  1. I know the old compant from the quad was " more power, but it isn't as smooth" is that still true? I know my quad used to be kinda on / off in situtations, I don't have that issue anymore, but I am unsure how smooth the edge is.

  3. So just an update to this thread as we learned more with more people using the beta tuning with the new Cruise timing adjustment. It seems that timing in the 20* range is getting the best MPG so far. I know the engine really starts to rattle when you hear the timing jump.
  4. Went up hunting this weekend. Drove from Colorado Springs to Westcliffe Co, mostly 55 mph when on highway. Climbed a pretty steep pass for ~15 miles of the 76 miles each way. Peak Elevation was ~9,000 feet. Lots of idle time and slow mountain driving on dirt roads. ~ 150 miles at 55 mph ~ 45 miles in the mountains 15 - 35 mph Filled up 10.3 gallons trip was 191.3 = 18.5 MPG Pretty happy with that considering everything. I should be pretty easily above 25 MPG on flat highway now.
  5. I dunno where "canbus" came from when talking about tuners that connect to the data link. The oh so common " canbus tuners limits to 65 hp" has been thrown around since before I owned a 2nd gen. So yes it is just "SAE j1939" The name canbus doesn't appear to come about until later, but it appears to just be a nomencalture difference. j1939 uses CAN 2.0b for physical and data link layer. Regardless not really that important. Is it canbus? kinda yes and kinda no, it techinally uses canbus.
  6. You said you probe all the wires in the VP harness correct? If the Psg is good still then I would think your issue is a short in one of the wires between the ecm and vp44
  7. 2nd gen trucks use canbus j1939 to communicate between the ecm and vp44
  8. Personally I would just run normal diff fluid.
  9. Then if that code is left the computer on the vp44 isn't working as expected.
  10. I like my rolling smoke diesel kit. It is holding up well.
  11. Edit: just saw that you said you pickup was 1/2" off bottom. I am betting that is your issue if you have anything other than a full tank of fuel. My draw straw sits maybe 1/8" off bottom or less. I fought this issue for many years and many replacement pumps. The only thing that solved it was a different pump. I threw in big line kits, replaced, this and that, tested for leaks etc, with no success. I pulled the air dog out and put a pure flow(original owners new company) in and bam no more issues. For good measure I would pull the tank pickup and verify it is all good. Ensure you have a full tank of fuel. But the different noise you head is kinda key to pump issues.
  12. 1. iat, map, crank, cam, oil press, ect, app,s think that's it...think 2. apps would be my first guess. 3. not really the ecm will take in bad info. truck might not run, but the ecm doesn't really throw a hissy fit if something isn't right 4.ccd and sci bus to allow communicaiton between the pcm and ecm for things like revs to cluster, coolant etc. 5. When you have too muhc AC noise from the alternator strange stuff happens. 6. typically we want to see under .03v ac do you still have the 1689 code? Have you done an apps reset?

  14. I would leave wiretap TPS low as if it is too high you will feel wiretap ramp up VERY quick once it comes on. If you are concerned about wiretap at cruise sucking down fuel just leave it on lvl 3. I would do that regardless, but I dunno if lvl 3 is enough fuel for you or not.
  15. Look on your local Craigslist for someone that sells "blem" batteries. I have a guy local that sells mis labeled Dekas for %30 of new. I have gotten 7 or 8 batteries from him for different stuff and they all have been great.
  16. Do 12v have the big plug in the PDC? I know on 24v this connection being loose can cause strange issues.

The V2 series of tunes no longer use the 1000 vs 2000 vs beta naming structure. You can make your tune as aggressive as you want using the CANbus tuning and the wiretap tuning. My truck will not clean up smoke up top. Typically this is due to your pump stretch settings being too high. While increasing Pump stretch will give better seat of the pants feel, it can cause smoke up top. Also, HP tends to be higher when you use pump stretch near 1600 vs 2000. This will depend on the truck. Why do I need to datalog? Datalogging is a VERY important part of custom tuning. You cannot expect to remember what the truck is doing by watching the screen. Exporting your data log will greatly help your ability to fine tune your setup. What do I do to get 20+ mpg on the highway First and foremost your right foot and your tires / lift / speed are the most powerful tool when it comes to getting good MPG. The Quadzilla can greatly help get MPG numbers up, but if you are driving 75MPH+ and you have big tires there is only so much the quad can do. Use the Cruise max timing setting to get your timing to be ~20* at your cruise state. The base time for cruise is 17* so if you use the cruise time of 3* you will get a total of ~20* at cruise. Also, make sure your CANbus tuning is pretty smooth. You want just enough fuel at your cruise PSI to keep EGT's down. Lvl 2 and Lvl 3 feel the same? Lvl 2 simply applies your CANbus settings up to 10psi. once 10psi is reached it will hold that CANbus tuning. Lvl3 users CANbus tuning from 0 - 30 psi. Can I switch between tunes on the fly? Yes, you can select any custom tune from your menu at any power. The settings will take ~5-10 seconds to fully apply. Why do I need more than 1 custom tune? I thought the V2 tune was supposed to do it all? Thanks to the tuning ability of the Quadzilla Adrenaline you can have a race tune and a tow tune. We feel that you should have as many tunes as you like at your fingertip. Do I need any special flash to run above 3500 RPM? No, the Quadzilla allows you to set a redline anywhere between 3200 and 3700 rpm. Keep in mind not all trucks will turn 3700 or even 3500 rpm. due to the design of the VP44 it is VERY hard to make power than high in the rev range. We don't feel like you should be limited in your tune, but please have realistic expectations. How can I pass Emissions? Using the power Reduction you can set you lvl1 fuelin go be anything between 0-100% of OEM.
