  1. Hello everyone, My 98 12 valve recently started having issues while starting. Here are the symptoms: 1. The truck seems to be turning over way slower than normal. 2. The truck takes significantly longer to start because of the slow crank. I have ruled out the batteries and all the connections seem to be clean and corrosion free. From what I have looked into I believe it is time to replace my starter but I wanted to get some other feedback. This would be my first time replacing my starter, so and advice in the best one to buy or where to get it, or evn a how to would be greatly appreciated.

    First if I'm typing this from a cell phone. So forgive the errors please. And I'm going off the info I remember from him and me talking. Co worker had a 95 12v auto. He's had in the shop for a few months. Od quits. Tech quits. No od. They have put new ECM in a few times. And have traded every wire that should cause some of the issues. I told him to check for AC noise on the alternator. And a bad ground. He tells me it's a new alternator. But that doesn't mean much. Thoughts and suggestions?

    Can anyone share information on how to modify the valve body on a 47rh to achieve 1st gear lock up? I am kicking around the idea of putting together an Adrino and having it control lockup in each gear along with pulling on the TV cable to delay the shift before unlocking the converter, releasing the TV cable then locking back up. I currently have manual 2nd gear lock up and have been unlocking the torque converter just before the transmission shifts to 3rd. but I need to know how soon lockup can be engaged in first without lugging the engine, or having too much of a drop in RPMs. I want to see if I can get away with not going to an aftermarket torque converter just …

    12v owners. I installed a Stant 13479 thermostat over the weekend. NO more wild 50* temp. swings from the old thermostat. Just nice mild 5-10* swing on open and closed. Got the idea from ghostman over on the other forum. Very very happy with the results. Truck actually made temp. on my way to work this morning in the 37* cold. It would have been barely off the 140* mark with the old tstat.

  7. So in my project, I need to find 5" of space on the front side of the engine. At a minimum that means replacing the fan with electric fan(s). The next big thing I'd need to move to get space are the intercoolers (turbo and tranny), RAD and AC pack. Potentially I can move some of that stuff to the side of the engine behind the head lights. I'm hesitant to relocate the RAD due to it's high need for fresh air. So my question is this: has anyone replaced the stock parts with a more efficient (and smaller) unit? If so, what did you use? any other thoughts?

    Hey everyone, I currently have the 3rd gear/lockup issue that seems to be common with these trucks. I installed and set up a new TPS last winter, and cleaned all the grounds which didn't solve the issue. Eventually I caved and bought a noise filter, which made everything work great for about 4 months. However, I noticed that with the filter hooked up, when I let off the throttle at highway speed, the TC didn't unlock and bring the RPM's back down to ~1k like before. Instead it held and would engine brake the way a manual trans would, unless I hit the brake pedal, or went below about 40mph. But aside from that, things worked fine, no shifting back and for…

    grandfather recently bought 95 ram 2500 4x4 with 2wheel abs at auction with the abs/brake light on, would like to take care of it since I'm assuming it has to do with the brakes fading the more you push them. So i grounded the wire wire under the dash to make the lights flash, looked at the chest chart I found online and hope someone can tell me how to fix 3, I'm assuming you only count the short flashes.     So, buddy of mine that I work with got a 95, 4x4, auto supposedly built for pulling trailers , 220k 8' box, regular cab. Title says gas, also brake booster doesn't seem to be hydraulic like on mine, it's round like on a gas truck but no vacume lines going to it or place for it.     So I can definantly tell where I park my rig due to the fuel stains I leave behind. Where ever its leaking from, the fuel seems to be landing on the top of my starter. Over the summer I replaced a broken lift pump and replaced the metal fuel lines from the top of the tank to where the meet up in front of the fire wall. I've read that these engines basically shake themselves to death causing the return lines to chafe. Anyone know where I can get a fuel diagram to start checking lines? Thanks for the help.

    I dont have a 12valver but do 2nd gen 12v have a ECM? along with a PCM? Is 12v ECM similar to the 98-2001 but just without injector pump electronics part I have a '99 CTD.
