  1. High FP while cranking can cause the VP to have a hard time starting... I'm sure Moparman could explain why (Hint hint)!
  2. When my MAP sensor came unhooked it didn't feel like it fueled at all. I could be wrong, but I don't think it will fuel at all with a bad connection.
  3. Most likely you have a boost leak. The only other explanation would be lack of fuel to spool the turbo. What are your egts
  4. Sounds like to me you aren't getting enough fuel either. If you only had a boost leak you would have higher egts
  5. Mash that puppy to the floor! (If your tranny will hold haha) You should be seeing above 30 psi, especially because of the low elevation. With just a comp at 5,300ft elevation I was at 33# of boost. My egts were also way hotter though.
  6. I test by holding it to the floor haha! What are your egts? What elevation are you at? What does the pressure drop off too, and what RPMs are you at?
  7. You checked around all of the boots intake horn, grid heater and turbo? When you say drop instantly do you mean with your foot still on the throttle or when you pull your foot off?
  8. I wish my egts were that low! The injectors keep the motor good and toasty
  9. I use a spray bottle and soapy water. I never would have found a few leaks without it!
  10. I just finished the 351 swap and it is a pretty awesome turbo! It is a pita to make your own charge pipe but the one from DAP solves that issue. It spools just like the HX but has a lot more air to give on the top end. It never runs out of air like the HX does.
  11. This one just has a giant snap-ring that holds the two sections together. There isn't and never was any sort of seal inbetween
  12. I'm still working on compiling the writeup. I have all of the pictures ready to go just need a break from work! I did a boost leak check and have found a small leak between the compressor housing and the cartrige where the metal surfaces mate together. It only leakes where the gap of the snapring is. Does anyone know a remedy for this? I pulled the housing and cleaned both sides super well with a scotchbrite pad and put it back together with no better results. Thanks!
  13. I would go buy a BD stealth plate. Secure water tight connection!
  14. My current system is a 4" turbo back with a muffler. If you really want to save the camper this system came with a tailpipe that came straight out to the side of the truck and didn't coat the camper. The smoke was shot out at a 90 to the truck. (Don't rag on me too much for the smoke I was trying to keep up with a friend!)
  15. Definitely tons of extra air! The boost just climbs as the rpms climb, unlike the HX. With the hx it would hit 38lbs then back down to 30 as the rpms climbed. As for clean up it is a very very light haze on the top end and to me that is clean! (That is just with the comp) With the comp and the smarty it's still a coal train. When I stacked them I got up too 45lbs of boost then backed off (Don't want to blow the head off) and it was still pouring black smoke. Spooling is very good. The turbo comes on right around 1500rmp and lights like crazy from there. Egts are easily manageable for DD. I can get up to 75-80 and be around 1350-1400deg on the piro. For towing I pulled my wire tap while leaving the edge on 5 x 5 and hauled a 6500lb flatbed with 3000 pounds of hay on it up some steep hills here in colorado. Holding 65 I was at 35lbs of boost and 1200deg egts. It pulled flawlessly with tons of power, but not so much things will start to break. So far I'm loving it! If anyone has any questions don't be afraid to ask! Love to share personal experience.
  16. I should be tearing everything back apart tomorrow so that I can paint it. I'll do my best to document everything!
  17. HE351CW install is now complete! In all honesty most of the swap was very smooth and straight forward. The hardesd thing to make was the charge pipe because I clocked the turbo. I am also running the factory wastegate with a boost elbow installed. With edge comp on 5x5 I saw a max of 44 pounds of boost! If anyone has any questions or would like to see a write up let me know and I'll see what I can do!
  18. Could another factor be warmer fuel flowing easier and a bit more is getting into the cylinder? Just thinking out loud!
  19. There is one up here in denver, but I will be moving for the summer tomorrow and they don't have them in stock
  20. The flange that the bolts go through on the HE351 is thicker than the HX flange Are you sure M10 x 1.5? I keep reading 1.25
  21. What do you want to make HP wise? Do you just dd it or does it pull a bunch? 100's are awesome for power, and do very well on fuel IF you can keep your foot out of it. For a stock turbo though, they deliver WAY too much fuel. John why the super B? It says it'll only support to 425hp. Why not bump up to a 62mm?
  22. Interesting, but I don't like the idea of pre-turbo injection. Wouldn't it be better to inject it into the horn, after the intercooler? This way in the event of a crash you wouldn't have to run the risk of an explosion from the intercooler full of propane?
  23. I found this place...http://www.3sx.com/store/comersus_viewItemBundle.asp?idProduct=30094 Says m10x1.25 and fits in the stock holes. I think cummins will be my safest bet though!
  24. Thanks for the heads up on the hardness.... I guess I just assumed! I think I'll just end up having to go to cummins... No luck with ace or home depot
