Okay, so I have been having trouble with the truck recently. If I let it sit longer than a day, I have to cycle the lift pump to prime to get the truck to fire. Takes a couple tries before it will fire too. If I drive it daily, no problem. I've posted recently about this sort of problem. Today, I primed by cycling the lift pump doing a bump start. Cranked and tried to pop off once. Every time after, no go. So I primed 3 times no go. Then I cracked the injector lines and primed multiple times, no go. I've done everything I think of to try to get it to fire. I have fuel supply to the injection pump, but anything after the pump, dry. Scan gauge show no codes.…

So, the truck runs, but not great. I get the puff of black smoke when it first starts, but under acceleration, I start seeing big black smoke I've not seen before. the truck is stock, with the exception of an Airdog 150, and has about 340k miles. the injector are stock, and I've lost power recently. I'm not sure if the power loss is due to the injectors being worn, or the fact that my RPM will go to zero, and the pump misses, like an ECU connection issue. when the RPM gauge is working, the truck has power, when the RPM gauge goes to zero, and hard acceleration makes it almost roll coal, with no power. I'm hoping that its a bad connection at the ECU which puts t…

I have a 2002 HO with 241K miles. It has been sitting for the last year or so as I haven't been able to get it running. Was driving along one day and it shut off, never to run again. Overhead reads ccd after about 10 seconds. No start, no wait to start light, no transfer pump. My generic code reader doesn't indicate any codes present. I have messed around with it on and off for the last year or so, trying about everything in every forum I've found. As I'm writing this, I have every module disconnected (except overhead) and no difference. Initially I had around 1 volt to ground on each of the bus terminals. At the moment, it's up to about 2.5v on each terminal. …

So I've decided on the 4in DE exhaust. I've heard nothing but good things and buying from a local and US made product is always a good thing IMO. A couple questions... When the exhauat says it comes with a "muffler replacement" is that the equivalent of muffler delete? Also I'd rather not use my stock exhaust clamps, what are some good clamps I could get and how many would I need? Thanks in advance!

Im a new guy on this forum, This is my first post and hope to exchange a lot of infro on this site, Any way I have been tyring to figure out an annoying leak comming from ps pump out the cap for months, The pump seems to Be genarating fluid and overflowing out cap. I can drain pump down a bit and it wont leak for awhile, then about a few hundres miles later it gains a few ounces and pukes it out cap, and of course makes a mess everywhere. I have already changed fluid (put ps fluid back in) and bled system, so I know those ideas wont help, I rebuilt vacuum pump about 150,00 miles ago, and there is no external leakage. The oil comming out of pump is real black, Is it possab…

I think I cleaned my cables for the last time, Its time to replace them all. So ive been looking into a set from custom cables, but for 300 bucks I think I could build my own for about 1/2 the cost. I was thinking about going with 2/0 size for both sides and using a good quality military style clamps, As far as the cable I don't know if I should spend the extra money and use marine grade cable or if welding cable/ automotive cable in the same size would be just as good. And is crimping the best way to fasten all this together rather than soldier,

The Problem: My head gasket seems to have sprung an external leak right under my thermostat. I've got a big trip coming up next month with a pregnant wife, a 4 year old, and a 7k trailer on mountain roads, so I've got to get this squared up, and done correctly (though not overkill). I'm very capable with a wrench, and have been through every facet of gassers over the last 20 years, so I'm not worried too much about tackling it (other than the 200lb weight of the head). As I move forward I have a couple of planning questions to ask. What tools will I need other than the basics (I've got a decently stocked roll away with the basics)? I don't mind spending up t…

Hey there guys... here's my situation. After having no problems I parked in front of my work. Came out for lunch and truck would not start. This has never happened with this truck, always kicked right off. I had my truck towed home, and trouble shot what I thought was the Raptor liftpump was inop, as no fuel was getting to the VP44. Had them send me a new pump as this was in warranty, and I installed it yesterday. I got the truck started, and thought everything was OK. Went to drive it about an hour later and had to crank it for probably 20 seconds before it started rough, then smoothed out. I was going to go into town with it, but as I was driving there I thought…

I'm disabled & have to send out virtually all work. I have an original maker AirDog... out of warentee because if how I bought it... mounted to the frame rail. I like the mechanical pumps but am afraid I can't send something that complicated to a shop. Wife has the truck... broken down in Vt. So I have to make choices, long distance. I'm going to have to deal with it tomorrow.

Hello guys, haven't been on in a while but now that the house repairs are done for a few months I thought I would do some things to my 2000 CTD. I am thinking of getting a performance tuner and this will hopefully not open a big can of worms and arguments, not my intention. I have a 2000 Dodge CTD that is stock with the exception of a 4 inch exhaust. Thinking about installing a exhaust brake for towing our travel trailer. I am also thinking about installing an engine tuner and am looking for ideas and suggestions on which one to get. I'm looking at the Edge tuners. Any thoughts? I don't want to install any high flow injectors or a high performance Injector pumps…

My 98.5 cummins has been in the shop for 8 days now and each day reveals a new problem. Took her in after a few hard starts where there seemed to be a loss of prime. The day before the shop appointment the oil pressure gauge suddenly dropped, then went immediately back to normal. I was a mile from home so I decided to limp her home, the oil pressure dropped to zero and then jumped back to normal as I pulled away from the intersection stop. Acceleration seemed to keep the oil pressure in the normal range. Anyway, I ger her to the shop who seems to start throwing parts at the problems. They replaced the oil pressure sensor and said the injector connector pencil o-ring…

I'm going to replace the vibration damper (harmonic balancer) this weekend and was wondering if it is directional or has to be aligned with a mark anywhere? When I resealed my timing cover a couple years ago I just slapped it back on and torqued to spec, but I figured I'd ask the genesius this time. It's an oem cummins, can't run anything else with the fuel boss... Thanks John

I have never had one die but here's whats happing. It shuts off just like you turned the key off and back on in a split second. It did it about 10 times in two miles. I have been hauling heavy off and on for about two weeks. I mean my foot in it climbing hills and such with about 29k combo weight. Another thing my boost will only climb to 21 and takes for ever to get there. EGTS wont get above 1000. Now the only thing I am running is the boost elbow that came with the old Edge EZ, you would think it would be better than that. I have just been driving like grand paw for the past year or so but am back to custom baling for the public. I didn't know it was so low on HP. This…

Hi Guys, Just thought I would mention what I have just recently gone through. My fuel gauge line is connected to a small needle vale on the fuel pump and over time, the gauge needle valve has vibrated open. I started to hear this tick while driving and thought I had an exhaust manifold leak. Kept looking and checking and found nothing out of the ordinary. This went on for a while and I was getting frustrated and concerned due to the exhaust burning metal away at the gasket area. One day I happen to watch the fuel gauge as I booted it to pull away in traffic and the gauge needle jumped in time with the "tick" - ahh I thought, has to be the gauge line valve. Adjuste…

Please post things you might want to buy. Please no PM's until I decide what to do and so that we can keep first come first serve. I just want to see if it's worth parting out right now. These have already been asked. I think they are hazed over like typical lights but the rest is ok. I'll check and report back. Correct. 02 is all mine.
