i filled my tank up the day my tranny crapped out. so it is sitting in the driveway with a full tank of fuel. it could be a couple of months before i get it back on the road. how long can the the fuel sit there before it degrades and is there something i can doto prolong its life? really dont have anything else to run it in.

I know that this thread has been done to death, but i just came back from a weekend trip and thought i would post up my fuel mileage report.Approx. 300 miles each wayRunning south at 76mph with a pretty stiff head wind i averaged 17.22 miles per gallon at approx. 2200rpmheaded back north at 64mph with no wind to speak of i averaged 22.35 miles per gallon at approx. 1800rpmi am happy with these numbers but they can always improve! the speed is obviously a huge factor on the economy, but i would like to do injectors and larger exhaust in the near future. any thoughts or recommendations are always welcome.i would love to see some of you guys numbers on your rigs so post away…

Got my ducky 7x9's in the other weekend. Working on my tunes a little at a time. Seems as tho my fuel mileage has fell pretty bad. Now that I think about could my mileage have reset when I unhooked my batteries??? Anywho the lie o meter seems to think it's not to much worse than it was. I have finally made my self stop getting on it every time I get in the truck! I have put about 300 miles on it since putting um in so I don't have a lot of data on um. However I can cruise at about 65 and timing is 18.56ish. Egts are at around 660. Add more timing or just give it some time for me to adjust to the new power? Mainly will the odometer reset with batteries unplugged. That wi…

So, I have posted my problem on another forum and I am not getting much response. A couple of weeks ago my fuel pressure began to fluctuate. What happens is that the pressure is fine (19 psi) when I start the truck but it will soon drop to below five PSI. It will return to normal after to sits a while, but the pressure will always fall again. When the pressure begins to fall my Raptor pump begins to whine until it is very noticeable as the pressure approaches five psi and I shut the truck down. I changed the filter twice, checked my lines, changed the overflow valve twice and I still have the same problem. The only thing I can think of is that the Raptor is bad. It has o…

It has been awhile since I posted about my cracked 55 block. I have that band-aided for now and it mostly holding up. I have however been experiencing some strange phenomenon with my fuel pressure. When It is cold outside <35F, my fuel pressure is around 15.5-16.5psi at idle and when I drive the truck a good ways, it will creep up to around 17-18 at idle which is fine. The other end of the spectrum is when it is warm outside. >75F, the fuel pressure will be around 18.5-20psi at idle but never really goes above that. I have the AD150 and full big line kit along with a needle valve. Sometimes the fuel pressure fluctuates a little but it is slow and the gauge do…

I have a DiPricol mechanical gauge and had problems with the isolator, replace that with the needle valve set-up as decribed on this site. I still have the gauge dropping from about 15psi to ZERO and back up to 15. I've tried opening the valve more and closing it more with no change in the action of the gauge. You'd think that if the fuel pressure was truly dropping to zero the engine would let me know. Maybe it was the gauge all along and not the isolator?I'm going to replace the gauage and would like to install an electroinc unit to keep fuel out of the cab. I've seen there have been some problems with the electronics. Any suggestions on them and which seems to be…

Installed a 0-30 psi gauge yesterday. I tapped into the filter housing; the '99 has two 1/8" pipe thread ports on the top of the filter bracket, inboard port is post-filter. I used Mike's recommended Weatherhead needle valve feeding into a tee; pressure line to one port, Kohler engine oil pressure switch (NAPA SME 2509927S) to the remaining port to activate a low pressure warning light. Good news is all works well. Bad news is low pressure (big surprise here,eh?); 10 psi engine not running, 7-8 psi engine idling, 5 psi around town & 65 mph cruise on highway.Solution is not all that clear. Presently the truck is stock, 173k miles, seems to run fine, no starting proble…

So I need a little help with a fuel pressure gauge install. I am looking to get a Isspro electric gague and a Vulcan line kit. I know I need a snubber as well. But how do I go about hooking it up to my vp44 test port? Snubber first or after the Vulcan line? Any help or advice is greatly appreciated!

This morning I started my truck and I am sitting a very nice 18psi at idle and 15.5psi at WOT, nothing wrong here just normal everyday stuff. Temp outside is 68*F around 2pm Just now I went to the corner store and I started my truck, mind you there is not hard start, and I noticed the fuel pressure is sitting at 12psi at idle and 10.5psi at WOT(for a very short run). Now the only conditions that have changed is the weather. It is currently 9:15pm outside and the temp is 30*F. Now I am hoping this is just because the temp difference is such a drastic change that the fuel is thicker? I also have a little less than a 1/4 tank in the truck. Is my fuel pressure this l…

I am going to install a fuel psi gauge. I have a banjo/snubber bolt that goes in to the vp. I will hook my steel braided line to that and to the gauge. No isolator. How does this sound for a set- up?Sent from my DROID3 using Tapatalk 2

Finally moving my Raptor FRRP to the frame rail. Using the Vulcan mounting bracket. Does it matter which direction the pump hangs? Not meaning vertical vs horizontal, but can the bracket be flipped so the pump “rests” on the bracket as opposed to hangs from it?

this spring i plan on dropping the tank out of my 02. i already have an airdog with a 1/2" draw straw but imn sick of low level slosh issues. im going to get a vulcan draw straw V. but while im at it, i wanna run 1/2" return lines too and have em dump into the canister rather than the filler neck. i was just wondering what size the banjo return fittings are? so i can put a jic fitting on the back of the head like the airdog supply. and from what ive found i need a barbed banjo fitting fo rthe return off the pump because of the pressure valve in the bolt. just dont know what size for that either.thanks

What is a good, economical means to return the fuel to the general tank versus returning directly to the basket? Can a guy splice a tee into the filler neck VENT? Should I obtain the Airdog/Fass style tee that goes in the ACTUAL filler neck hose? I'd prefer something where I don't have to drop the tank. I bought a 3-way ball valve so I can seasonally return to the basket in winter, or to the tank in the summer. It's ~75 degrees here this morning, and by the end of my 23 mile commute the fuel was over 120 degrees running empty at 65-70 mph for most of that time. Fuel gauge at 1/2, so probably around 10 gallons in the tank. Trip meter at 400 miles. Tw…

I'm planning to add an XZT+ before towing season. I really need to upgrade the lift pump before I get into towing again. So I'm weighing the options vs cost. I'd like to do this once... I'm not going racing but need to tow properly... can never be sure what that'll take until I've done it. Airdog vs Raptor?Should I go for the draw straw & big line?Russ
