  1. Local coops have a deferred billing summer fill program, they fill tanks early and then wait until end of July beginning of August and then bill at whatever the lowest price of the summer was and if you pay within a week of getting the bill you get another 5% discount off top of that.
  2. You mean besides the folks down in Fergusson MO????????????????????
  3. Not to mention cost and maintenance of log splitter, chain saw, gas, oil, LOTS AND LOTS of time, the fuel and time to haul it from source and depending on the source then you may or may not have clean up and haul away duty there too. I wish I didn't have one nor my mother in law would be much cheaper and easier with pellets and lots less ash to dispose of too less smoke less stink ect ect ect. Makes my new 98% efficient 120v propane furnace look better every day.
  4. I paid 1.40 ish for summer fill propane IIRC this summer. Another thing to figure in is whether your furnace is 120v or 240 v and how efficient it is as part of the equation, what type of fan and t-stat controller and programmable ect.and how it runs as well. The new pellet stoves are nice especially if they are set up for multi fuel pellets, very little ash and with the high efficiency stoves can be piped out the wall with just a vent, no more chimney.
  5. Just to clear the facts the Timbo apps is not made by him, it is merely an apps that is used on medium duty truck applications with the same engine. It is an OEM apps from either freightliner or KW most likely he just put together the kit with instructions on how to adjust it and maybe changes the pinouts and deutch connector for our application. It is a heavier duty adjustable apps is all. One could source the same apps cheaper most likely if one new the part # and which mfg uses it.
  6. Yep same with general public as it is even here, old school forms of thinking are near impossible to change unless one sees the cause and effect directly and if its ones own pocket book that was affected by old school thinking that caused the issues. I see it at work all the time even had to chew some butt on a couple techs on my crew I caught about to prefill fuel filters a few weeks ago because they were trying to take a short cut and not use the proper tooling laying less than 30 feet from them to prime the system properly. Injectors on our mine equip are about the same price as any other but the fact most engines take 12-16 of them along with the extreme cost of downtime by lost production really adds up fast plus cost of parts and labor if a vendor repairs it.
  7. Dipstick??????????? I was talking about the tranny and other drivetrain components not the engine.
  8. Prolly got a main or counter shaft bearing going south, not as noticeable at higher speeds yet but starting to make noticeable noise as it slows. Drop the oil and see what it looks like and if there looks to be a metallic look to it or if the oil looks and smells burnt. Might be time for a tear down and rebearing before it does fail and takes out a shaft and gears with it if it is a bearing dying. Would be a good time to check all u-joints and rear driveline carrier bearing and rear end and t-case oil as well for the same issues, sound can does and will transfer.
  9. lol..............I am not talking those baby OTR truck engines I am talking CAT C16 & C32 V12 and 3500 series heavy mine equipment engines. They too have to meet tier 4 emissions criteria as of 2 years ago for off road equipment tier 2 can still be sold if it is going into non OEM equipment and being sold to 3rd parts equipment mfgr. Equipment sales were booming a couple years ago with low interest rates and the ability for companies to get pre tier 4 engines in equipment.
  10. I will debate you till the ends of the earth on the copper levels, I have been monitoring them on fleets of mining equipment for near 15 years now, there is a large normal range and I have seen many engines have high side of the normal range copper levels from new until 24K hours and stay that way until it was pulled for overhaul. Unless it shows sodium or potassium for coolant there is no issue till that point, most coolers fail long before copper will indicate a cooler failure. Our Cat C32 engines have failed EGR coolers several times and until coolant showed on the UOA there was no prior indication of elevated copper readings until right at failure point. In the end I will have spent a lot less money running synthetic than you running Dino if it is done right and folks get the old school mentality of constant oil changes at set point out of their heads.
  11. Folks keep forgetting that TBN is only half the story, it is not what protects the internal components, its the quality additive package of the oil and the quality of base oil to start with, if the additives are depleted which no UOA company tests for or most can't this is the most important part of the oil. Unlike most other companies I can say that Amsoil does not nor ever has marketed themselves as a "Cure all", they do some of the most unbiased test of any company I see, they regularly post oil test reports and place themselves in the appropriate placing according to the spec tests they are doing and they may be in the top 3 in a lot they are not afraid to post where they are week in those tests as well. As far as higher than usual copper reading this is common anytime an oil is switched be it standard or dino and this is also common oil cooler erosion and nothing to worry about.
