The wife and I got news Friday evening that our nephew (her brothers oldest son) and his friend both died in a fatal one car accident. They were both just 18 years old and had just graduated high school. The were driving a Jeep Grand Cherokee when there was a "major vehicle equipment malfunction" . The Jeep went across oncoming traffic into the grass and flipped before hitting a tree. Both were pronounced dead at the scene. I feel terrible for his parents, they are devastated. Mikey (the deceased) was just at our place on the 4th of July swimming and having a great time. He had some tentative plans for his future with his girlfriend who was also here. …

Some of you think I only work on the Dodge Cummins trucks. Far from the truth. I work on just about anything with wheels under it. Like my favorite truck from the Fire Dept. I've got to rework the battery cables on this beast. Cummins Big Cam 400, Eaton Fuller 10 speed. This thing is a beast and packing 4,000 gallons of water, 80,000 pound truck. I'm one of the few that can drive this truck. Shocker there is a Ford in my shop. Yup a 5.4L V3 Triton. Has a coolant leak in the crossover manifold. Rather good challenge to do but not fun. Then tomorrow morning I've got a Ford 7.3L diesel coming for a cooling system flush …

We just visited Kingman AZ and stopped in the Chamber of Commerce. Trying to get a bit of info. We learned the shop owner next door is getting his jewelry store. The major of Kingman AZ just invited Black Lives Matter to town. This is absolutely wrong... We bailed out and head back home to Mohave Valley. Im safe here in out in the middle of nowhere. I've even called home and checking on home and local towns.

  6. On my fuel filter housing, John Deere 455 has it mounted it on the engine where it shakes the hell out of it and the 90 degree steel nipples going into the filter aren't threaded, but just pressed in . One came loose and leaked. Right now I got it held in with a zip tie keeping it held in and doesn't leak. Can I take the filter assembly off, clean it all up and sweat those fittings in place like you would copper ? I would like to fix it and not buy another filter assembly if all they do is build without threaded fittings...... those turkeys.

  7. My little brother has a friend who owns a ranch in central Kansas and during the burning season one of their trucks got caught on the fire and they let it burn to the ground. It was a 2014 Dodge 3500 with a G56 and like the title says, is it possible to save the motor and transmission? Obviously the motor looks like hell with all of the plastic melted and ashy and rusty since the fire baked it, but I was curious if I could get a good deal, basically next to nothing hopefully on it, if it was worth saving and reselling some of the parts like injectors and internals, or even using the G56 in my 2000 that still needs a transmission. Thanks!

  10. Kind of a rainy lazy day today so I thought I would tinker around with one of our old tractors. Today it was the 1945 Farmall H. She had a loader on the front yesterday, I remover that since the hydraulic cylinders began leaking so badly it wouldn't stay up making the tractor basically useless until it was removed. It had a hard time starting to yesterday after sitting almost a year and a half so I removed the carb and cleaned it out good and blew compressed air through it all. After that she was still running rough so off came the loader and to the barn she went. Today, pulled the hood off and began checking the ignition system, cleaned and gapped the plugs, c…

I have an 1835B with a diesel I'd like to adjust the valves on. There's so little room around the timing cover to find the mark. I seem to remember there being a way to do it without needing the timing mark. A method called the over/under method or something like that. Somewhere I saw it as an alternative and supposedly better method to check the valves on our Cummins or any inline diesel. Can anyone enlighten me?

I will start with getting stuck on the job for 5 weeks without going home. That in itself sucks. But to top that of the wife almost gets t boned by a car running a red light. The car was totaled. But is a 1998 Saturn 4 door and both air bags deployed so it does not take alot to total it. Impact was on the passanger side front corner and continued over the hood. My 90 year old MIL was riding shotgun and came thru ok, just bruised up and sore. The wife was not so fortunate. At 4'9" tall she sits right up on the wheel. I dont believe impact was her problem, it appears to me that the air bag did all the damage. She had her hand across the wheel and it slammed her a…

So I was given a laptop with Ubuntu as the only OS which is a gigantic pita for me. The reason it's a pita is that I'm coming from Windows XP and 7 and used to just pointing and clicking to get things done. Ubuntu seems to use a lot of coding and I constantly find myself having to spend large amounts of time reading up on how to do things. I don't have internet at my house other than my smartphone and tablet, and it seems that every time I turn around I have to download something else to get Ubuntu to do what I want, which is also a pita. usps tracking showbox speed test

Been awhile since I played with saws. The other day this 372xpw popped out of nowhere for cheap . These are lack luster saws xpw runs concrete saw cylinder dropped on a chain saw as factory big bore. It was a flop meant to run with the 75cc stihl 046. But actually was out done by the 70cc 372xp I tore it down raised transfers 2.5mm to advance timing and raise rpm. Also widend intake and exhaust. This should up rpm and overall power. From passed experience it does Did a few tree jobs might play more this coming spring in the tree's

  17. Not a Ram A couple weeks ago I picked up a mint 2015 F250 4x4 6.7 Powerstroke with 81k miles. This is the nicest truck I’ve ever owed and so far I’m loving it! Why a Ford and not a Ram? Honestly, I like them better than a Ram of the same year range. My poor old no dash 96’ Ram has been parked for now until I fix the brakes and figure out why the fuel system randomly looses prime. I’ve had several people ask me “so when are you getting rid of that old truck?” to which I reply “I’m not”. I still like my old truck and will drive it again once everything is fixed.

  18. This article covers the general process you go through when you order a new truck through a dealer. We have split the status's into stages to help you understand the steps. Mopar1973man.com made up the "stages" When you order a new truck these are the status's that they use. You can find your status 1 of 2 ways. 1. contacting your dealer they can find hte order info and give you a status. The dealer can look up the order via VON or VIN. 2. you can go to https://www.ramtrucks.com/webselfservice/ram/index.html and click Live Chat. They can always lookup by VIN, and sometimes find it via VON. The live chat will be much more reliable in Stage 3 of the bu…

Ok... It's time to start a new page in my life. My mother @MoparMom has passed on (rest in peace) then I've got my wonderful girlfriend @Wet Vette that has been at my side the entire time. I've been super busy as of yet between taking care of last few thing for Mom death certificate and Eileen's medical appointments. I'm doing good and got my mind focus on moving on. Don't get me wrong I still have my weak moments and shed a tear or two with certain triggers. Even that is getting better. Give me a about one more month and then I'm going to be back here really working the website. I plan on getting back to article writing and being here on the site…

First, let me just say, I miss talking to you guys. My life has changed so much in the last several years. It's difficult for me to get much time to do anything leisurely anymore. But when i see a necessity, here I am. Make me feel guilty sometimes to ask questions on here. I don't want to give the impression in abusing you guys as a resource. ? Although I have wondered, there's nowhere I feel like I can turn to except you guys, where I can certainly respect your opinions more than anyone elses. Recently, we have gone through a spat of winter snow storms. Started last Friday and has snowed every day since then except Wednesday. We have …
