  1. True there are only a few manufactures of batteries..... But of those, they build batteries for specific brand name companies per the proprietary designs for those specific brands. So point being is the Autozone battery is likely not the same as the NAPA battery or the Walmart battery or the Interstate battery. Strangely the same thing applies to chocolate too.....
  2. Sadly new means very little these days, and quality is hard to find.
  3. Charge the batteries and then leave them disconnected and see if they hold their charge. That would help you understand if the batteries are the problem or if there's something draining them.
  4. The fuel injectors dont inject all the fuel delivered to them. The excess runs out that line on the back of the head and adjoins the VP overflow outlet line at the tee fitting, where it all runs back to the fuel tank.
  5. Moparman.....you walked right into that one.
  6. Ditch digging pays pretty good.....because those jobs are usually social service positions. The days of digging ditches with shovels for pennies are no longer.
  7. Good find. I'm looking for one too, but 4wd. And with a clam would be great too.

OK then..... 1) Whats are you doing? A drag race? Screwing around? 2) Why the flags? 3) If this is an organized event then it seems kinda lackadaisical as bystanders are just chilling on the sidelines.
  9. Did you check the fluid to see if there's suspended metallic material? Take it for a short drive and then dump a little fluid in a cup and see what it looks like.
  10. Congratulations on the new career. Just dont be posting your new listings in the classified section.....
  11. Where do you live? Vostok Station?
  12. Pffffft..... Who needs one of those fancy tools. Assembly is so easy, especially when you can easily stink up the house warming up a can of engine oil on the kitchen stove and then simply dunking the end of the hose for a few minutes. You'll only pop a few eye blood vessels and hopefully not blow though your shorts as you soil yourself trying to shove the two pieces together with all the strength you can muster.....generally resulting in a small gap between hose and fitting as you near the end, followed by some harsh language. Maybe I do need one.

I have many questions about whats going on in that photo.....
  14. Gotta know what happened to help.....
  15. Just Google automotive battery state of charge chart and you'll better understand what the tester is telling you. That said, 12.7 is 100% charge and 12.2 is around 60%.
  16. Aint it crazy.....? It was almost too hot last night. And whats really weird is the weathers so tropical that everything is wet no matter if its in the garage, shop, or wherever. Nothing would dry off unless its in the house. Like being in Mexico.....
  17. If the batteries have been drained of capacity low enough to not crank the engine then thats never good. But if they're drained like that more than a few times and the odds are that the cells are toast and wont hold a decent charge. If your batteries are draining as fast as you say then something is clearly draining them and needs to be found. A tender wont help.
  18. I'm not sure how the weather is where all you guys live but the outside temperatures today are around 25* warmer than they just were. Creeks are getting FULL.
  19. Fuel returning to the basket serves as a couple things. Ensuring there is fuel available to the engine when the fuel level gets very low, as long as there's fuel in the tank. And keeping the supply line fuel warm in cool climates. Something which can be counter productive in the hot summer heat, but keeping the fuel level from getting too low helps keep fuel temps from getting too hot. The fuel module basket is not a required thing but it sure helps the 1/4 tank problem lots of people experience after installing the drawstraw. Installation errors of the drawstraw generally are the reason too. Cant say whether or not people are seeing overall positive results with the new sumps either but aside fro allowing all the tank crud t easily make its way into the fuel supply, a sump seems like a way to get all the fuel out of the tank.
  20. Whats the time frame? How long is the truck sitting before the batteries are seemingly loosing voltage? And have you done a parasitic drain test?
  21. I've lived in this state my whole life and I've seen the weather patterns swing in both directions. And I've seen the difference between a "real" drought and a "political" drought. Make no mistake, there is plenty of water in this state above ground and below. Whats really going on is the media is making a mockery of this story, and for whatever reason people easily buy into what the media/legislation tells them.....strangely without thinking for themselves. The real story no one wants to talk about is Gov Brown is pushing heavily for an underground water pipe from northern CA to southern CA. This aqueduct would override any current water allotments from the north and allow southern CA to take whatever they want. Obviously not what the people north of Sacramento think is best, and without the power of media propagating a catastrophic "drought", Browns aqueduct agenda losses merit. So no matter how much water we have pouring down on us, and no matter how full our rivers and lakes are and have been, they still cry drought so that Brown maintains his leverage to shove his legislation down our throats. He's even asking Obama to help push it through via executive order before he leaves office in the next couple weeks. Frigging politicians SUCK. Cant get the people to agree so shove it through via EO. That said, southern CA will always suffer from low water conditions because of the sheer number of peeps in relation to the complete lack of water reservoirs they have for themselves. And because most of it is desert dirt covered in cement/asphalt, most water they get down there just runs off into the ocean. Bad planning because of environmental movements which hobble any action which truly solves the problem. Heaven forbid anyone build another dam in this county..... I could go on and on about this but I dont want to clog up a good thread about politics. Just know that the CA "drought" has been over for a long long time and what you hear about CA is media propaganda for political gains.
  22. It snowed here last night too. Morning rains are making short work of it though. Anyone watching the weather channel (something I find myself doing more often as I age), must have noticed the weather pattern sweeping across the nation. There's places seeing freezing/snowing weather this weekend which havent received cold like that in years.....or EVER.
  23. The only differences between the DRW and SRW Dana 80 is the spindles which allow for the duals. So I would say for simplicity..... You can run the axle you have which will result in the rear tires sticking out a couple inches. Or just find a SRW Dana 80. Because swapping in a Dana 70 will require a few changes including driveline length.
  24. Thats a TINY tractor. Is it peddle powered?