  12. Like Ed said for the most part I agree but I have a bunch of Ron Paul signs I just couldn't deface like that.
  13. I would never pay that much for a vehicle personally either, I have never paid more than 27K for any vehicle I have ever owned and plan to never pay more if I can help it. I have paid in full for the last couple vehicle I have purchased and laugh at the sales dept. finance guys who try to talk me into financing "why not interest rates are so low the money is almost free they say" Well if it costs me a dollar of interest it isn't free, they all get kick backs from the lending institutions for every one they finance, sales and service isn't the only way dealerships make money. My grandpa built up a 7K acre farm starting from 80 acres he bought in the early 1900's on one disciplined moral he stood by for his 97 year life, He didn't believe in financing anything, "If you can't afford it you don't need it" he would always say to me. He talked a lot of eating bugs and crickets and being happy he had that much to live off during the tough years of drought and depression of the early 20th century. Entitlement welfare programs didn't exist just natural survival which is how it needs to be again, let natural selection fix our issues not my hard earned dollar the government forces me to share.
  14. If its the grill you are blocking you can block it 100% and have nothing to worry about as it doesn't hardly make any difference blocking things there. If blocking the coolers and radiator then leave about a 6-8 inch opening in the center but this is totally dependent on how cold of temps you see and driving conditions, if you are pulling towing or town driving a lot..
  15. I know of 2 people who bought 2013 early 2014 Crew cabs with the eco diesel for under 40K. Just because they do all the testing with the rigs loaded with everything and post the full retail list price doesn't mean they sell for that price. John as far as the 700R4 they were just junk in the early years up till about 86 then they finally worked out the bugs and then aftermarket came up with numerous improvements for them, they didn't even hold up behind the 305 engines, and as far as t-case yes they were chain drive and they were and still are prone to just wearing out and breaking even new ones do, we go through tons of them at the mine I work at all chain related. As far as running 91 premium I started running this about 2 summers ago as I used to run 89 ethanol in everything but up until 2-3 years ago something changed and I started having issues with every single small engine I owned all at the same time. Actually cost me a carburetor on a brand new generator. Had several conversations with small engine mechanics and different shops and thy all had the same story, ethanol of any kind only has a 30 day shelf life before deteriorating and causing issues, 87 octane ethanol free gas has a 60-90 day shelf life and most all 90+ ethanol free has a minimum rating of a 1 year shelf life and is the only gas recommended on small engines especially if they sit unused more than a few weeks at a time. No small engine mfg warranties any fuel system components due to the prevelance of ethanol anymore. Plus I run a boat and ethanol in marine applications is just plain dangerous and one takes a big chance in running it there. As far as my Ram it does start and run a ton better and it is really noticeable while towing heavy versus ethanol or regular 87 even my wife notices how big of a difference it makes in power. as far as mileage maybe 1 mpg gain but the overall difference is worth it for me. Plus the biggest reason is political, I refuse to further support this monster of subsidized programs and the main cause for our crap for foods now days, take millions of acres of land out of food production and turn it into fuel and the downhill slide of all the GMO crops stemming from this to contaminating our food and water supplies and our overall health as a result in the name of "Cheap affordable food that will feed the world" What a load of crap that is when the medical costs far out weigh the "Cheap affordable food" in the long run, remember the health issues we see from eating grain are cumulative and not instant although look at all the obese kids with diabetes before they reach 5 years old anymore purely related to our food supply not lack of activity like they try to push.. Eat healthy whole grains they say, well the truth is there is no such thing as healthy whole grains "The human body was never designed to eat grains of any sort neither are cattle" as I say in other threads.................................follow the money. Just for reference I was born and raised on a seven thousand acre grain and cattle operation and have a college education in agribusiness & farm management as well as a diesel degree, although I no longer farm "family issues beyond my control long story, I just left to persue other career choices" I still dabble in cattle on my in-laws farm with my wife.
