Bleeding Air from Fuel with No Start
I normally slide the entire line nut out of the way so I can see the fuel spray from the driver seat. This way a single man doing the job can see if its pumping or not.

Bleeding Air from Fuel with No Start
I just had a Dodge that didn't want to fire. So we pull the the intercooler tube from the intake horn. Then disconnected the grid heaters are the relays. Then had a second man crank the engine and very quick burst of starting fluid at the intake horn from a distance so its just a light cloud being inhaled. Started right up. Again. I really do mean very small burst of spray. Doesn't take very much to get it to light off. Do not spray into the horn then crank. Do not spray large amounts either. I've seen even my truck get this way and refuse to prime up a few times and this is all I do to get it light off.

NV4500 Fluid Change
No problems really. It got a few weird idiosyncrasy yet but other than that shifting good. The syncros are tight in the 1st and 2nd slot so I've ben hitting 3rd then popping back to 1st or 2nd as needed. This is only while stopped. I've also had Abe at Weller Truck look it over and he's not worried about it. Just tight yet. Like I said the fluid is still clean and clear no carbon color yet. As the miles stack up it doing better and better like 5th use to be the same way but very rare to hang up any more. Not really.. Compare 75w-85 to 50 SAE. http://www.tribology-abc.com/abc/viscosity.htm#classificaties

02 47RE to NV4500 Conversion
This is the same reason I will not do a p7100 pump conversion being fly by wire cruise would be ruined.

NV4500 Fluid Change
I check my fluid after 10k miles and still clean as it comes out of the jug. Still over filled. Working very well and no issues. Carbon fiber syncros and not wearing or leaving any carbon in the oil as of yet. Going to check again at 20k miles.

02 47RE to NV4500 Conversion
Both PCM and ECM would have to be change to for manual with fly by wire cruise. Being the PCM is the cruise control module and the ECM is getting the throttle from the PCM not the APPS. So the software of both modules have to match.

How's everyone doing?
Well I'm getting ready for another snow storm to come in tonight and drop about 4-8 inches. As for MoparMom she doing good yet and still in Boise yet. Still working out the bugs and training for her. She is doing good.

06 Cummins dead pedal
After doing the digging on CF about this issue it seems fairly common that the APPS sensor tends to get flaky in cold weather and doing weird things. Most report after replacing APPS sensor the problem goes away. Still rather weird there is very little aftermarket APPS sensors for 10 year old truck. I found that Geno's sell them, RockAuto and a few internet stores.

What are the best LED headlight bulbs and housing options?
Like my fog lights (100w aircraft light) Day time I find my hi beam bulbs are complete froze over with ice. Just got to flip on the high for few seconds and the ice is gone. Day time high temps with minus numbers takes longer to shed the ice.

How's everyone doing?
Back to a normal winter. This is Dec 2016 times just yesterday. We barely made a high of -16*F here.

Flushing the coolant system and removing rust.
Since rust is heavier that water you'll never see the rust in the neck of the radiator. Most of the rigs I've drained always comes out rusty colored in the last gallon of coolant. So run your span of miles you picked and the drain it out and see if the color holds true with the last gallon. This applies to both diesel and gas engines.

Pets and bitter cold
Sad to say out here the is only one hardware store and provides only 1 brand of ice melter salt. The only way I can get that stuff is drive the 4.5 hours to Boise or 3.5 hours to Ontario, OR to get such a thing.

Quadzilla Adrenaline V2 Testing
My last run the best I could do was about 18-19 MPG it's pulling the MPG down hard when you start dropping IAT temp. The only solution I've got is to cut the total timing back even more like 1-2* degrees total. Problem is the ECM is programmed for 40-45 cetane and cranking the timing up. Here the cetane is like 50-53 so the timing is already in the fuel and not required. Bad part is the ECM and Quadzilla can't see fuel changes.

