Fuel Pressure Issue
Good to know.....

Front drive shaft double cardan joint
Interesting..... Can you elaborate on what you found out? Personally, I have yet to see a 2nd gen Dodge Cummins come factory with anything other than Spicer joints. Series size will be dependent on what tonnage truck model and potentially year though.

Fuel Pressure Issue
Hmmm..... That looks like a tire valve stem remover. Hopefully the intention of this contraption was not to use the removers little hole as a "snubber" as its crammed in the fitting. That would be podunk for sure. Giving them the benefit of doubt, maybe you need to call Vulcan and ask them.

ATF in fuel
Probably only found at Fantasy-land Island on the south side of BS mountain where glitter ridge meets the outer edge of center earth on the eve of a crest blue moon when Uranus aligns with..........oh dam this is stupid.

Fuel Pressure Issue
I agree. But.....I highly suggest NOT using compression fittings for anyone using this is the plan of action. Compression fittings are just too easy to leak, and both tightening them too hard or too loose will cause that leak too. Instead use either JIC or flare fittings. I use -3 JIC.

ATF in fuel
I'm not understanding why there's people out there who act like their fuel tank is some kind of witches caldron..... "Dried lizard gizzard and some eye of the newt, with a dash of ghost poop ....."

Front drive shaft double cardan joint
This is what I said before.....and I'll continue to say it. Take it to a driveline shop and have it done right.

Squeaky Clutch Pedal
Sort of.....as WD-40 really kind of contradict what their product does in their myth section. Nonetheless, it seems that WD-40 has some sort of odd following where people swear by it as a use for everything product. I really dont care how secretive the recipe is either. I just want it to work. That said, WD-40 has plenty of uses, just not a long term lubricant. However you want to dice it, WD-40 doesn't "lubricate" anything any more than the solvent like properties loosens things up before it evaporates away. WD-40 clearly points this out in their myth section too while advising consumers to use WD-40 Bike for actual "lubricants". Blaster is a far better penetrating lubricant. But it sure STINKS.

Squeaky Clutch Pedal
WD-40 is a solvent and NOT a lubricant. It merely loosens things up and then evaporates. You can actually use the stuff to glue on handlebar grips..... Use a penetrating lubricant spray.

Well thats not good at all.....

NV4500 Fluid Change
Holds 4.25 quarts to be exact. What fluid you choose to be used is at your own..... Some claim and/or have had good luck with other brands and types but do your homework on whats been tried, or find a dealer who will sell you what OEM fluid you need at a reasonable price. My opinion is, if you change fluid every decade or so then who cares about saving a few bucks.

G56 rattles horribly after switching to a dual disk clutch and SMF
Plenty people complain about the G56 noise, especially after installing a SMF clutch. By adding a DD clutch, it sounds like you only aggravated the issue that much more. Check out threads regarding a Fluidampr. I've heard people say that helped.....but its a $400 gamble. The only other thing I've heard of is different fluid (which it sounds like you tried), and Gorilla Juice which is claimed to lessen the rollover noise. Either way, bummer you spent all that money only to have it drive you nuts.

Ever been to south Carolina?
Even though I'm native to the west coast, my family and I have toyed with moving to SC for years. I've only driven through SC one time but it was beautiful and people seemed very nice. If we get more serious about venturing out that way, we may take a couple week trip and do some exploring.

Two stroke oil
I keep a couple quart bottles in the bed of the truck in a small bucket and add about a quart of 2-stroke per fill up. And my fill ups are only about 20-25 gallons. I dont think there's a big science behind it as long as there's enough in there to do something. Truck hardly makes any smoke either and has passed the exhaust portion of the smog test visual every time.

Exhaust
If I remember right, the reason you wont see pyrometer thermocouples pre-turbo is because of potential failure of the thermocouple and being before the turbo. Nonetheless, pre-turbo the highest "sustained" SAFE temperature is 1250*. Common rule of thumb for most diesels. Yes there is an approximate 300* difference when the thermocouple is post-turbo but the level of accuracy in that reading will be determined by location of the thermocouple. So instead of 950* being the alternative temperature, its suggested not to run post-turbo EGT's higher than 900*.

How Noisy is Your Engine at Idle?
Curious, did this db app offer A weighting and C weighting settings? I ask because 80 db is really quiet for the Cummins. I remember testing my truck with a db reader and getting something like 90+ db at about 3-4 feet from the grill with the hood closed. And the difference between 80 and 90 db is HUGE.

I know a guy with one of those dozers. Kinda fun little tracks to drive, but ya have to really be careful if you're in the brush as a decent size limb can come around and wack you right in the kisser.

Nature is a state of perception..... People in the city kinda dont really get that either. Live where critters running wild are not common place and people think they're surreal and peaceful. But live where interacting with nature is part of your day to day life and you'll probably have a different perception of the human/animal relationship. I see dear as 150 lb rats who will eat anything I try to grow. They're becoming very brazen in the more recent years too as the dogs cant hardly run them off anymore. The Woodpeckers just act like jerks and have invaded us this year like never before. Foxes try and kill any small livestock I have. Raccoons, skunks, hawks, etc.....they're all against me. I'm seemingly in this constant battle with them whereby they're always wanting what I have and I'm always on the look out with some sort of weapon.

No, its just one of their many many many.....many acorn stashes. This year has been particularly bad too as they're everywhere, pecking at my house, barn, and anything they can cram an acorn in. Worst part is they're "protected"..... Yeah whatever. I've been wild west'ing on their red heads trying to keep them at bay with my BB gun though.

How Noisy is Your Engine at Idle?
Either somethings different about this engine compared to the old engine, or your old engine was unusually loud for reasons of why you replaced it, or you just dont remember how loud it was, or.....you're comparing it to an old Ford.

Another battery thread.....
Its not really a topic for debate as there's plenty of information out there stating the facts..... And I really dont care what CA's someone chooses if they feel one is better than the other because the science behind batteries is more complex than a simply forum thread conversation. But that said, there are only a couple battery manufacturing locations in the US who private label for many many stores and brands. One being Johnson Controls who I believe manufactures batteries for Interstate, Die Hard, Duralast, Kirkland, Everstart, Prostart, etc... Although all these batteries are NOT the same merely because they're built in the same factory as every one is manufactured with different proprietary designs for the brand/store which they're made for. So that means Walmart is NOT the same as Interstate, or any other label..... Thats not to say that a cheaper battery is going to be junk either.

Another battery thread.....
I didnt have to modify the box but I did have to modify the hold down bracket because the 65 is wider that the 27 and 34's which are intended to fit.
-
Another battery thread.....
27 and 34 will fit fine. 34's tend to have higher CA than 27. 65's are the best of those three as they have not only the best CA but also the best reserve capacity, and higher RC is what makes a battery good. The only problem is they tend to not fit so good in the OEM battery trays depending on which ones you have. As for where to get them, for anyone who doesnt know, Costco now sells Interstate and they're crazy inexpensive.
