Well I've made it home for the summer and it's time to start tearing this thing apart. I will begin tomorrow, but yesterday I took it to the dyno. Laid down 503 / 1215. I was very pleased with the numbers, but the knocking is getting worse to it's time to take it apart.

  • IT RUNS!!!!! Video coming later. Barely any smoke, surprisingly.   This thing runs soooooo smooth. I only ran it for five minutes (Per Hamilton instructions.) But it's nice to know it's running and

You got any pics or documentation on your build. I'm interested in seeing it.

Which one? Vp thread and ppump thread are on cf. I am not transferring all that nonsense over here. Far too much crap lol,

@dripley if you are ever in Michigan let me know. I'll take you for a ride in greeny that will open your eyes and probably corrupt you on the longevity pursuit. :burnout: :lol3:

Alright @Me78569 I hid the stuff in the other thread so we don't clutter up his stuff.

So from what I gather AFC live controls two things. 1: How much boost reaches the AFC. 2: How fast boost going into the AFC ramps up. Let's see if we can come up with something!

Oh the H1000, have you seen the thread on CF? It'll be pretty cool when he's done.

Yep looks afc live looks like the canbus tuning on a linear fashion.    I mean I could....  maps and ooo and yea

yea I have been reading his thoughts I really wanna get a h1000 to play with

I think the hardest part is getting the dang thing mounted to the truck. Figuring out how to run everything else doesn't seem bad.

I'll have to look up some parts for the AFC live stuff.

Nope, something mechanical internal in the rotor.   The electrical signals and responses from the pump were all  A-Ok

He does very good work!!!

Well the 215 pump I found ended up having a stuck rack. If @jlbayes would reply I would know whether it would be worth going after or not :shifty:

If not I've got another 215 pump lined up for 900 or a 180 pump for 700. Decisions Decisions.

I picked up a 180 pump today. For me it didn't matter 180 or 215 pump as they will both flow enough to break the transmission. I'm thinking I'll put in 4k governor springs, remove the fuel plate, install an AFC max travel kit, and order AFC live to control fuel. @jlbayes tell me if something sounds dumb here....

I also need to find a shutoff solenoid bracket (current one is broke), and a shutoff solenoid. The timing pin was missing, but I am going to pick up a timing kit, so I shouldn't need it.

I never realized how tiny the VP was compared to this thing!

Yeah its a small engine in itself, when I had my 12 valve that I should of never sold,  I looked at p pump and was like :thud::drool:  good luck with your built man we're all jealous.

When my 1st VP went I was talking to the Dodge mechanic about truck and he had one is hand. Thought it went on my truck. Shows what I knew back 04. But after having a couple VP;s in my hand I never knew they were that much bigger.

I was sick woman! Calm yourself.

I took the pump apart yesterday to make sure everything was free and I could install the new parts when they show up.

This plug was a PITA! I heated it with a butane torch, used a 10mm hex key, hammered it in, and beat it with a hammer until it came loose. You can see all of the glue / sealant on the plug and pump.

Pulled the rack plug since I have a new one on the way.

Slotted all of the tamper proof screws with a dremel and cutoff wheel.

I then used a screwdriver impact to pop all of the screws loose. That tool works wonders.

I popped the top plug on the AFC loose. This SOB was tight!

AFC pulled off. Not sure if it's normal for the foot to be angled?? @jlbayes does it look okay?

IMG_20170313_221238348_zpsdadpe53g.jpg

Here you can see just a touch of wear on the foot. Again not sure if it's normal to wear like this.

Stock fuel plate in the stock location. I scribed around it so I know where it was from the factory.

Here's inside the pump. Not sure if it's normal to be angled like this.

Pulled the shutdown bracket to get inside the governor.

Diaphragm inside the pump looks good.

I was surprised just how far the rack sticks out the front of the pump.

Parts should be here tomorrow. Not sure when they'll get installed though. I'll have to take the AFC into the machine shop to do a little work for full travel.
