I stopped off at a scale today, 8430 without me it in. That's a full tank of fuel, and normal winter stuff in the toolbox, and a cleaned out cab/bed. Considering I am running around 250lbs more tire/wheel than I used to that isn't bad.

Haven't been able to do it this burning season due to the cold and the snow. Anyhow, got up there today and got it done. Cap looked the worst, but that's to be expected as it's the coldest part. Wound up with just under 5 cups (measured) of brown, fluffy creosote/soot. Last year, being my first year burning, I swept once a month just to gauge how I was doing. Never got more than 2 cups then. I was able to get up on the roof regularly also!! I have about 5 feet of double walled stove pipe going into 11 feet of stainless chimney pipe. I don't think the amount I got is bad at all. Probably would've been less had I gotten more wood into my shed before the snow …

Engineering, The perfect partnership between physics and design, a tangible record of man greatest achievements, created out of necessity perfected with technology, built to endure the test of time. The world is altered by these creations, some assist our way of life some promote our demise, engineering is a complex mysterious and ingenious idea brought to life by invention, machines used to build machines, some have limited purpose superceded by a new idea, but every so often that idea become a mechanical masterpiece, one that can not be surpassed and can not be made redundant by a new design, the two stroke engine is one such masterpiece it's power to weight ratio is Su…

I don't think I actually posted this yet, if I did, I apologize! Long story short, when we moved out of North Carolina, we loaded up most of our household goods into an ABF trailer, and then the wife, kids and dogs loaded up in the jeep, and I hooked up the truck to the camper. I had the stakebeds on, with ALL of my tools and a bunch of other items strapped down on the flatbed, and the camper was probably close to about 8k with everything we had packed in it. Got on the road, and headed out. We've made the drive to Indy a few times, but still use the gps. I decided not to use my phone gps, to keep the phone free to talk to the wife if I needed to, and used the T…

Unloaded a truck load of trusses this morning. Windy and just under 40*. Didn't have any gloves on so the hands got cold. So when I was done I went over to the truck reached in and hit the switch, forgetting it was in gear , reverse to be specific. As soon as I hit the switch it was obvious the truck was in reverse and the split second it took to notice this, the engine caught. The truck went backwards about 1 foot and the hitch hit the dumpster, about 4k#'s, pushed it about 7 or 8 feet until the rear went off the pavement and caught in the dirt. Now I remember a post here a while back where someone said you take one of these trucks and put the bumper against a wall and …

I shot milk out my nose over this weekend from what I saw on an "informercial" at 0 dark thirty in the AM over this past weekend. Here's the story……….. I got home from my retriever clubs "upland training" day on Saturday about 1:30PM, Unloaded my pooches, had a bite of lunch, and then decided to split the wood that I had scrounged the day prior. Wood splitting went without issue, as it was about 7*F when I did it……………………I love splitting wood when it's cold!!!! Split probably close to 1.5 cord of Box Elder with my Fiskars X-25. After that; I need wood for the stove in the house, so I clear the snow off the tarp I have covering my most seasoned wood and m…

In 78-79, you couldn't swing a dead cat without hitting a kid with a snow shovel walking down the street. I know, I was one of 'em. All joking aside, I'd pay fair coin for some youngster to shovel my driveway.

A Pilot Father's Love... Most people today think it improper to discipline children, so I have tried other methods to control kids when they have had one of 'those moments.' Since I'm a pilot, one method that I have found very effective is for me to just take the child for a short flight during which I say nothing and give the child the opportunity to reflect on his or her behavior. I don't know whether it's the steady vibration from the engines, or just the time away from any distractions such as TV, video games, computer, iPod, etc. Either way, the kid usually calms down and stops misbehaving after our flight together. I believe that eye to ey…

Pretty simple question here. I am going to put together a BLDC. (boost leak detection contraption) as I feel I have a small leak in the upper boost pressures (only seeing about 24psi) What do you use, how did you build it and what parts are used to build it?

US may not mandate nor the insurance companies, but, why not anyways? I think the good outweighs the negative in this instance. Protect yourself from people, protect yourself from corruption. Get it on video, and you win 90% of the battle! http://spytechs.com/Car-Cameras/default.htm

For over two years Michael & I have been involved in a legal matter that we were unable to tell you about because we were in and out of court. Betty is our rural postal carrier & over 2 years ago her husband sold off everything he could lay his hands on to (guns, property, atvs etc) to raise cash, filed for divorce and then fled the state of Idaho. Betty was hit broadsided! She came to Mike & I for help. Now Betty is an abuse and rape victim but Betty is also deaf. She works 6 days a week and could not see how she could contest a divorce. Mike & I set to work to put in a method to assist her. We went to meet her attorney, Steve F. (appointed by Rose Advoca…

My little chocolate dog was entered in, and passed her first test toward the "upland title" per HRC (Hunting Retriever Club) today. I'd grader her about an 86% today. Gonna run again tomorrow. Sorry, no pix as I was a worker today as well as a participant in the tests. Just bragging a bit. I'll post some pix up of "little chocolate dog"; and hopefully ribbons….plural………after this weekend!!! Hitting the sack now.

Man! Okay, so I work the night shift now, and we have just recently accumulated about 3 inches or so of snow. On the way back home, I will hit county road and the plow stops at the city line until the city is done, then they will do county. So me and the wife are cruising down the road, I'm doing speed limit(35). Stupid me took it out of 4wd when I shoulda left it in... ...and then 2 deer jump out in front of me! Alright, what to do? Do I keep going and hit one, or do I try and maneuver out of the way to avoid them? Ahh, I will rev the truck a little and scare them out of the way! HA! Yea, woulda worked in 4wd, not 2wd! So it began, we do the sideways thing, and …
