My youngest son has had a love affair for S 10 pickups but has been without one for a long while. Found a 98 with 140k for 800 bucks. Original paint and was in pretty fair shape for a 22 year old truck. Anyway he wraps vehicles of all shapes and sizes and is transforming this one. Got to watch him for a while this afternoon. Makes it look so easy, even if his socks are a bit strange h This one is for you @JAG1 If you close you can see the top of his son's head. Good 3rd gen day for the Ripleys.

I’ve had a solar system with one 100w panel. I want to get it mounted to my travel trailers roof. 2017 Forest river Grey wolf. I want to install everything clean. Meaning nothing hanging over the side. Everything except the panel of course ran through and mounted inside the trailer. Does anyone have pictures of their install and advise on doing this? Later on I will add more panels. Thanks!

I'm starting a general all around thread about trucks and summer heat. I know there is lots of you out there doing searching about overheating, high EGT's and other heat issues like transmission. The biggest thing to remember anything thing that is creating heat is cause by some sort of load. Engine Cooling System Now how long has it been since you flushed out your cooling system? Don't buy into those coolants that claim 100k to 150k miles before failing. I would say about every 3 years tops should be flushed. Then about 70k to 80k miles in miles. Completely flush the block out with garden hose till there is no solid material or coola…

  5. Yes I got sucked into their better price on a Bar-B-Que skillet. They are a scam company. After not getting my confirmation in my email I looked up their physical address which brought me to an Ace Hardware in Florida. When I called they explained I'm about the 36th caller to ask about an order and that ECM Hardware as they are called, is using their address. They turned them in to the Gov't but, they doubt anything will be done. Lesson to be learned, shared.......Never order anything from anyone unless you check all reviews and actually talk with them on the phone. Please be careful the world is getting crazier more lawless and little no one to keep things in check.

  6. Since we got the camper, my wife casually mentioned getting a newer truck. For me that just means newer than what I currently have but nowhere near a new truck. I've noticed a couple 3rd gens for sale and the main thing I am interested in having would be a real crew cab with a manual transmission. The 2nd gen I have now, I've had longer than any other truck, just over 7 years while I usually change up around 5 years. I've heard the 3rd gens tend to need injectors every 100k miles, but aside from that not much else. I recently rolled over 250k miles as well and know that in my price range I'll be looking at truck with around 200k already. My truck mostly just sits an…

  7. One of these years (hopefully lots of years) my grandkids in Calif will probably end up with my pickup. Wondering if this ruling effects people with adrenaline in California. Law took effect just a couple days ago I understand. https://www.motortrend.com/news/california-illegal-ecm-tuning-smog-test/

I enjoy his channel a lot as it helps me think outside my own box, but this one seems fitting to the forum. Lots of interesting thoughts and information. Statistically lots of lives can be saved.

Just working on The Beast. Got the steering box adjusted good. Fixing my fuse for the alternator. New seat covers and even washed The Beast off. Had to have a few tools so Thor got in on the photo.

I'm starting to hear on the local radio that McCall ID is calling for water conservation. Giving guides on watering at night, using hose timers, etc. For myself its been a bad year just trying to keep water going. The loggers that log out behind us happened to damage two pots in the water line. Between the neighbor and myself we managed to get water going. Shortly after that fix I ended up having a filter problem down hill at my place. Mud and needles washed down and plugged the sediment filter. Clean the cup out and filter and now noticed the sand wore the bottom of the filter cup out. so thin it was leaking water out at 120 PSI through small cracks in the cup. I happen …

I have trees showing stress from lack of rain and excessive heat, so for past week I have been running my well pump 24/7 moving the irrigation every 24 hrs. The trees after a day or so are looking better. It's a good well never runs out but, I'm concerned for the well pump down in the well at 71 feet. My well guy sold me a ceramic pump, is now 26 yrs old, is showing no signs of weakness. I can run two hoses full without weakening pressure and supply the house just fine' My question is Should I give the pump a rest? Been going for a week now. T.I.A.

Picked up a few nice peices from a retired pattern maker A Harrison 140 lathe 3 phase 415v 11" old money which was measured as a total, or 140mm, centre of chuck to bed, maybe 2ft or more bed length, including a phase converor to go from 240V single phase to 415V 3 Phase, this has took 3 days to clean after years of being covered in saw dust, swarfe etc, in really good condition, this is not going to be sold, shame it isn't big enough to skim up my trucks rear drums Zimmerman 2ft disc sander 3 phase 415v, tilting bed, sold new to Pegsons crusher manufactures just down the road from where I live in 1977, cleaned and on ebay Wadkin bobbin sa…

  15. Took the boat out today with kids, got to the ramp backed in set the parking brake started to unload the boat, then all the sudden my truck started rolling into the lake. I ran up jumped inside but my foot got caught between the corner of the door and handrail of the boat dock. I should have known better than trusting the parking brake, usually I put it in the gear and shut it off, the ramp was not very steep and it held fine for good while then all the sudden it just started rolling. I was parked a little close to the dock as I usually unload the boat and tie it off. Everything happens so fast I didn't even realize it till I was walking back to the boat and my shoe was w…

Got home last night and got a phone call. It was on of the local member in Council ID. (Josh) @01WorkBody. He's got a a 2000 Dodge Cummins 2500 with utility bed. He had several questions about performance. Eventually I did a road test. He's got 35 inch tires on 4.10 gears. Engine wise with +50 HP injectors with a larger turbo and no tuner. We talked about adding the Quadzilla to help control smoke and EGTs. Transmission wise He's got a stock 47RE which he wants to change to a G56 trans. Even for the 2 hour standing outside in the parking lot of Subway we had a good time. Josh has no problem turning wrench being the utility box has everything to tear down a full truck. I p…

Hey gang... Just a general tech tip. If your coolant has been in your truck for 3 years or about 75k miles you should consider doing a coolant flush and new thermostat. Then you might check your A/C pressures and top off the freon. Double check all your fluids axles, transmission and transfer case (if applicable). Brake fluid is another that needs to be changed every 30k miles as so does power steering fluid.

I got a customer that called me asking about his clutch in his 94 Toyota. I went over to his place and hopped in the cab and could feel the pedal was super soft and like its not even pumping. I pumped the pedal up and could make a good shift. I knew at this point the hydraulics on the clutch were fried. The brake fluid was black in color. (day ends) Next day I'm down in town getting supplies for another job. Stopped at the local Chevron. This customer happen to be there. He was talking to guys at Chevron about changing the clutch hydros. My friend there was like I've never seen a Toyota clutch need to be replace. I was say you should have to repla…

  19. Well the wife and I have been looking to get out of Colorado Springs and onto land with water. We were first looking at Montana, but it seems like that was a popular place as of late so the cost was above what we were willing to do. As we expanded our search east we found a place in northern MN, about 20 miles from where I grew up, for sale on the bank of the Rainy River. Our current house is going on the market today and May 1 is the move in date for MN. For just a few bucks more than we are selling here, 1130 sq ft 1/16 acre in the middle of town, we got onto 80 acres on the river. Thankfully my job follows me so I dont hav…
