  1. Good call JAG. Hard to keep track of whats going on when threads last so long.....
  2. Has it been said in this thread that a broken ring can cause a rough running condition.....?
  3. You can install either pump on either engine, but the timing and pressures are different which can affect performance. That said, the SO is the better of the two. And check that missing bolt hole..... Not all of them are all the way through.
  4. Aint got no time for horses..... Talk about "high maintenance".
  5. I've always loved Huskies and Malamutes but it just gets too flipping HOT around here in the summer for these thick hairy pups.....
  6. I dont remember anything being between the straps and tank. I'd have to look to confirm though.....
  7. It doesn't get as cold here as it does where you are but when its down in the low 30's or raining hard none of the pets like to go outside. Especially the older ones..... They're just like people so I'm sure the cold weather can be uncomfortable on their ailing joints. Just keep 'em comfy because their love for you is truly unconditional. A trait nowhere found in humanity.
  8. If you haven't already, remove the engine lift bracket back there and you should easily be able to reach the line with a torque wrench. But you'll still need a crows foot adapter. I think if I remember correctly, its a 3/4".
  9. Dang guys..... Where did this thread go awry? And are any of "us" really arguing about this? We all know diesels are fantastic motors which are simply being targeted by the ongoing libtard EPA movement who simply want the impossible from society.....and if they cant get that then more money from taxpayers appears to suffice. And we all also know that guns are not the problem but rather those who use them irresponsibly or with bad intentions. If I thought there was a chance any members here didn't feel this way then I'd have reservations, but I know we are ALL a good bunch of peeps. So stop the arguing and grab your pitchforks and torches.....
  10. The cause of the spark is because the belt is slipping and generating static electricity, and the edge of the dampener is close enough to allow the jump. Replace the belt with a "quality" green back belt (not the cheapest parts store belt) and I'm sure your arcing problem will go away.
  11. Why? Because your future is diesel, or you "are" the future of diesel, or diesel is your future, or you foresee something related to diesel in the future, or diesel "is" the future..... The possibilities are endless.
  12. Yes, you're correct in that the HO motors use a different VP which has more timing than the SO. Which is why the HO trucks respond better to injectors than boxes and why SO trucks respond better to boxes than injectors.....to a point.
  13. This is why people are misled into thinking diesels benefit from true cold air intakes like gasoline engines do. There's nothing wrong with keeping the intake charge cooler in order to maintain optimal air density, but if those intake temps get so low that it reduces power and mileage then it would seem as a disadvantage. In defense of that, there are applications and cases where differences apply. If the Edge comes back fine then it would be interesting to see what your new scan tool reveals is going on in live data.
  14. Those Chinese hand tools are "handy" for such disasters..... I dropped a bolt down an intake once. Fishing around with that thingy eventually got it out.
  15. I can always count on you guys to pull me out of the funk.....
  16. No FREAKING way that would have happened in my house..... And yes, environmentalists are nuts. Thats why you see vegans wearing Birkenstocks and tree huggers taking notes with paper pads and wooden pencils. They just dont see the hypocrisy in their positions. Besides, why would she think that a wood stove is bad? Would she rather you use your HVAC heater which runs off electricity generated by coal and propane or natural gas. I'm sure she was probably caught occasionally huddled up next to the woodstove keeping warm too. Should have told her to stay outside in the cold. Heck, even solar and battery systems use lead and plastics which was mined from the ground using pollutants. There's nothing environmentally friendly about a battery..... And yes, diesel is the most efficient petroleum based fuel. Thats why it became so popular when Rudolf Diesel invented the revolutionary engine back in the late 1800's. This is absolute FACT..... Volcanoes emit tens of thousands of metric tons of CO2 into the atmosphere, and many of them pop their cork every year. FAR FAR more pollutants than mankind could ever dream of emitting. Even when considering a 747 burns 1 gallon of fuel every second its in the air!!!!! Thats why the argument behind humans killing earth is so stupid. There's no proof nor facts that we have anything to do with earths cycles..... Dont succumb to the propagated arguments of liberal environmentalists because everything they base their case on is lies and deception only to make what they want seem like the only path. Diesel engines are not a dirty fuel but have been thrown into the ring of fire by globalists who want to financially control and manipulate the things that drive humanity through life. Diesels have been around since people have used combustion engines to move about. The overall number of them used has not increased nearly as much as we're told but yet all of a sudden diesel is the reason for sooooo many problems in society. Why now?.....should be the question? Could it have something to do with the reduction in gasoline engines used and they want their tax revenue faucet to continue flowing..... Again, as you point out..... Countries around the globe are huge polluters but here we Americans are called rich and uncaring because we're somehow polluting the earth more, and therefor we must conform to massive EPA emission restrictions which are financially breaking the automotive market place and forcing companies like Caterpillar to stop making on-road engines because of the financial investment it takes to conform. The Kyoto Protocol is no different that the TPP and is only built on the pretense that Globalists believe Americans are at fault for everything. You guys got me all riled up this morning.....
  17. Maybe they'll come up with some engine that runs off the hopes and dreams of liberal ideology. We have enough of that crap to last the next thousand years.....
  18. Dont know if this has been discussed here yet, but I thought its worth knowing about. I'd hate to see the rest of the world entertain this illogical logic..... http://www.bbc.com/news/science-environment-38170794
  19. Thus my statement about not liking the peeps here. California is a beautiful state but the lib's are tard's..... And yeah, be careful coming over the pass.
  20. Thats funny..... No, I dont live in Hawaii. It nice there to vacation but I dont think I could live there as I'd feel like I'm trapped on an island. Plus it rains there all the time..... I actually live in northern CA, up by Redding. I love the geography here. I can snow ski, water ski, climb a mountain, drive in the desert, camp in the forest, fish in the ocean, visit the city, etc.... Everything is well within relative driving distances and the weather is generally mild by comparison to what some of you guys deal with. Although, I dislike the some of the peeps in this state and it only gets worse the farther south you go. And Wild and Free, I totally commend what you and your wife are doing. Thats awesome.
  21. Or move..... Dont forget about moving. Just checked Fargo weather and its a balmy 1* F at 2 pm. Sounds fun.
  22. It snows about ever three to five years around here, and we had a few inches stick about two days ago.
  23. woodtrucker remind me..... Did you try disconnecting the Edge to see if your stumble goes away? NOT just turning it down either but full removal from the engine and electronics.
