Is there a way to tell if my truck has an A/M tune? I'm pretty sure it's still stock, but not 100% sure. I'm getting to the point where I want to do a few mods to get a little more power out of the truck and I figured I would start with a tuner. However, I'm not sure if it already has one on it. I assume that to add a tuner I need to be at stock. Correct? I called the local dealer to see about having the ECM reflashed to make sure it's a factory tune and he said they can do it, but warned me that there is a chance it might burn up the ECM... Definitely don't want to do that. TIA

Responding to notification about being "inactive" member... I read more than I post, since y'all know more than I do. But, just to say something for the sake of saying it: my "new" truck turned 20 years old on Tuesday, 05/12/15. It has 569,750 (about) miles on it. Just put another water pump on - O'Reilly autoparts keeps replacing them when they wear out. I bought the first one from them in 2003 to replace the OEM one. The new pump lasted until 2010, went out near enough home to let it cool and limp back. This one went out on the way home from work and needed a tow. So OEM 8 years, then 7 and 5. I think I will buy and install a new one in 2019 (G-d willing) …

  4. So after much frustration and $$$ My front end is all squared away and the steering is as it should be. Tie rods, ball joints, Sealed adjustable solid track bar, leveling kit, wearable joints ect. Along with all the interior and body parts replaced. Would like to do control arms to match the 2.5" leveling spacers angle but back to the point on hand... I can finally start spending on the tranny/performance. First off, my Nv4500 is in decent shape, drives very well. But is not brand new anymore... Before I go out and try to find a clutch should I be dropping the tranny and checking everything before thinking about a clutch flywheel or anything else? I read this http://ww…

I have run into a problem with my current setup with my egts while towing no matter what I have my my quadzilla set on. If I continue to tow a lot what turbo should I upgrade to or should I go back to stock injectors? The turbo is the original HX35. If I upgraded turbo I just want a direct bolt on. Thank an you for your input.

Ok, so I've got a dilemma. As many of you know, My DD is an '01 QCSB SRW 6speed. A friend texted me a picture of a '99 QC Dually. I went to look at it, and the guy has had it for 5yrs, and no longer needs a dually, and wants to get a SRW truck. I, on the other hand, have been looking for a dually. So, trade talks ensued. Here's what he's got: 99 QCLB Dually 4x4, auto 268k mi new steering components new steering box new tires new shocks automatic with stock TC and Trans-Go shift kit overload springs Quadzilla Adrenaline Gauge pod w/EGT, BOOST, and Trans Temp gauges New VP44 FASS DDRP MBRP 5" turbo-back Leather interior w/ couple…

  10. I just installed a BHAF and heat shield in my truck and was wondering if you just use the filter minder out of the factory air box? If so do you also use the rubber bushing that is on it or do you get a different one somewhere. I also just ditched my Isolator in favor of a needle valve and was wondering how far to turn it out? ThanksBrandon

I've noticed that since I installed a Raptor 100 and have 14+ psi consistently, after the first filter change the filter is going a lot longer than it used to. I bet that before the new pump I was returning little or no fuel to the tank. Pressure was too low. I've noticed that the first stock fuel filter change was very black. Now I can go 10,000 miles and the filter is still white. I think that first filter scrubbed all of the built up junk out of the system. I am still getting some crud on the inlet filter of the raptor. My intention is to install a simple metal inline filter on the suction side Of the fuel pump. I am thinking of installing a couple of isolation ba…

  13. Ok so as the title say's after my first test run with my new camper. Which i have posted about in another thread in the trailer & RV section. Over all the truck did good had plenty of power to hold 5th gear on flat ground with enough power in reserve to speed up for a long hill. But on those 6% hill's sent me from 5th at 55 mph and 22psi @900 d EGT's to at the top of the hill 3rd at 38-40 mph and 31 psi at 1000-1100 d EGT's. I really couldn't give it more pedal which i had a whole lot of but the egt would jump in a heart beat to yellow but i never got over 1100. So while i was down at the lake i read my Diesel Power mag and would like to hear some of ya'lls thought's …

  14. I don't know the answer to this one. I am hoping that all the fuel coolers sold do give better mileage as they claim.I know the vp can get too hot under loads, heavy towing and so on, esp. on hot days in which cooler fuel helps in that case.Anyhow, ever notice how hot the fuel filter housing gets from being mounted on the intake manifold? Put your hand on it after a run. It's supposed to be getting too hot anyways, acting like a fuel heater most all the time.First off I need to give credit for this information from another forum when this discussion was going on. Someone got the bright idea to make a plastic piece that isolates the fuel cannister from the engine heat. I d…

  15. I have a DiPricol mechanical gauge and had problems with the isolator, replace that with the needle valve set-up as decribed on this site. I still have the gauge dropping from about 15psi to ZERO and back up to 15. I've tried opening the valve more and closing it more with no change in the action of the gauge. You'd think that if the fuel pressure was truly dropping to zero the engine would let me know. Maybe it was the gauge all along and not the isolator?I'm going to replace the gauage and would like to install an electroinc unit to keep fuel out of the cab. I've seen there have been some problems with the electronics. Any suggestions on them and which seems to be…

I reacently found out my 99 cummins has a 53 block. It has 260k miles has an edge ez I believe. Bhaf, banks intake horn. Pusher hot side tube. Other than that it's stocks. My question is do you keep it or get rid of it. The truck runs great. Looking around on the block I didn't see any cracks or signs. I mean there was some oil from my vacuum pump and before I did the blow by mod but nothing that caught my eyes. I've read that if it doesn't crack by 100k your good. I've also read that wrong cold start and pulling heavy loads cracks it out. Talked to the guy who owned it before me he said he's never pulled light with it cattle, bales all gooseneck pulls. I've put a lot of …

I got my new injectors from DAP installed an Friday and I can’t be happier with how the truck runs. It’s smoother at idle, has way less idle haze when the engine is cold, and they pair perfectly with the Calibrated Power hx35 stealth 64. The smoke output is less than the 7x.0085 injectors they replaced. I also got a quadzilla adrenaline at the same time as the injectors but it ended up getting back ordered so I’m still running my 12 year old Edge Juice with Attitude for now. The sales staff at DAP are second to none. I will definitely use them again in the future.
