  1. Are you going to wait for the 2013 to come out?
  2. I use a floor jack from Northern Tool and some blocks of wood.
  3. I deleted the egr and dpf on mine and it gets better mileage than my 05 does. They both of smrty jr's but the 6.7 is faster and the exhaust brake is AWESOME! Get it. BTW, the wife's truck is a gasser. You're better than that.
  4. Make sure you take the rod out of your old unit and use it in whatever new unit you get. They are not all the same size.
  5. If you're towing you really want the 4" exhaust. Your egt will run much cooler and your mpg's will improve. Did I mention you'd also run faster, jump higher, and women would find you more attractive?
  6. Maybe it is if you don't tow anything or work the truck hard. If you tow something the drone will be pretty loud. I had that same system on one of my trucks and it was loud. I added the FTE resonator and it fixed the drone. - - - Updated - - - 1. No 2. Not sure, call Wally at FTE and ask him. They make the resonators themselves. They are clamp on or you can weld them. You really want the 4" exhaust anyway. Wally will have a low priced option for you with a 4" system and the resonator.
  7. The rear unit. Call FTE Diesel and get a 30" resonator. A muffler delete is a rough way to go. The drone will be awful. The forward unit is the catalytic converter.
  8. The DOT in Florida does that every once in a while. They'll set up somewhere and pull everyone over that passes and check all their equipment.
  9. On i5 they are pretty strict about the 55mph speed limit. On i10 they are a little more relaxed. You should price out one of these tickets before you decide to go north of 60 mph.
  10. I spend most of the time with the trucks and trailers. I'd prefer if they were my boats too! - - - Updated - - - I spend most of the time with the trucks and trailers. I'd prefer if they were my boats too! - - - Updated - - - When I'm pulling a really heavy wide load up some steep hill I'm thinking this is awesome. When I'm stuck in traffic i'm thinking something else...
  11. No. I have two 2001's. One of the is used all the time.
  12. This is a facebook page I started. It shows what we towed in the last two weeks. www.facebook.com/flynnmarinetransport
  13. Call Wally at FTE and order the resonator and an exhaust kit. He sells them pretty cheaply and he is a great guy.
  14. 265/70/17 on all of mine. I have a 2001, 2005, and 2007.5. Michelin LTX AS are my favorite. I have MS2's on my dually but they seem to be wearing rather fast.
  15. When I had the wts issues I didn't get always get codes. This was true for my 05 and my 06. I was not comparing a fp gauge to anything. I don't think a fp gauge is necessary for what I do. I have had injectors stick open and I have had injection lines burst. A rp gauge might have alerted a higher than normal spike in pressure before the line broke. If it had I would have saved myself 1/2 day stuck on the side of the road in Des Moines. This broken injection lines also set off the wts light. The FP guage does not tell you why pressures are high or low. My fp guage cant tell the difference between a bad electrical connection and a dirty filter so I am unsure of your line of thinking there. Neither gauge gives any answers. My original suggestion was a rp gauge would be more useful than a fp guage in a CR. I continue to think that way because the rp guage can alert you too spikes in pressure before you crack an injector and a fp guage can't. I have half 600k miles driven between my two common rails. I have blown injectors, had multiple injectors stick open and blown injection lines. I have never had a low pressure issue that was anything other than a filter.
  16. When you load any smarty it will update the stock program. The updated program will now set off the wait to start light when it senses something wrong in the fuel system. There is not always a corresponding code for this. The light can be set off by a bad or many bad injectors, bad fuel lines, bad fca, etc. For this I believe the rail pressure gauge would be more useful as a diagnostic tool than a fuel pressure gauge.
  17. Rail pressure would probably be more useful than fuel pressure.
  18. It's going to be 85 degrees down here tomorrow. Welcome from Florida!
  19. The edge comp is great for 2nd gens but the smarty is the best for common rails. You can use a smarty or smarty jr and the edge cts, cs together.
  20. I use the smarty jr. It doesn't have the gauges but it is a great programmer for the cr.
  21. If anyone needs help getting miles on their trucks I can help. Just let me know where to pick the truck up.
  22. My #3 cylinder just ate a piston. Both rods got bent in the process. I had to get a new long block. I think mine was caused by a broken wrist pin. I'd have someone take that piston out and look at it carefully. It is really expensive when you loose the motor.
  23. I prefer the tow haul switch on my 05. Without tow haul you would loose a lot of line pressure when towing. Secondly if you want it out of OD press the tow haul button twice. - - - Updated - - - I prefer the tow haul switch on my 05. Without tow haul you would loose a lot of line pressure when towing. 24. Dello got me pretty far! Walmart fills everything else.
  25. Anyone ever try pulling a trailer through NY with a GPS? Can't be done. If you don't hit a bridge you'll definitely get some tickets.
