I don't usually give financial or investment advice, but I am now going to be your new financial advisor . . . . . If you had purchased $1,000 of shares in Delta Airlines 5 years ago, you would have $49.00 today! If you had purchased $1,000 of shares in AIG 5 years ago, you would have $33.00 today. If you had purchased $1,000 of shares in Lehman Brothers 5 years ago, you would have $0.00 today. But, if you had purchased $1,000 worth of beer one year ago, drank all the beer, then turned in the aluminum cans for the recycling refund, you would have received $214.00. Based on the above, the best current investment plan is to drink heavily & recycle. It is called the 4…

I really don't know what to say about this. Yah, I can understand why they wanted Omaha to get this dude... 'for practice sake'. And I guess I am thankful this Country has facilities such as this. I just hope this doesn't become another 'something' to be dealt with

I'm smack in the middle of a large wind energy project... 266 proposed windmills covering 54,000 acres. The company that bought up all the eminent domain rights for this project is a 'for profit' company. Not a public utility company. We all know the 'green' initiative money from the Fed is THE only way this is happening... My part of the state is well serviced with hydro electric, coal fired, and 2 nuclear generators.... one of which was shut down after the big tsunami in japan, which coincided with our extremely wet spring and Missouri river flooding..., the worriers wanted that reactor shut down at the …

I'm leaving in the morning for the Oregon coast on an archery elk hunt. Weather is shaping up well. Temps dropped 20* and partly cloudy. They grow those elk big on the coast! Very rarely freezes and lots of feed.

Dear Daughter got a FREE refridgerator from an Uncle Billy who is moving. Nice side by side... huge. Although I'm clearly not able to do any of the hefting, I volunterered to be transprtation officer with Cummins & landscape trailer. I hung a U turn in Uncle Billy's cull-de-sac, straigtened the rig out & backed right up to the refridgerator outside the garage. I had adviced DDaughter to rent a refridgerator hand truck from U-Haul which was done. I was concerned about the expander metal on the trailer ramp but we laid plywood over it & a couple of strong guys rolled it right on. I'd given the tieing down a lot of thought. I'd have liked the load ove…

Contemplating selling off the Cirrus... biggest issue is Pine Sap... huge tree 3 stories up, hangs over my parking space. I've been cleaning the drips off the glass practically daily... let them dry & use a razor blade scraper, come right off. On the paint, I've tried commerical products, WD40, paint thinnner & others with no luck. Finally success! I've been using rubbing alcohol on small pieces of rag. Focus on small areas & one by one the drips dissolve with no damage to the paint. Areas need washing after they are pine free. It's a long process to do the whole car.

...while on my way to work one day: ...I initially got stuck behind the guy as he cut me off pulling out in front of me in a 45mph area of highway. Crap, he took a while to get up to speed and I just knew he was going to have a hay day slowing down! With the way he was squatting, I thought he was using a 1/2 ton! I also thought it was a bumper pull trailer too. Turns out, he did indeed use a 3/4 ton with a gooseneck! Wonder what his plans were? Yikes! I don't even think he was bothered by the load either!

I'm just getting my bearings, testing my ability to get in/out, my gear (cane, walker, Travelscoot). I've decided a full adjustable power seat is a requirement. After a test sit, I've been going over the equipment list & packages for different makes to see what is needed to get the power seat. Avenger is on my short list! But I have to get off the lot with a longer test drive. I'm not sold on the current crop of tiny engines... but I've had good & powerful cars with 2.4 & 2.5L both 4 & 6 cylinders. I'm not hung up on cylinder count. It's been entertaining. The Cirrus (1997) is running ok, has no current repairs needed. Gets 27mpg. I'm seeing…

Gut tells me that we might be in for a wild ride this winter. At least out west anyway as the jet stream has been running more radical with changing air masses, long sweeps running north and down south. I'm not a paid weather man so could be wrong. Just make sure you get plenty firewood in and truck's ready to roll.

I have to say something, in regards to Robin Willams suicide. People ask how could someone so bright and happy with a nice life, family, kids, etc someone that on the outside has it all, ever want to end it all. The majority of the population have not the faintest idea what the struggles of depression and the thought of suicide have on the human brain and thought process. Having had many of these struggles in the past and still on occasion today I know full well what some of the reasoning is. Hurt. He very may well have wanted to stop hurting his loved ones. People that struggle with addiction and depression don't want to hurt the ones that care about them. They get cl…
