53 BLOCK Problem yes or no
I have a 53 block with 123K on it. I don't even worry about it, nothing I can do about it anyway. If it were going to be a problem you would have seen it by now.

Engine/ECM troubles
Wow that is a lot of money. I've bought several cars that didn't cost that much.

How much are they asking?

Engine/ECM troubles
What do you mean by within specs? Did you just check the vDC? Did you also check for vAC?

That is a good looking truck. What are some of the mods that you mentioned?

Nv5600
I would be interested to know the availability of NV5600 parts. I have heard that they are scarce/expensive. I wonder if it would be cheaper to source a rebuilt G56 rather than try to rebuild your 5600?

busted console lights
Holy crap!!, pretty lucky that didn't hit anybody. Maybe I need to consider a way to put a strap up there so this doesn't happen with my truck.

New Cummins owner - Intro and beating the dead horse on fuel delivery
I've called and talked to Richard a time or two and he is great at returning messages and getting you information. I'm sure he'll be able to get you the info to make a decision. I'd be interested in hearing what he has to say as well.

New Cummins owner - Intro and beating the dead horse on fuel delivery
I think most people can point out a case where that has happened. I have an uncle with an '01, completely stock, changes the filters when the motor becomes starved for fuel, works it hard on the ranch and it is running smooth with no IP problems. He has no idea what his fuel pressure is. I lost my VP44 at 120K. The previous owner kept it stock and never had any issues. I bought it just after it rolled over 100K and put a Fuel Boss on, started feeding it 2 cycle oil, monitored the pressure and then it left me stranded. It seems there are exceptions to every rule. When I was shopping for a VP44 there were disclaimers that warranties on new IPs may not be honored if you are running a stock lift pump. I guess you gotta do whatever you are comfortable with and what the wallet will let you do.

New Cummins owner - Intro and beating the dead horse on fuel delivery
I have the fuel boss and I really like it. I have had zero problems with it. I liked the idea of it being mechanical and also keeping my stock carter pump that is mounted to the block. I don't know if I would run the fuel boss without the stock pump, It would be difficult to prime. Call Richard and GDP and ask what options you would have running a Fuel Boss. The lack of options or extra cost may help you decide what route you go. I'll second wal-marts 2 cyc oil. I usually pay $12 a gallon and I try to keep it around 1 o per gallon, sometimes I go over and sometimes under. You may want to consider a larger diameter fuel supply line. I went with 3/8" but others swear by 1/2", the idea is to decrease the fuel pressure drop. With my set up and don't see any dips in pressure so I am happy with what I have. Also this will be your chance of eliminating the restrictive banjo bolts. There is always something to fix or replace. Good luck.

Truck shuts off but starts back up
When my IP went it out off just like that, but never started back up and I had several codes. If it were ECM or IP related I would imagine that you would have codes and other symptoms, but maybe not. Do you lose gauges and lights in the dash when the engine shuts off? I would double check your battery cables, make sure they are tight and clean.

Truck shuts off but starts back up
@02snimmuc did it ever throw a check engine light? or have you checked to see if there are any codes?

GPS for RV Travels
I've had a handheld Garmin GPS for years. I can throw it in a backpack , on my dash or I have a mount for my ATV's handlebars. I can upload topo maps into it, however, I wouldn't allow my life to depend on those maps. The screen is too small to ever replace a good paper map but it is a good reference. I have seen a lot of problems with back roads being accurate on map software; either the exist and do not show up on the GPS or the don't exist and do show up on the GPS. I always pack a paper map, compass, and grid reader when ever I venture out. I prefer a GPS to a phone as I have never been out of range for satellite signals, and bringing spare AA batteries guarantees that my battery will never go dead.

Bleeding Air from Fuel with No Start
I once had a similar issue and the fellas on here suggested that I wasn't loosening the connections enough. So, I loosened the nuts off a few more turns and it fired up on the next round of cranking.

Issue that has everyone stumped!! Rough Running truck
If your problem is occurring with the VP44 hot wired I would put my money on your IP being bad. With it hot wired, you have taken everything else out of the equation. The ECM is not feeding the IP information for it to run in this state. If it ran fine with your pump hot wired I would look at something electrical or sensor related outside of the VP44. That is just my two cents, I'd look at changing that.

New Speakers
The speakers that I pulled out of the back had "Infinity" on them. I don't know how optional that is or was when my truck came off the line.
