  1. So don't leave us hanging..............lets hear some details on the new ride, year, miles, options, tranny, gear ratio, engine ect.........
  2. Enjoy Barrack Obamas Legacy America
  3. I have been lucky as well and have never had a cracked dash but my rigs sit inside most of the time except when I leave for the day and I think that makes a huge difference along with keeping it wiped clean on occasion. I see very few cracked dashes overall in my area.
  4. Depending on how far off they were it can definitely quiet it down and smooth it out at idle.
  5. A vast majority of the new top load high efficiency washers have no agitator anymore.
  6. I can definitely see the advantage of the fins in a front loader, Mine is a top loader with no fins in the drum.
  7. What are the exhaust manifold temps at each cylinder when shot with an IR gun? Remember the inline 6 cylinder firing order is 153624. On many occasions if you think #6 is knocking is because it is working harder to compensate for # 5 or 3 being week or dead. Once again throwing money and parts at things due to not knowing / following the basics.
  8. A bit off subject here but for anyone looking to buy a new washing machine and if you have "dirty" laundry make sure and get a machine with an agitator in it if you want your cloths to come out clean. Wife and bought a new set of LG, shopped and shopped and kept coming back to LG as the best of the best according to numerous sources, one salesman at Sears told us to make sure and get a machine with an agitator if you have fairly dirty cloths. Wife won the battle and we got one without and of course my cloths have to be pretreated and they still come out dirty a lot of the time even washing them on heavy duty heavy soil settings. Get one with an agitator!
  9. I am spoiled with my own hoist and tall tranny jack. Simple one man operation for me. One of the best $2800 investments I have ever made for the 2 together, $1800 for a used 7K lb Rotary asymmetrical hoist and $500 for the jack plus tax and install.
  10. Mike touched on a big part of it and the feds and states are already feeling the pinch and looking at new ways of gouging the masses. If and as efficiency goes up or rather as the price of fuel goes up less people are driving gas hogs and or are using public transportation where possible or buying more efficient vehicles whatever the case they are selling less fuel and thus causing a downward trend in federal and state tax revenue collections at the pump which is what was supposed to pay for our infrastructure in the first place but these funds much like other funds have been bled off for other things. The technology and emissions have improved vehicles a lot even though most hate to admit it. Most vehicles today are running 200-300K+ miles easily, that was rare in a vehicle pre 1990's. also look at the power to weight ratios, smaller engines or even the same size making huge power compared to the big blocks of yester year and living 3-4 times longer, the list goes on and on so technology and emissions driven technology has brought about improvements like it or not.
  11. For some reason this song popped into my head when I saw and read this thread. "But outside of that She's a cherry" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8PkyqsavkBw
  12. I'll be lucky to get a fraction of what I need done before the snow balls hit me in the keester as usual.
  13. So let me get this straight, you just rebuilt and engine and didn't have any of the fuel system sent in and checked out? Rebuild 101 never ever do an engine rebuild without fuel system check at minimum.
  14. The little Honda 4 wheel found a new home a few days ago, I never used it much and needed the garage space so I parted with it. I have the Kubota tractor for use as a trailer tugger around the yard so no use in keeping and maintaining a hunk that never gets used. Also forgot the camera at home but did haul a steer to the sales ring earlier this week too. Have a nice weekend weather wise so for me is is going to be all about winterizing and wood splitting and cleaning up the yard and giving things and end of the season bath around the house and yard as well as digging produce from the garden, lots to do.
  15. I am partial to the Steiger green on the valve cover. I grew up behind the wheel of a 1976 Steiger Panther II with a 310 hp 855 straight piped Cummins in it. Identical to the one posted below. Man the hours I spent in the seat of that rig as a kid. No wonder I am half deaf. They where and still are made in Fargo ND. CaseIH bought out the Steiger family but they kept the rights to the name for 20 years and now CaseIH has the rights to the name and they did use it on the new CaseIH 4WD tractors but they are still built in Fargo ND same as the Quad tracks.
  16. I have a friend who rides his street bike year round no matter the ambient temps as long as there is no snow on the streets around town he is riding it. The local news did a story on him a few years back too. His theory is if why not no different than snowmobiling in the cold. Has heated handle bars as well.
  17. I like the felt anti corrosion washers myself, have been using them for 20+ years and have had no corrosion issues on any of my equipment no matter what it is. No mess from oils grease or those ugly spray on protectants. http://www.autozone.com/autozone/accessories/Duralast-Anti-corrosion-washers/_/N-25jo?itemIdentifier=8170_0_0_
  18. Even when I was fat and lazy I would have been cheap enough to walk or bike that far to work.
  19. See my previous post, lots more effective and smells a whole lot better than Moth balls.
  20. I use steel wool and expanding foam to plug any holes depending on the size of the opening and what it is for and I found over the years dryer sheets are good for a month or two but loose their scent over time and then the mice use them for nesting material. We have a product made in state here called "Fresh cab" and it is made of basic spices and plant based scents that works awesome, I have used it for years and pretty much all farmers and ranchers use this product and it works super, I use it in everything that gets parked for extended periods of time and have never had a mouse issue since using it. Smells like potpourri. http://www.earthkind.com/products/fresh-cab-category http://www.amazon.com/s/?ie=UTF8&keywords=fresh+cab&tag=mh0b-20&index=aps&hvadid=4967270148&ref=pd_sl_71cbrrjlgf_e
  21. When I bought my OEM 988AA snow plow springs they were really cheap I thought. around a hundred bucks each. Just looked them up and they are still fairly reasonable at $116 each. http://www.moparpartsdiscounted.com/oemparts/dodge-120/52113988AA.html
  22. When I put the factory snow plow package springs in my 02 I found there where a dozen or so different spring part numbers alone just for the 2500 4X4, drive and pass sides different number ect. The Dodge OEM plow spring part # is 52113988AA. I had real good luck with them and did not get the overly stiff ride some think they give as I had a long box ex cab with a ranch hand. They were in combo with rancho rs5000 shocks.
  23. Every piston is near TDC when all of the valves are closed for that cylinder and the valve bridges are loose on top of the valves under the rocker arms.
  24. Steep grades for short distances or 4-5 miles long medium grades with a 30+mph head wind and 25K+ gross loads hmmmm? We have lots of rough country in my part of the state with lots of hills and long grades. I just run grill inserts myself, helped more on the old 02 than the 05 which is super cold blooded if no load behind her. Off topic but I remember reading a thread a few weeks back where you posted the elevation of your house and it was real close to the same elevation as my area at roughly 2200+- a couple hundred feet above sea level around the west half of the state.
