Just trying to get to know the folks here and thought I'd ask what everyone does for a living? Some of you know enough that I'm guessing there are at least a few Dodge techs amongst us? Maybe?I'm the Equipment Manager, basically a service/fleet manager, for the golf and grounds department at Turning Stone Resort in NY. I manage 3 shops with 6 Equipment Techs and we maintain and repair all the equipment for our department. Everything from chainsaws to excavators for a crew of 125+ operators during the growing season and 50 operators when we are on our snow plow schedule. I also have my own repair business that I run nights and weekends. Mostly turf equipment but I occasionally take in other work as well. The bulk of the work is grinding reel mowers, small diesel repairs, and a lot of hydraulic work.So, what do you do if you don't mind me asking?

Kinda just doing whatever that gets me by.I do not have much to speak of since I'm just a young buck.Started out doing Glazing in the construction field when I got out of high school. Downturn of the economy caused me to be laid off from construction. Got into manufacturing for a little bit as spotty as it was. Worked in a lumber mill for a little bit. Too dangerous for my taste...Now, I'm trying to get back into Glazing as it seems like construction is picking back up a bit.Been a volunteer firefighter for the past year and going on a half.The sky is the limit... Would like to be a FF/Paramedic.

Right now a Plumber Foreman for a fairly large company here in Mn. (www.ricelake.org) building and rebuilding city sewer plants, Pipefitter for the last 12 years, plumber for a few years before that, 8 1/2 years experience as a truck driver (been in 47 states and 4 provinces of Canada in one year by my self), and worked in the woods cutting pulpwood. That was my last 34 years worth. I have been turning wrenches on the side for about 45 years or so, but no real experience!! Hope to retire in about 8 years............

I joined in the ARMY as an MSE operator (mobile subscriber equipment, front line communications) I have pretty much been doing mobile communications since. I currently work for the #2 carrier in the country. But they way they are running the business into the ground with micromanaging metrics, i have a 5 year plan to retire. Im done working for idiots.I build powerful gaming rigs (computers) for fun, i can fix most anything electrical or electronic, electromechanical, to component levels. Mechanic by hobby since 5 years old, bikes, trucks, cars, engines..i invent stuff as well and currently working on a few things for cruisers.

Sales for Drywall and Steel framing mainly, but also sale about any construction related tool you can think of as well as anything else for the building industry materials wise I can get my hands on. Been here going on 7 years, since right out of college, and spent the first 4.5 in purchasing and the last 2+ selling it. Then there is all that hobby type stuff like anyone else.

Well I have an Associates in auto mechanics and have worked as an Auto Tech for the local electric coop for about 5 years now. Also help farm on the side driving a 4930 spray rig for a local farmer as well as haul grain to Fort Worth as well since i have my class A cdl. Lastly me and a buddy lease about 100acres that we usually keep some cattle on and cut hay on part of it as well.-Jordan-

My real first job was a fly boy (printer) for the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. Then I joined the US Air Force back in 1968 to 72 while crew chief for helicopters, spent a year in Vet-Nam.

I was a Design draftsman for IT&T Blackburn the industry drop off the face of the earth. I ended up becoming a union carpenter for 35 years now I am an Amsoil Direct Distributor & Lubrication Specialist.

From the time I was 15 or so till the end of October of last year I worked for my dad building storage barns and doing whatever other construction projects people had for him to do, then last year I started at a local trucking company washing trucks and since about a month ago I am now a maintenance mechanic for the same company.On the side I also do repairs on just about anything electronics, computers, cars/trucks, lawn equipment, and the list goes on.I'm thinking about possibly joining the USAF here in the next year or so too but I'm still not quite sure what I want to do yet.

Guess that I am lucky that I am still young enough to be able to do it. Although at times it is frustrating, such as today. We went out to move some cows and calves, it did not go as planned. Calves went one way, cows went another way and we had no dogs to help. But most of the time it is very enjoyable.

Bill, it's not that we're 'to old now for a change' ... It's that we've finally found a somewhat comfort zone that took years and years to get, and it's hard to give it up.

It's a pretty good gig

I map fracs for a living. Used to frac for a living. Mechanical engineer by training but getting close to something like geophysics/fracture engineer/petroleum engineering at this point... I get a lot of field time on my projects as well, which is nice.

I farm some land and run cows with my Dad. We run a custom silage operation in the summer and in winter I usually find a job running dozer doing oil field construction.

I hear what you're saying Jonathan. Ever heard of, or been to a seminar on stockmanship by Bud Williams? I've been to a couple and it's made a huge difference in how we handle our cattle.

In the First Response Scene for the last 18 years. Paramedic in a rural community. Worked construction for 10 years along with the First Response stuff. Past 8 years only as a Paramedic.
