  1. I'm not good at all when it comes to electrical. I would like to wire up some fog lights, rear back up lights, third brake light on my topper and moon visor lighting. I'd like to know if I can just wire the third brake light into the tail light or hitch wiring without a relay? It's LED I believe... The moon visor lighting... can I just wire it into the headlight switch somehow.. without relay? I already have fog lights in the factory location in the bumper but are not factory wired. The previous owner installed with relay and toggle. I want to run another set of fog lights under the bumper on a toggle. I have wiring and relay that came …

Hey guys, I'm not 100% sure if the drivers side rear door was replaced (no vin tag) or just put back together after installing a new speaker without replacing these tabs but it's loose, and I want to get new ones so it doesn't rattle. Anyone know the part number or where to get them? The yellow tabs in the pic

  3. Now that I'm getting the OBDLink dialed in and closer and closer to accurate for data logs, trip computer and anything else. I figure I needed a nice cradle to hold the tablet. Now I'll admit that it not exactly viewable while driving which is good, there is less chances of me mess with the tablet while driving or watch the gauges too much. I rigged the important gauges to have high markers so I can capture a screenshot when I stop somewhere. Now my cradle barely clears the transmission stick and I've got to be careful throwing 5th not to cram it in. The tablet barely fits with all cables hooked up including audio back to my stereo. I can see the tablet clearly in 2nd an…

  4. My friends, I'm trying to understand the bushings that are on these tailgates. I'm confused on part #17 and #1 on the diagram. I just ordered two of the #17; those are the bushings that sit on the bed and the pivots (#5/#16) slide into (hence why it says 2 for quantity). I'm just confused as to what the #1 is for on the diagram. It says you only need one (1) of them? Right hand side only? It's weird because when I look up the part number it looks like what I just ordered (2nd photo). Again, I'm just confused on whether or not I need to replace another part (#1) or if I am missing it all together? I'm replacing this #17 because the tailgate…

I hope someone can shed some light on this issue for me. On my 99 3500 2wd last year I put all new brake hardware on the truck. Rotor/hubs, calipers, pads and this weekend had to put a new drum, wheel cylinder and shoes on one side in the rear. What happens is that just recently the truck started shaking, bouncing when applying brakes from a speed above 50 or so. Yesterday I pulled the front wheels and checked the rotor runout and the passenger side is only about .001" but the driver side is right at .007" runout on the face. Also looks like some hot spots on both rotors also. I put high end pads on the truck. Will the cheaper pads run cooler? Is tha…

I just set up my pressure washing rig in the back of my truck. I would estimate I have maybe 250 pounds that sits after the axle. Do you think this could affect the front end? Like making it more sensitive to every little bump? PS.. I'm not worried Nick

Hi guys, I put new tires on a year ago. A little after I did, I started hearing some rubbing during turning. I did not oversize the tiers. I went with the 265's that had been on there before. Well, today I finally saw where the rubbing sound must have been coming from. It is in the passenger front tire well. The rubber line that terminates at the hub. I'll post up pictures in a second. I'm going to have to replace the line. But I did nothing but put on new tires. I'm trying to figure out what is causing it to rub. I can't tell that the mount got turned or bent. Any ideas?

  10. Hi everyone, I recently picked up a new to me 2001 ram 2500. The truck is a 2001 non sport 2500 qclb 4x4 auto. I bought the truck a few weeks ago seeing as it was pretty well maintained with very minimal rust. This is the only electrical problem on the truck. The right front parking lamp does not work with the lights on causing the right blinker to blink fast and cluster has the right signal illuminated with lights on. Its not the bulb or socket. I noticed when i opened the hood when the underhood light comes on so does the right front parking lamp. How can this happen?

This is on a 96' 2500 12v 4x4 auto. I replaced the rear brake shoes, drums, upgraded to GM cylinders and flushed the system. Front brakes are in excellent condition. Everything has been working fine until about a week ago. The rear brakes are really grabby and will lock up easily until the ABS system kicks in. I haven't had a chance to pull the drums yet but there are no visible leakes and everything looks ok. Could the proportion valve have crapped the bed?

  12. I know a lot of people have to transmission work at home on their shop floor without a lift. I wish I would of shot pictures on the way out. What you need is 2 cam buckle straps and 2 ratchet straps. On the way down you put both cam buckle strap across under the transmission on at the front and one at the rear. Hooking to the frame one on left and on right side. Once the transmission is loose wiggle a bit and allow it to be cradled in the straps. Single man can hold like the rear strap ease it down a few inches and then swap. Now the photo here I used the ratchet straps to lift it back up but doubled up with cam buckle straps. So again ratchet strap can be reset …

  13. Over the past couple weeks when I start up during a cold morning I'd happen to get the occasional P1291 code for the lack of intake heat. I'd clear the code and then it wouldn't happen again for a few days or so, depending on how many times I drove the truck. Strange part is when it would throw the code, I'd immediately shut down, check with a reader, clear the code, and start up again. All would be fine. I thought maybe I have a bad or sticky relay that just happened free up, so I checked around to see who has them. Thankfully they're readily available but they're not cheap either. Before I went and spent the money I thought I'd do a full diagnostic just to be …

Hey Folks, Its been a while since I've been here, but now I need a little help. After I drove 15 miles to work, I noticed a burning smell, but dismissed it to be from somewhere else. Driving home, I noticed a slight hum and also some unusual vibration. I thought I may have a seriously low tire. Not so. By the time I got home, the burn smell was very strong. I felt the rear wheels. Whoa! Both rear wheels were super hot - I couldn't keep a hand on them more than a second. I pulled a wheel and didn't notice anything unusual - I think. What's going on here? Thanks in advance. Eric

I'm sure this has been covered somewhere but I have looked for quite sometime and can't find the exact answer I'm looking for. I have had an intermittent "pop" when turning the steering wheel left or right. I dropped the steering column down last week to remove the dash and replace the heater core and it has since gotten worse. Before you could feel it in the wheel when it made its popping noise but now the sensation is more pronounced. I have replaced most of my steering components in the truck already and with it becoming worse after dropping the steering column I'm lead to think it must be in the column itself. Any ideas? The truck is a 01' 2500 4wd six speed manual. N…

So I need to charge my ac tonight. I was wondering how much freon it holds. And if I need to add oil. Since it is empty since doing the heater core and evaporator about a year ago. I'm close to some parts stores and would like to get my supply's before going home. I got a set of gauges too and would like to know what pressures should be reading. Thanks for any help

  17. So I'm sure there is a posting about this some where but I'm gonna ask it again. My 99 dodge driver door failed and I think I found one. But instead of spending 600 on paint I figured I would bed liner the entire truck. What do you guys think I've never used monstaliner and it's pretty expensive. I've used duplicolor on my grill guard and as long as it's warm it works good I think. Just wanted to get the entire scoop before I continue thanks.

I took off for work this am driving down a 4 lane. had backed out of the throttle and when I eased back in heard a loud bang. Almost like some hit the axle or frame with a 5# hammer. Thought for sure i had broken something, not convinced have not yet. I pulled into the convenience store for coffee and get out and do a walk around. Nothing hanging of the truck, no fluid leaking, gauges all reading good just nothing visibly wrong. The bang seemed to come from the passenger side of the front axle best I can tell. Just not sure. I drove 40 miles to work on the interstate, no issues. Drove 40 miles back plus all around the job, nothing out of the ordinary. If I ran over someth…
