  1. voltage drop is very helpful, to appreciate the need for voltage drop by taking the black lead and put it on the negative battery terminal and for the positive put your finger on the positive and touch the red lead to your finger and the meter will show battery voltage lets say 12.6 volt. BUT you will not be able to even light a .500 mv test light from your finger it cant carry a load.
  2. I guess I will be doing the front band adjustment next week. thanks for all the info that made me feel comfortable to do the job.
  3. my truck came with a DTT transmission and separate shift box and exhaust brake. but I have not way to tell what converter it has. The guy I got it from paid $7000 for all the work.
  4. I did a voltage test of the water to ground going for a voltage less than 0.400 volts
  5. Well water can range from hard to soft you may be fortunate to have softer well water, mine is rock hard.
  6. I took a piece of water pipe that matched the radiator hose and put a hose fitting on one end, then I put a 1/4in pipe at a sharp angle for an air line. Been awhile but I believe I removed the stat and bottom hose and ran the water for a while then blew air and water to boost the flow to clean and flush the debris out. I also use a vacuum device to refill the coolant
  7. you do not have to add to each component the oil is carried around with the refrigerant I would add what is needed for the accumulator condenser and measure what your can remove from the compressor. pressurize and check for leaks and evacuate and charge. You can add gas to get the pressure up then you can add to the low side to charge you may have to jumper the low pressure switch to cycle it on. good luck.
  8. thanks for the fast response will order one today. is there a typical mileage before changing I have never seen a fuel pressure drop yet. I have herd 30k miles
  9. I need to change the air dog 100 filter which filter do I choose. I see the 2 micron and the 10 micron on amazon not sure which is best I believe there is a 10 micron in there now. Thanks
  10. That seems simple enough and should work
  11. I Have a switch like that for my exhaust brake.
  12. in California you can't even get a homeless to pump your gas for money. nearly all station you pump yourself
  13. that is what I do before smog dripley
  14. The first time my oil pr. dropped to 0 psi I panicked and when I go home in a rare So. Calif. snow storm I put a pressure gauge on the oil system and it was good, the next time it acted up I just bought a new pressure switch. Just got back from a 500 mile trip with the buggies 350 miles of dirt through the Mojave Trail, 150 miles on the freeway from Barstow to Laughlin Nevada. Was nice and not like other years when it is well over 100 degrees most of the time
  15. this is the sensor I put in my 98.5 $16 prime and worked fine I paid over $100 for the previous one. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01A0RH8O8/ref=ppx_od_dt_b_asin_title_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
  16. sounds good I am about 10 mph slower than you, I do have 35 in tires though, may be the factor. will be headed up there in Sept. for a month.
  17. sounds like my truck and changed differentials from another truck I got that was crashed. put the rear end in directly but the front was damaged and had the gears switched out to my front differential. I think it is a small change but so hard to do an exact study. I pull about 12k total 5th wheel does ok with a exhaust brake rv275 edge ez hx35w turbo. Been on a 4000 mile trip and all was well, a bit sluggish going to the sierras up some very steep grades.
  18. That is the reason why I have one, I go down some severe mountain roads with my 5th wheel.
  19. I too will be at Mono Village later this year for a month. and I tow a loaded 5th wheel about 12,000 lbs. RV275, edge ez, waste gate elbow and HX35w turbo, and AirDog lift pump. pull good enough for most everything, took it across country and the Sierras every year. also have a DTT built transmission. Always can ask for more but it does the job. 4.10:1 gears and 35 in tires. That is where I stand.
  20. WHEN my abs light came on it was the sensor in the rearend. On my 98.5 ram
  21. try this there are more than one set of colors https://www.etrailer.com/faq-wiring.aspx
  22. some of the truck with a tow package had a plug that the 7 way goes to for the bumper and IF SO then you just can by the TEE for that plug with wires that goes to the bed
  23. Also had a bad rearend in a cherokee bought another Cherokee for about $300 switched it over and at the time in California turned it in for more than that for smog refund
  24. Just a question, the relay on start is closing BUT is the computer itself sending some sort of pulse with modulation to control the pressure NOT the relay opening and closing
  25. my boy and I replace the rear main on his 3rd gen truck that was looser than those used on our 2nd gen trucks. We bought one with a thin metal sleeve that helps guide it in without destroying the lips of the seal, DARN I just threw it away after sitting on my bench for a couple of year. But get the kit and is easy. The old one on the 3rd gen was pulled out by and and barely in the motor. the new one is a tight fit. one the trans is out it is easy.
