  1. Truck is back together. Runs good. Gotta do a little more code work.
  2. Didn't know that's how they made batmowheels.
  3. Yet another topic that needs to be written up into an article for those of us unlucky enough to have emissions tests. please add any tips or correct anything I put in. Up until this point I have had a pretty much stock truck. I turned the box off and passed without issues. In el paso county Colorado Springs we are required to pass a couple of tests. Snap test at 35mph and 55mph I think with opacity of %30 or less. ( what does %30 opacity actually look like) A snap test means that the person will go from idle to %100 throttle and watch for smoke output. What I wanted to do is put together some things you can do to help pass with your diesel. in my case a 24v with 100 hp injectors, quadzilla adr, and a he351ve. My setup should pass without much issue provided I turn the tuner off, however some guys might not be able to pass. Lets start with the basics -tuner off -Smarty that can do half power mode. -throw oem injectors in -Fix any boost tests -ensure your map isn't stuck reading high -run no additives, no 2 stroke. -new air filter -ensure that the truck is up to temp. Beyond the basics, So lets start with timing, Does timing tuner levels help or hurt smoke levels when talking about passing emissions? Another thought I had was to disabled TC lockup to help pass emissions if they do a snap test on the dyno. This would decrease spool time, decrease load, and thus decrease smoke. In conjuction with that depending on how they do the emissions tests you could disabled OD, which depending on the speed they do snap tests would keep rpms up rather than having to deal with the low rpm load found at 45-55 mph while in OD. If you wanted to get pretty technical you could install a voltage clamp on the map sensor wire, to 5ish psi, to limit the boost the ecm is going to see, thus limiting the fuel the ecm will depend. Thoughts?
  4. Injectors got here a day early to they are in. Now I am only waiting on the new grid heater gaskets before I can get it all back together. Getting excited to fire her up.
  5. Not the best case situation, but if I had to I would only use the spare on a steering axle rather than drive axle. I would really look for a 17" steel rim with a cheap used tire though.
  6. You an auto or 5 speed? If auto it needs to be beefed up, if 5 speed then it needs a clutch. If you do the above and have the budget go with the comp.
  7. How much is "a little more" ? a edge ez can be had for cheap cheap cheap and give you an extra 60hp/120ish ftlbs
  8. Congrads man.
  9. Sweet injectors should be here on Thursday. I can't wait to get the truck back on the road.
  10. First post updated. Only waiting on injectors now.
  11. No Hostility, internet is a dangerous place to guess emotions. I will like your site in my write-up ( whenever I actually get around to doing it) All we are saying is the more info/ways to do something we can put out there the better. I will likely end up buying one of your shields at some point here and getting a mega like you said to do what I want out of my setup.
  12. agree'd But really if you want to write something up I will create a general "controlling your he351ve" thread and put your stuff into it.
  13. My plan was to build the thread as I go then pretty it up and make an article out of it. If you want you can post up your own thread, explain how it works and I will merge that into the article in regards to do a homebrew controller for an he351ve. Multiple methods etc. I like your board a lot I just really wish it had the ability to tie more sensors into it. Seems to me if you are going to go through the work you might as well use it for gauges too ya know. Nick
  14. Lol that's a new way to install an outlet
  15. That has to be post of the year material.
  16. Once again the issue was due to bad wiring on the pot. I am going to have to figure out some better wires. These have caused too many issues for my liking.
  17. mine has seen 35+psi a couple times thanks to my old raptor going nuts.
  18. I like to tinker with stuff. It was benchtested and working well, but I broke the #1 rule of coding, Test after making a change. I made some changes to help the display read more accurate, but the turbo wasn't connected. Something with that change caused the issues. I am guessing that I am getting overlapping commands to the turbo IE commanded 600 position, but by the time the turbo reads the command another one is coming in causing the turbo to cycle as it tried to hit the commanded position. Gonna take a good bit of work to figure out for sure though.
  19. Well I screwed something up somehow The turbo cycles rapidly when using the pot to update turbo pos. Gonna take some time to figure out why. Might be interference or something.
  20. Duramax is a joint between gm and isuzu. it is hard to knock an isuzu diesel. they are REALLY good engines.
  21. Just whatever wally world or maybe it was dicks had. Standard back window gun holders.
  22. Yea you can lower the seat fine. they stick in there good, I haven't had one fall out ever, but you could easily use a bungie cord to keep them tight.
  23. too late now, Chris at DFI should have some 100's back to me in a few days here.