  16. Here is the actual video without the dumb music and a better description of what was going on. This video illustrates what happends when these two stroke semidiesels run out due to too much oil in the crankcase. With my left hand, I block the injection pump, so from that time the engine run on lube oil only, no diesel at all. I have heard lots of stories about this from decades ago but this is the first time, to my knowledge, that it is captured on video. Luckily we had blocked most of the air intake prior to starting and ended at somewhat over 1000 rpm. Max operating rpm is 425-450. With full air supply, I would guess this engine would reach thousands of rpm and I could only guess what would have happened then... The electric glowplug short circuited so we had to rely on the propane burner which had slightly low temperature. In this startattempt, we used an acetylene burner and got the glowplug bright red. The crankcase was, unfortunately, filled with too much oil so the engine was running on its lube oil from the crankcase instead of diesel. Still some trouble with the fuel injection, doesn't feel right when injecting diesel manually And the successful attempt at getting it running, sounds pretty good too.
  17. Guy has a big set of brass cahonys to stand next to that thing choking the air from it with a pressure tank "Missile" and hose and regulator valve just inches from the flywheel.
  18. It is quite simple......................................Follow the money. ...........................There are no profits in a healthy society. Good for you Hex. I married into a long time holistic family and I myself grew up on a seven thousand acre farm and ranch and we raised and grew and processed most all of our own food so I always had reservations about all the commercial processed foods and as I have gone through my last 11 months of self healing transformation and have lost 80 lbs have gained a renewed love for pure natural single ingredient foods again. I am now in perfect condition, just got my blood lab results back and finally reached a near perfect point, my natropathic DR. says at 43 I have the best Body mass index he has ever seen in his practice for my age and up. All else was in excellent condition as well, couldn't have done it without supplements as well. I use primarily Young living products as well as metagenics which is another quality co. like you work for. You bought the book by Dr William Davis yet called The Wheat belly book? Its an excellent read and explains a lot about how grain in our modern diet is the primary cause of almost all known diseases and health issues and again................follow the money. Here are a couple of pretty good documentaries as well. http://ecosenseforliving.com/info/episode7.html http://ecosenseforliving.com/info/episode8.html
  19. And that is from people with a masters or Dr. degree these days..................................
  20. Awesome now Mike needs to add a new forum here.................
  21. Our locally owned parts house " Hedals / Benco" is excellent to deal with and they have grown into several states from good customer service. The greet you by name and have held onto most of their employees for decades. The chain store parts houses are the worst and I have had lots of similar experiences like that, different week different personal at most of them and seems most don't know the difference between a bumper and a wiper blade some days.
  22. Tis why I figured it at 20 overall. If one ever watches commercials where they make mileage claims no matter the brand the small print always claims 2wd regular cab short box stripped down versions.
  23. I never buy new anyhow, I try to only buy used rigs with at least a years worth of factory B2B warranty left and usually try to find them with under 25K miles, it would be another year or two before trading in the hemi and by that time there should be a better selection of used ones out there to choose from. I had a 2003 Liberty Renegade edition with the 3.7 V6 and 16 was about the overall average with it, 17.5 was best I ever saw, usually hung in the 14-15 range which is why I only owned it for about 6 months "Shortest I have ever owned a vehicle next to the 99 2500 V10 Dodge only owned that for abut a year and ditched it for my 02 cummins, just couldn't justify a small rig getting equal or worse mpg than my full sized pickup" before trading it on my wifes 03 VW jetta TDI.
  24. If my math is correct, as of todays prices for what I saw at the pump to replace my 1500 Hemi which pretty much averages 15+- mpg overall with a Ram eco diesel it would actually pay off especially since I am figuring diesel mileage on the low side at 20 mpg as a DDer in my conditions at current winter fuel prices of 4.29 / gal and 3.29 / gal for 91 octane ethanol free premium which is all I run in all my gas powered stuff period. Comes out to about a wash within a few cents using your mileage and formula but if one figures 40 cents cheaper for straight #2 then it pays off quick with the diesel and especially if it runs well over 20 mpg then it pays off even faster. Figure 15 bucks for a 2.5 gallon container of DEF and I have no idea how much they use of it either but I think it would be a minor cost in comparison so the RAM eco diesel would still be a winner by far overall. I would definitely miss the get up and go of the Hemi as the eco is right at 1/2 the hp but about equal tq as my hemi so towing would be a bit slower getting up to pace but hold maybe a bit better once there.
