VP44 factory lift pump?
Of the ones I have had to deal with most were blown pump seals. They were replaced under warrant but if they go too far the fuel will get I to the windings and cause the motor to lock-up. I've also seen issues with the adjustable pressure regulator on them. Some cases they spike to 30+lb others drop off to less than 10lb all of a sudden. These are just my experiences with them. There are several threads over on the CF forum about them also.

VP44 factory lift pump?
welcome to the site Pete. As for a lift pump don't buy any of the factory replacement lift pumps. They will fail the only question is when as for the fuel pressure they don't usually have the ability to supply the VP with enough fuel to keep the electronics cooled. As a recommendation I would buy a FASS or something of that type. here is a link that I would recommend FASS Stay away from any of the Airdog or Rapture pumps. They have not had a great amount of success over the last few years. Like stated above add 1 ounce of 2cycle oil for every gallon of fuel you put in your truck and that will help prolong the life of the VP also.

47re issues
It really sounds like a band issue. I would try backing it off a 1/4 turn and see if that helps

Tap it or leave it?
Standard stainless is all I used for my PDI manifold and they get torqued to 35flb so no real need for a 308 grade stainless.

At the end of my rope (more)
Well it kind of makes since with the issues you were having that this could be the fix. Does your steering wheel have radio controls? when mine went out due to the fact that it was a sport and had steering wheel controls it cost me $650 for them to replace and reprogram mine. Even for someone like myself that has access to a factory scanner (DBR3) I couldn't fix it with out taking it to the dealer.

New Generation...
Jag I'm sorry to say but the hospitality the baby boomers were raised on is fading away and fast. It's just the new generations not caring about me or you as they just want what they want and aren't concerned about what it takes you or myself to get them the best quality and services just as cheap as they can. Unfortunately it's not looking any better yet, the current generation isn't seeing any improvement. They're rude, snobbish, disrespectful, and just down right asinine. My generation know as the boomerang gen ended in 1985 so the ones born after that are what we as professionals are starting to deal with in our world. It's getting harder and harder to get the respect and appreciation for the services we can offer.

Turbo and injectors improve mileage!
If you want to do the exhaust upgrade I would just do the Diamond Eye exhaust kit that comes with the 4" muffler

Turbo and injectors improve mileage!
Yes his stock turbo was the HY35 we replaced it with an HX35 and put in RV275 injectors.

At the end of my rope (more)
Yeah the CTM or also know as the BCM body control module are crazy. When mine went out the seat belts would lock you in the seat as if in an accident. The radio wouldn't work at times. It caused a lot of odd problems.

I think the bug is nibbling on him.....

Fuel gauge issues
Don't try and drive with it out it because it controls several things in the truck. Do you have steering wheel radio controls? The BCM controls things like the radio controls, seat belts, mirrors and cruise control. I would unplug it and leave it out for approximately 20min cycle the key switch a few times then put it back together. Not real sure it will fix your issue but it may.

Fuel pressure on 3rd gen?
The 2002 was all VP44 and in 03 there were all CR trucks. If you have a VP it's a 2nd Gen.

Fuel gauge issues
You might want to check the body control module. It's located under the kick panel at your knees when sitting in the truck. Where your right knee would be. I would remove it and leave it unplugged for a while. This might reset the cluster receiver from the tank.

edge comp question
Oh yeah I hear and feel it especially with having stacked tuners. I've been able to tune it out by making several adjustments with the Smarty and comp.

brake problems?
If it's the front then I would be checking the calipers If one is sticking then it will grab and pull one direction or the other. I had the passenger side stick and lock it destroied the caliper, pads and the rotor.

47RE Trans Fill, When to stop Filling? Till warmed up?
Check the stick before you drain it and refill to the same mark as ccold.this is what I do on a pan drain and filter change it usually works out with out having to add any more.

Hx back to Hy?
Rseabur are you still running the HX or did you go back to the HY? With the new sticks it might be the difference you were looking for
