also have 75hp injectors. On 3x5 I got 17.5 over the course of a week. Then I tried 5x2 because of what Mike said in the past about 5x5 being best, but I had to use 5x2 to keep smoke in check. I will be filling up today, but so far it looks like I got right about the same for mileage. Shouldn't I have gotten better? My route and driving style didn't change.... I also read some really old threads on other forums that were talking about unplugging the wire tap to get less fuel and more timing at the higher levels. Is this something I sh…

  20. Yea. As of today I had to drop my sub-level again. Getting to smokey as summer time started coming on and noticing more and more smoke as I would be towing and/or launching with a heavy foot. I'm wondering if others have notices anything like this with warmer weather? No ill-effect to MPG's at all but the smoke level is slightly higher now than was during the winter time. I'm also wondering is the injectors changing for like a break in process and flowing more?
