Snowy owl today
This fellow has hung around along the road I drive to work for several years now and I just happened to have a camera handy today I stopped on the road and he posed for a snap shot but just one and his head is cranked around 180* as he is looking at me over his tail. He took off as I snapped the second pic. Hard to see but he has about a 4 foot wing span.

Ram 1500 diesel
I need clarification on this one having been an owner of many of them and no issues. I am confused because I owned two half tons 82 GMC Jimmy 85 GMC 1500 both 4X4 autos and both swapped to th400 trannies with lockup converters and an 83 2500 GMC 4x4 4spd all with 6.2 diesels and my parents owned 3 others with 6.2 diesels my dad actually put 600K on an 85 GMC suburban all on the same engine just pump work a couple times and several trannies and t-cases is all, also several friends and relatives had 6.5s in half tons and they did absolutely nothing to the chassis or drivetrains and we used them hard on the farm and ranch. They did great fuel mileage compared to the gassers of that generation, I always saw 18-20 consistently with all of them. We added one helper leaf to the front leaf spring packs on all of the half tons and that was the only chassis issue we dealt with was sagging front leafs after about 80-100K miles nothing that any other manufacturer had to deal with even in 2500 and 3500 chassis, Ford was horrible for sagging fronts when they had the IFS axle. My dads 89 3500 cummins had to be worked over with heavier front springs as well.

The 200 vs 190 thermostat expierment thread.
This is why the hype isn't worth the time as most drive these rigs as cars and never see loads capable of warming them up to even 190 most days on short trips in winter. on my 05 I can drive close to 20 miles at interstate speeds before the t-stat even opens for the first time at 190ish this with the grill inserts and no load in the summer it still takes close to 10 miles to open it up, throw a load on and it is a ton better, this is why most car driven cummins engines will never see the life of a worked diesel engine within reason.

Ram 1500 diesel
You mean the millions of GM 5.7 / 6.2 and 6.5 diesels in half tons were too much...............

Any hot rodders out there?

weird leak
What color is the fluid? Did it look like engine oil black or more on the clear side, check your brake reservoir oil level as well.

Are you aware of the silent killer?
Has nothing to do with Gluten intolerance per say, we all have that weather we have symptoms or not as the health issues will show up in time as it is cumulative, humans are and were never meant to eat grains "seeds" from grasses like wheat, corn, barley, rice, oats and others period. Pretty much every disease and health issue in modern society can be related directly to the consumption of grain products. Read the books by Dr. William Davis, "Wheat belly" and then "Wheat belly total health" and you will have a total new outlook on what you put in your body and why, here is a link to his site, http://www.wheatbellyblog.com/2011/07/who-is-dr-william-davis/. I lost 80 lbs in 7 month starting January 10 going grain free and exercising alone, my Blood glucose and cholesterol are now perfect as is my Body mass index and I have never had this kind of energy in my life all joint pains and aches have disappeared as well, now that I have detoxed from the crap and grains I eat about 1/3 of what I used to and have 100x more energy all day without the ups and downs every few hours. Do not fall for any product labeled "Gluten free", most are worse than eating the wheat product as they remove wheat and then add more sugar fat and starches from other gluten containing grains like corn, rice and barley flour to make up for the loss of the wheat gluten which gives things taste and texture. I started with going wheat free and was losing lots of weight and then went gluten free and my weight loss stalled out almost immediately and that is when I did major research and found Dr. William Davis as almost every study and research always came back to his research at which time I decided to go grain free even before reading his books but after experiencing major health benefits and then reading the book on the back side made lots of things make sense. If it is quality and effectiveness then YL is the way to go as no other company has the resources to guarantee the quality and purity of the plants and products used to produce the EO and related products like YL.

How much play?
Usually just put a light coating of gear lube or engine assembly grease on the bearings and races to get it by until the diff oil transfers out to the axle ends but never "Packed" them.

Are you aware of the silent killer?
Doterra was started by several former employees of Young living and are trying to copy Young living and are in a lawsuit brought on by Young living right now. Young living is the real deal, Doterra is a copy cat with no way possible to get the same quality and purity of product YL has.. Here you go all you need for oral care products. http://www.youngliving.com/en_US/products/beauty/oral-care As far as your wife and her overall health and her heritage she needs to seriously consider a grain free lifestyle for sure to avoid future health issues and to help with if any current ones.

Had a great get together in Florida
Here are some of the pics of the get together. Here is the only pic of a cummins my wife got and it is a shot of Bruces 2009. Here is a beach shot, Yabba doo in the rear, John and his wife and myself to the right, the camera made us all look like 3 foot tall oompa loompas in this pic for some reason.. Here is a group shot, from left, Yabbadoo, my wife, myself, John, Ryan, Bruce and Johns wife Glenna running the camera. Here is a shot of John with his parrot and Ryan, 98whitelightnin to the right.

