  1. WhAAAAAT? You're kidding? That is awful. Was it your shop? What's the story behind the fire? I'm sorry this happened, that is just horrible. I hope it will all work out.
  2. Thanks KATOOM, the 8th digit is a 6. So, it looks like I was able to verify a couple different places that this is a SO....now I am just waiting for the pump to come in along with the other fittings and pieces that I am going to install. After I can get it running I'll verify the alternator and maybe this time next week I'll be waiting for parts to rebuild that.
  3. Is that the tablet that you use with your OBDLink? I picked one up and I like it. I can read codes from my truck and the wife's ford fusion. Pretty easy to use.
  4. That's my thoughts with this as well. That's the plan.
  5. Thanks again for the help. The tag says 235 HP, so I'll go with SO.
  6. DAP made it seem that the transmission determines so vs ho. since i have the nv5600 I need the ho. where is the engine that would give HP?
  7. I thought I had it all figured out, I called DAP today and they told me the opposite of what I thought I knew. Is the only way to find the correct pump that I need, to pull the old one?
  8. I use a needle valve as a snubber. I've never had any issues with mine. The valve is just barely cracked open.
  9. I get that. But my gauges are electric and how often to people suggest to verify pressure with a mechanical gauge. Since I am getting ready to replace my VP, I figured why not spend $20 extra dollars and put in a test port. That is my thinking. I may only use it once in a while, but it doesn't seem like a bad idea unless I am missing something.
  10. Your truck looks great, I would love to build a bumper like that.
  11. i found a tee and schrader valve at Vulcan for under $20.
  12. I am overdue my donation, I've just been waiting for to order the switch. I am waiting patiently. Can I preorder it? I'm not in a big hurry to get it in, but I would be happy to put the money down now?
  13. I have a full time gauge, but I wouldn't mind a port that I can tap into and verify that the gauge in the cab is accurate.
  14. Stickers don't interest me, I've never been one to put one on my vehicle. I did buy a stainless steel logo that is stuck to my tail gate. A t shirt is more appealable to me...but that is just me. I understand your concerns of dropping coin on a bunch of shirts just to have them sit around....I do have money in hand that I would like to drop on a high idle switch....just sayin'
  15. What are the options for installing a fuel pressure test port? I know some to the late 2nd Gens had a schrader valve at the VP44 where fuel come in. But if you upgrade your fuel lines and replace the banjo that gets removed. I still have the banjo on the return line leaving the IP, can I put a test port there? Or is there somewhere else that is better? Thanks,
  16. Ice fishing the coasts of Mexico?
  17. Thanks. I was really hoping that there was something else. I guess next week I'll get it changed out.
  18. i did the hot wire test and the struck still didn't start. I took a few pictures and I figured that I would share. You could either tell me that I did it wrong or maybe it will be helpful to someone in the future. I measured voltage a the plug side and I had 12.5vdc going into the IP with the key in on. Here is a pic using a load light (actually an Anti-Collision light from an F-16). Power is good, so that rules out wiring or power issues. I then connected to the pins on the jack side at the IP and ran those to the corresponding posts of the battery. I could hear a small click each time I connected to power, but it never would start. It just turned over. Am I missing something? With these results, is it safe to say the VP44 is dead? I hate to spend $$$$$ and find out that I should have tested something else. Thanks for the help so far with this.
  19. What will be different with driving it un tapped?
  20. They do have two year warranties on their "do not tap" VP44s. The 1 year warranty was specifically for the unit that allowed for the wire tap.
  21. I'm going to do the Hot Wire Test on Saturday, and if that reveals that my IP is bad I'll order one from DAP. I talked to them today, they have an option that you can still tap the pump and keep the 1 year warranty. The cost is $1500...I'm not sure if the higher cost is just for the ability to Tap/Warranty. They have others that are around $1K. Not sure about all of the differences. I'll post back, but it may be just cursing and hoar stories.
  22. I guess I'll be changing a IP next week so I have been reading over manuals to see what I'll need. I don't have a gear puller, I found this one on Geno's http://www.genosgarage.com/product/cgp010/tools. Is there any reason it wouldn't work? Something better? Also, I figured that I'd put in a fuel pressure test adapter since I don't currently have that option. Maybe it will come in handy. Thoughts?
  23. I finally got the police report back and the other driver was found at fault. The report says she "was using emergency lights in an unauthorized manner and ran a red light. Also, she failed to ensure the intersection was clear of all traffic before proceeding through the intersection, due to using the emergency lights.". The really funny part of the investigation is the statements from her and her partner. Apparently, the only reason that she was running with her lights was because, as she put it in her statement, she had to "urinate extremely bad". Sucks that I'm out of a car because someone was about to pee their pants. Now to find someone in the gov't to pay for this...
