My reverse lights were not working, once in a while one would come on but it was intermittent. I replaced bulbs and still same. Finally I put 2 and 2 together and looked under the rear of the truck (once I again took notice of the hole in the side of the inner bed wall that looked like a trailer plug) and saw that some dumb dumb had spliced into the wires going to the tail lights on both sides to power this plug in the bed that is no longer there. I removed the splices and the wires had corroded so no power was getting through. Surprised the tails and signals worked at all. Now that the splices are done correctly and shrink wrapped all is good. Since I live …

I'm planning on adding some auxiliary lighting to my 98 & 1/2 2500 and while poking around under the hood I noticed that the existing fog lights (and presumably other lights) appear to use negative switching. For those who've been down this path before, do you think I should use negative switching for any new lighting or other accessories so that it's all the same? If so should I do this for the switches in the cab as well or just use positive switching at that point and use the relays under the hood to switch ground? I can do it either way but I have to admit that positive switching feels more natural to me. I'm just curious if either approach is likely to bite m…

I had my truck on a lift today and was looking at the right rear shock... The plastic was melted. Quite a surprise. I think it happened towing this last summer. Lots of time droning at 1100 EGT with 100F ambient temps. Although, it could have happened when my exhaust dropped off of an exhaust hanger for a couple weeks before I noticed. It might have touched. As much as I hate to admit it, but does this actually make a decent argument for stacks?

So I have a 1996 2500, reg cab, auto, 4x4. The body is rusted out I’m wondering can I buy a 1994-2000 1500 2wd and put it on the 2500 frame. And all I would have to do is cut a hole for the transfer case shifter. I was gonna swap all the wiring and the dash. Just wondering who have done. And what am I not thinking about. Thanks!

So ive noticed the past 2 summers this occuring.i start the truck and its hot outside, i turn the ac on max setting and when it kicks in it sounds like the compressor clutch explodes and the engine surges badly. after that its fine until the truck sits for a while and it all cools down.in the winter it doesnt do this.when i have the ac on before i turn the engine over it doesnt do this as its already engaged...ill check the pressure the pressures this weekend to ensure its not overfilled, not sure if the clutch pack is worn out causing the extreme engagement after engine is running.all the while the ac is nice and cold, its just the clutch on the compressor hammers into a…

So my aux port that's always hot without key on just below cigarette lighter outlet is only working with one device plugged in, if I plug something else in it starts to turn on an off. I checked the fuse under hood and found the one marked for aux 20amp, pulled it out and looks like it's been getting hot. So I put a new fuse in still does same thing. Something is getting hot and acting as a on off switch. Here is a fuse I pulled out. Any ideas, I'm thinking maybe something under dash is rubbing, on first glance I didn't see anything wrong.

So I did the 3rd gen brake upgrade today and while looking things over noticed I only have 2 bolts holding my driver side hub bearing on. I know removing weight helps with mpg/performance and all, but this seems a tad overkill. I ordered a new set of bolts, should arrive tomorrow morning....and I will be taking my car.

Jegs sells a low fuel psi switch kit that is adjustable.(5to25psi). a little pain to set at 10-12psi but if your fuel pump is adjustable you can turn it down till lite comes on or off ,then reset your pump.

So what do you recommend to fix a leaky windshield? Everyone says avoid silicone but all the available fixes I find, Permatex, JB Weld, etc. are silicone. If you have any suggestions where to buy it would also be helpful.

Does anyone have or has dealt with the noisy door panels? When you happen to lean on them and when you pull on them? Any good solutions? I replaced all of the clips that hold the panel on which improved the situation a little, but still noisy.

Well I figured out why my back door lower latch wasn't latching. The big hole rusted through the lower door let water and crud in there and rusted the latch mechanism. So I'm going to remove the latch and see about freeing it. Has anybody replaced their lower door skins?

Wire connection questions I have to mess around behind "A" pillar. Mostly small 18-22 gauge wire looks to me. Solder, shrink tube, dinky wire nuts, etc... What do you prefer to be the best connection as a general rule? (Bonus question...) On this forum where should postings go that are general in nature? Thanks

Were rear disc brakes on the 2001.5 and 2002 trucks only available with all-wheel anti-lock brakes? Or were there rear disc trucks made with rear wheel anti-lock (RWAL) only? I'm wondering how folks handle the drum to disc axle swap in regards to ABS as it seems like most of the rear disc trucks I've seen have all-wheel anti-lock. Is it prudent to run rear discs with rear wheel anti-lock only? This situation might exist if putting a rear disc axle in something like a 1999 truck with RWAL rear drums.

So, I went and bought a new flasher because I could not get mine to work (expensive square one). It works fine now with the truck off and can do my big trailers lights fine. BUT when the truck has its headlights on running or not, it simply buzzes loudly and cannot flash the lights, There is a little warpage of the place where the flasher plugs in I'm worried it has gotten very hot in the past to warp the plastic a little and I have no clue as to how to figure out whats wrong. I would assume a piss poor ground maybe? Thanks.