Gotta A Noise Happening
I am assuming it is engine related versus drivetrain then since you want to remove the belt and check the rotating pieces, sounds like you got a good handle on where and how to start for now. I have found it is usually one of 2 things, first is tensioner pulley can be either the pulley bearing and or the pivot I have found on my rigs numerous times goes bad and makes a lot of noise, second is water pump then I got to other things like alt ac comp fan hub ect.

Are you aware of the silent killer?
My wife has had bad luck with her teeth as well, numerous cavities and broken teeth and has spent a small fortune replacing old metal fillings with porcelain caps and crowns. I have been seeing the same dentist for 30 years and he has no idea what the first dentist used for filling material in my 2 fillings, he said it is harder than anything he has ever seen and even after 35 years they look like new yet which he says is unheard of, needless to say my dentist makes little money off me but makes up for it with my wife, she too grew up in a household of little to no money so preventative maintenance of teeth was a last resort, just dealt with it after the issue was developed. I had all 4 wisdom teeth removed at one time by an oral surgeon when in college, and glad of it, have seen way too many people suffer through the process one at a time with wisdom teeth and infections ect.

Had a great get together in Florida
Trip went well too. Got there and drove west to Lido Key by Sarasota and spent 2 nights there and just spent time on the beach. From there headed down to Sanibell Island by Ft Meyers / Cape Corral spent 2 days there on the beach and bicycling the island and up to Captiva island on the bikes. Next stop was to take the Key West express down to key West for 2days, just wandered around checking out our favorite spots and some new ones and took another sunset snorkeling cruise to the reef. From there back up to Cape corral for 4 nights and a day trip up to meet the gang at St Petersburg and back down south again that night. Just took one day to R&R by the pool and another day driving around the cape Corral area up to Pine island and over to Alva and Labelle and back just to check the area out a bit more. We would like to buy a property of some sort down in Cape Corral or surrounding area in the future as we found that area is the nicest FL has to offer what we are looking for. Weather was good until the last 2 days when the wind blew and highs in the 50's but it worked out perfect as we were just driving around the last 2 days and had no beach time planned anyhow.

Thanks been searching and trying things and found these good videos although the simple opening of them with a knife only works if they have a bit of a spilt in a seem of the shell already but I did get a couple to pop that way.

How much play?
No repacking to do on rear axle wheel bearings as they are lubed by diff oil, I really hope you didn't pack grease in them or you will definitely have an issue shortly.

Are you aware of the silent killer?
My grandma died at 96 never a single cavity in her life and still had all her teeth and never drank. I rarely brush and stay as far away from the industrial waste called fluoride as possible. I do live with floss picks and or tooth picks in my mouth or pocket at all times and have 2 fillings I got right after I got my adult teeth and have not had a single tooth issue in 35+ years but do get a cleaning and checkup every 6 months and always have as was mentioned before your mouth is one of the most important parts of heath care. I think I inherited my grandmas good mouth bacteria lol. Wife and I are Young living essential oils users and distributers and use thieves toothpaste and thieves mouth wash which is also as good as if not better than colloidal silver in the grand scheme of things, little known but thieves essential oils have been known to control the ebola virus as well. At any sign of a sore throat or any other bug I load up on thieves mouthwash and other thieves products and have not had a common cold in several years and have not had the flu in many more years and do not get vaccines.

Had a great get together in Florida
Well I lined up a get together with the Florida gang here while my wife and I were on Vacation the last week and a half in Florida. John and his wonderful wife Glenna Fak hosted the get together and had some great food for us all to fill up on. Thank you both and to everyone else who supplied food like the deer sausage Yabbadoo brought. Met with Yabbadoo, 98whitelightnin, Johnfak and his wife and one of there friends Bruce "not sure if he is a member here or not'. Looked over every ones rides and took a walk on the beach which is only about a block from Johns home. Awesome day and weather and people. BTW Yabbadoo, what kind of nuts were those again that came from Virginia? I need to figure out how to crack them lol, I have a nut cracker and It takes several tries to get them to crack and then they just explode. Maybe need to roast them first or something. Anyone want to see a group pic? John and Ryan need to ok it though s they are a bit "tied up" lol. If they don't mind I will post up a group pic of the get together. We all forgot to take pics of all the Cummins lined up though.

Coil Springs
So what was the reason for you wanting to put different springs in it in the first place? And why did you decide on putting springs in it from a gasser version versus heavier cummins or snow plow package springs spec springs?