Pets and bitter cold
I just let him out a bit ago and he ran out fast across the walkway and got to the snow didn't bother him. Then he circled back around through the snow to hop up on the last step to get to the porch. No problems. The time before that he was lifting paws again because he just walked up the walkway in the salt path. Diesel been a house dog for all these years thin skins and light furred as well. It is what it is...

06 Cummins dead pedal
Yes sir. The APPS sensor and pedal are one piece design. 2 bolts and 1 plug you are done. So far I'm having trouble sourcing out this APPS sensor. I'm going to make phone calls to vendors I know and see who call point me in the right direction. I do have the option of the RockAuto yet but unknown where it's coming from and how long to get here. NAPA is quoting better than 7 days because the closest one is in Virgina. Not going to work for @Taz. Here is another one... https://www.carid.com/standard/accelerator-pedal-sensor-mpn-aps312.html

Quadzilla Adrenaline V2 Testing
I've learn something today. With temperatures at about -16*F in New Meadows, Idaho at about 12-1pm. I need to drop more timing. The manifold temp drops to barely 45-50*F and the timing is getting way to aggressive and killing the MPG number. I could just flip the MPG fooler on but I'm attempting to work solely with the Quadzilla Adrenaline and figure out how to keep optimal MPG numbers.

Pets and bitter cold
I think I got it figured out. What I think is happening is that I salted the walkway and when Diesel bails off the steps into the snow he's fine. Then he runs through the yard no problem but if he walks back up that salted walkway his paws must start burning bad because starts limping and lifting his rear paws. I've checked the paw pads and there is no cuts that I've seen or open wounds. That's the only idea I've got now.

06 Cummins dead pedal
All I know that is when it dead pedals there is nothing just like mine would. There is no codes for the APPS sensor at all. Seems to be weather-related the colder the cab becomes the worse the problem is. I just check at the local NAPA and its 236 dollars for one and at least week out from Virginia. So now I'm looking for other vendors or resources to getting a new sensor for Taz truck. I see RockAuto has one for 137 which isn't bad. I was hoping for other vendors as well to crunch numbers a bit more. Rather weird the way the APPS is behaving and no codes to point it out. I've read several forum post where this is common but most of the time they report codes with it. So the only common ground is the dead pedal and cold weather.

Transmission noise
That is not a electrical issue. That is a mechanical issue. Return the electrical back to stock configuration. Remove all these mods and test the alternator if you are going to chase AC noise issues. Again this is a mechanical issue. You might want to drop the pan look for debris. Another thing it could be is the flexplate is cracked or failing.

06 Cummins dead pedal
First off I can say there is no error codes to the APPS sensor. There is a wastegate error (IIRC) P0234. Still there is a dead pedal issue but no codes. I want to verify that I should replace the APPS sensor or not first. When it does dead pedal the exhaust will set and and no throttle. @Taz said yesterday he had no exhaust brake at all and dead pedal 4 times in 15 miles. Any help?

Pets and bitter cold
It's only +16*F here at my place right now. I just let Diesel out to take a leak. I've never seen him do this before. He was wondering around in the snow here in the yard. You can see him not walking so good. He started limping back to the porch. The when he got there he was holding his rear paws up one at a time, like the bitter cold was burning like it would if you had your hands in the without gloves. Felt sorry for him I pick him up and carried him in the last few feet inside the house. Once stood on the warm stone in the house he was all good again. So... What do you guys do for your pets in the bitter cold? I know he's got to go back out again later but I know he's not liking the idea. Ideas, suggestions?

Wood Burners

Birthday present came...
I'm not worried typically I do my firewood in April or May in the early spring. I try to never haul wood at the end of the year it can't cure the firewood out hauling it home in October. Again not an issue.

Ban diesel vehicles by 2025
I was never in the military. I never had training by my parents. I was taught by a good friend on the weekends and went out into the desert of California for target practice. I live near the worse neighborhoods that gang violence was common place and shootings. I could tell all kinds of stories of gang violence and shoot and weapons I've seen through my teenage years.
