  1. Your not the only one who has told me that YabbaDoo, my friend is from the panhandle and has been telling me that for years.
  2. To the untrained eye that looks beautiful, to anyone else that looks like a bunch of work. I am in southeast WI and it is currently 42 w/ fog and drizzle. I miss summer. I like the heat and humidity. All of my snow equipment is ready, the only thing I didn't do yet is put on tire chains. I hate the wet heavy snow, last time this area received over a foot of that, there were a lot of roof's collapsing. Mainly barns and sheds though.
  3. I will take pictures. You are correct drive pressure. I was going to use a boost guage for this. Not sure if I should buy a 60 or 100 psi guage. Plan to install in the dp and use some coiled copper tubing to cool off the exhaust. Unless someone makes something specifically for this. I have some more checking around to do. Otherwise this is the plan for now. Update. Lazarsmith makes something especially for this http://www.lazarsmith.com/Gauges.html.
  4. I ordered a Pacbrake on Friday, should be here this week. I emailed DDP and never got a response. Going to wait for it to arrive and start looking into the mounting situation. I may try to get a hold of them or just order flanges for the exhaust. I will update as the project progresses. I was thinking of permanently installing a boost guage to monitor brake performance. Not sure if this is needed but I have been tossing it around.
  5. I received a post card mailer from a law office a few years ago about a class action lawsuit against cummins. It pertained to the owners who had 53 blocks that failed. It said if you had one and it cracked, you could be entitled to a $500 settlement, only if you fixed it and had the receipts to prove it. I assume a fix was a not the lock n stitch, but engine replacement. That was the first thing that came to my mind when I read this.
  6. It pops off just like it sounds. When I pull mine off I usually start at the top by the instrument cluster and gently pull it out(towards you). Once I get a gap I can get my fingers in and slowly work around the edge until all the fasteners are released.
  7. I believe there are two on the bottom and two under the bezel that diesel4life mentioned. I pulled out mine to put the CB in its place cause it was useless to me.
  8. Nice, that will be a well built unit and easy to use.
  9. Good to hear everyone is ok. About a 2 or 3 years ago(I don't remember which but I do remember it was December 17). My mom rolled her jeep we think it was 2.5 times ending on the roof. She called 911 and couldn't get through due to a lot of accidents, called my dad, no luck. Then she called me, It was around 6 and I was getting ready for work. I will never forget that call. I got a hold of dad and jumped in my truck. By the time I got there she was out and getting checked out in one of the trucks. One of fire fighters told me they were heading for another accident down the road when they saw her jeep. He said he jumped out and slipped on the ice, it was slick. She was able to walk away with only bumps and bruises. I use to like winter, but now I really don't like anything about it anymore.
  10. Looks good. Is there some sort of seal between the plywood and the box to block water. Like adhesive backed weather striping?
  11. Looked like a good vacation, I like the fall colors.
  12. Sorry I don't have a picture of that. The others explained it quite well though. It's pretty easy to do the valves, just take your time.
  13. I googled it and came up with one at summit racing. It would only let me go back to 2002 dodge ram 2500 which should be the same. Some times I wonder if the application calculator is correct. Don't look like there is much too it. Could modify it to work on your truck. I had to do that for a brush guard I had for my truck. It was made to fit a regular ram bumper not the sport. I fabbed up some brackets and bolted it on. Here's a link to summit.http://www.summitracing.com/parts/nfb-d025lb/applications/make/dodge/model/ram-2500/year/2002
  14. Yes, you are correct. Here's a picture for reference. TDC mark is at the 12o'clock position
  15. I originally bought the barring tool for a Case IH tractor with a 5.9. I have since used it on my truck a few times. I like having the right tool for the job.
  16. I wouldn't turn the nut behind the cover that is the Injection pump nut. Turning the alternator would be a better alternative, along with the crank damper bolts. The way I prefer to turn over the engine is with a barring tool. http://www.genosgarage.com/59L-ENGINE-BARRING-TOOL/productinfo/TOOL_LTBT/#.UotoEWbnZdg
  17. Behind the crankcase vent is the gear with the timing mark. There is a mark on the cover you line it up with to find TDC. Personally I would not turn the engine by the nut on the IP. I have heard of turning by using the crank damper bolts. I prefer to use the barring tool.
  18. I had this same problem a long time ago. It said no bus on the odometer. Turned out to be a loose connection under the dash. I wish I remembered more about which one it was exactly.
  19. I don't see any benefit to keeping them on, it's just a starting aid. Could look into the IAT/ECT fooler.http://forum.mopar1973man.com/threads/8317-New-revised-MPG-High-idle-switch-design?highlight=high+idle+fooler
  20. I looked at mounting it in the exhaust and weld in some flanges, but I would rather mount it between the turbo and downpipe and I talked to DPP in Spokane and that is where he recommends installing it. Less prone to leaking and it stays drier up there. I was looking to see if anyone else installed theirs this way and how it fit. I am going to call DDP and find out if I can get a short outlet to bolt on if I need to get one. I just want to have all my ducks in a row before I start on it.
  21. I am buying an inline mount setup. I am running a aftermarket turbo and am thinking I need to get a shorter outlet on the turbo to make room for the brake. It has six bolts and it comes off the housing. So then I can clamp the brake to the turbo and the downpipe to the brake without hitting the firewall. If anyone has tips or a picture of their setup that would help a lot. Thank you.
  22. That's one of many reasons I have a gas truck, My current drive in 7 miles to work. This has been very interesting to read so far.
  23. There is member on TDR that has a Espar heater installed in his truck and he loves it. I am not too familiar with them but from the quick search I did it looks like it might be something to consider.http://www.espar.com/products/fuel-operated-heaters/applications/automotive.html
  24. Usually first unless I need to move quicker than second. Changed clutch at about 146k, truck does a lot of towing. The stock clutch and the Edge did not get along very well. The one I put in has worked flawlessly.
  25. I have 4-55 watt lights. Two on the headache rack and 2 on the bumper. Been on the truck for over 4 years and haven't broken one yet. Work great and cost $48 dollars for all four. They run off of two relays and one switch. With your led's in the wheel well, it will make changing a tire at night pretty easy.
