  1. Hard not to laugh, I imagine most of us have been there.
  2. Any instances with Hard Starts? Injectors are relatively easy to pull and you could send them off to have them tested.
  3. Is that wire damaged? I look smashed at the top.
  4. Are there any fault codes?
  5. If there have been electrical modifications or repairs you may want to look there for electrical issues. Most people don't put a lot of effort into "clean" and "neat" wiring repairs. They can often time be a great place for corrosion, cold solder joints, or loose connections.
  6. You have a great perspective on life. Many people would have looked at that trip and only say the misfortune and bad luck. I think good can be found in most situations if you look for it. Being positive and happy is a personal choice and thanks for sharing your story.
  7. I doubt OReilly's checked for AC noise. This is where you check to see how much AC voltage your alternator may be putting out. With you DVM you can measure that, your reading will be anywhere from .001 to .1 volts AC. Depending on your reading, this will tell you if your alternator is bad. It may very well pass oreilly's test, but it can still be causing issues.
  8. Who checked the alternator? Did they check for AC voltage? What were the results?
  9. Maybe you have several problems and not just one. Before I put all my eggs in one basket I would look at simple stuff life fuel filter condition, FP, AC Noise, grounds. You can also unplug the VP44 and shoot for power. Pin 7 on the plug side is your power to the VP44, tap on your relays and molest your harnesses to see if the voltage drops off or fluctuates. Before I spent that much money I would exhaust all other options and go through things with a fine tooth comb, because who's to say that you don't put in a new VP44 and there is a deeper problem that burns that up as well.
  10. There is no pump within the VP44 that will run without power. With no power going to the IP the truck will not run.
  11. Thought they were getting "Squeaky"!
  12. A lifetime warranty seems like a pretty good deal as long as they stay in business. I wonder what that warranty covers or what would void that warranty? This may be a silly question, but is the odometer stored in the ECM?
  13. The ISSPRO gauges have a light that you can program to come on at any FP that you would like. But if you are throwing money at something, I wouldn't mess around with just a light, I would certainly put your money to a gauge. A gauge may give you a heads up when FP starts to decline, versus a light may just tell you when it is too late.
  14. That is a great looking truck and the wheels turned out great.
  15. Troubleshooting this really isn't that complicated, but as has been mentioned you need to know what your fuel pressure is coming from the LP. Since you haven't mentioned it, I assume that you do not have a FP gauge in your truck. You may be able to rent one at an auto part store. There should be a schrader valve on the IP where the fuel line come in from the LP. Having a FP gauge in the cab is essential, but this would help you figure out what is going on.
  16. So does it die or is it stuttering? After I start my truck after priming it will stutter for a second or two and then smooth out. Look for signs of lose fuel connections. Also, have you done any mods to the truck, is there a programmer on it? What about fuel pressure?
  17. Any idea how many miles they put on it? And how far was it from where it was taken? I wish my truck looked that good.
  18. Just to clarify. The truck ran out of fuel? You have recently changed the filter? After you prime the fuel system, you can hear the lift pump run, but it is running louder. After it primes it will only run for a minute? Do you have a fuel pressure gauge? Is it throwing any codes? Have you tried priming it and loosening an injector line? How much fuel is in the tank? You need to make sure that the LP is indeed running and if you can loosen a line that goes to the IP you can verify that it is moving fuel.
  19. I am interested to hear how it all goes. Take a few pics as well.
  20. Maybe the insurance will buy you a new dash?
  21. Did they just bust out the ignition cylinder? and reach in there with a screwdriver to start it? If that is the case, can that be strengthened so it is more difficult to steal? Just a thought. Sounds like you lucked out. I'm happy for you and glad that it worked out as well as it did.
  22. I ordered mine through Rock Auto...that is where I found them the cheapest. Although, mine do not have blinker lights.
  23. Awesome that you found it and awesome that you were able to drive it.
  24. Before we get all hung up on "society is screwed up", remember, we are talking about a very small part of society. While it is awful that anyone has had their vehicle stolen, that isn't an indicator that the world has all gone to hell. I truly believe that there is so much good in the world, but it doesn't capture the attention of the news nor does it make on our social media. Everyday people are working hard to selflessly serve others in an effort to help. Take this forum, while it may be small, but great people generously offer advice and tips to those that are at their wits end with mechanical problems. To those offering the information it may be small, but the receiver it may mean saving hundreds of dollars and fixing their truck. Obviously in more populated areas there will be more concentrated crime. I would never say turn a blind eye to it, but don't forget to give credit to all of the good that is going on. There are so many GREAT people among us trying to make the world better, just their efforts are considered "small and insignificant" to so many and so we never hear about it. just my thoughts. Sorry for the rant, but negativity breeds negativity and there is already enough of that in the world.
