  1. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ot5ovZr_PVQ&feature=youtu..be How come some of you guys that live in the northern states or Canada didn't think of this?
  2. rburk has a article posted in dodge cummins truck articles jan 5 2011. A lot of good Info.I built my own harness using those wiring diagrams. The sport headlights from headlight depot are DOT stamped. It's sure an improvement over stock 2500 head lights.
  3. I just replaced mine with a napa rebuilt box. , recommended by MinTom they are not rebuilt by Cardone. Seems to be a good moderately priced rebuild. So so good.
  4. Rock auto has a pitman shaft seal kit. Don't know if it fits a borgenson box. Could have a bigger pitman shaft.
  5. I just replaced my steering box last week with a napa rebuilt box for $154.00.My old box was leaking and the pitman shaft had a lot of play causing the truck to wander. The new box with a complete fluid flush corrected the wandering. I checked on red head and borgeson boxes and they are pretty pricey .
  6. I think that you made a good choice ,at least if it fails you don't have to wait at 3 weeks to get it back.
  7. It's a great time to remember our God, family, and friends. May God bless all of the gang on Mopar man .Merry Christmas everybody. ART
  8. I called a bunch of them before I finally picked the one I used. They all tell you that they are the best and that they can fix any auto computer. My knowledge of computers is very limited, so most of the stuff I'm hearing goes over my head.If I had it to do over again I wouid spend the extra money and get one from cummin, and maybe save some head aches
  9. This may not help, but here is my experience with ecm's .Last feb. I was having a problem with my ecm not powering the lift pump once the the engine temp got to 180 degrees.I had the dodge retrofit in tank pump with a relay, so I could jumper relay and get the lift pump to run. I messed around diagnosing it for about a month and finally determined that the ecm was failing when it got warm. I searched around the web and found all kinds of companies that would check my ecm out for 100 bucks, or rebuild it, or sell me a rebuilt one.I sent it to a place in Florida got a call back in a couple of days saying there was nothing wrong with it,got it back ,same as before. So I took it to a diesel shop here in Tucson .I for got to mention that it had codes po1693 po370 p0230 .the shop told me that they determined that the ecm was bad and the vp44 was bad and they'd be glad to fix it for 5000 bucks, and would refund the $200 diagnostic charge if I had the work done there. I talked to the service manager at the Dodge dealership that I knew and trusted and he told m that ecm's were not being made any more and the only ones they could get were rebuilt blank s and that the reprogramed them, he said they were out of them, but cummins had some for $1400. I decided to send my ecm to AES in JAcksonville FL. .They kept it for 3 weeks ,finally sent it back saying the reason for the delay was the programs for these ecms were hard to get. When I got It back it wouldn't power up (no wait to start light)I sent it back with a threat to dispute the charges on my credit car. When I got it back it did start and seem to run ok, but I didn't have the ecm reflashed,I figured if it aint broke don't fix it, I did go ahead and replace my VP44 and put in a fass 95 ,drop straw andbig line kit. Thanks to Mike and all the members on this site I was able to do this myself. Sorry about being so long winded.I hope this post helps someone so they don't go thru what I went Thru.
  10. I have a Industial Injection rebuilt VP from DAP.not the cheapest one they had.It cost me about $1100 buck with new electronics.Has never had a problem You can probably get That VP straight from Inustrial Injection or another vender.
  11. thanks. I can't justify that much money for a Borgeson even though they will probably last longer .MnTom suggest aNapa box .They are on sale till dec. 24.th He has one and has never had a problem. It has a 1year warranty.
  12. I need some opinions on which powers steering box to replace my bad box with. I can get a rebuilt one from rock auto for 139 bucks.Borgeson and redhead are pretty pricey. Are they worth it for average driving ?, I don,t abuse my truck.Just wondering whateverybodies opinon is.
  13. I agree Mike ,My dash had so many cracks ,it broke in small pieces but I live in Arizona and the sun destroys plastic here. Like mike said it's a lot of work ,if it cracks once it will crack again. A new dash should fix it forever.

Having grown up in northern Wi. ,I don't envy you guy's in those cold climates .Now I know why I moved to Tucson. It was 57 degrees here this morning
  16. Stay away from Glow **** gauges, they are not very reliable.I have them and wished I would have spent the extra money for Isopro .Mopar man has switched from mechanical to electronic, like he said he likes them so far.
  17. Yes those screws hold the defroster and demister ducts to the outlets under the dash top. They are hard to see till you get the dash rolled back .I was able to remove and install them in the new dash top using a mirror a flexable 1/4 in. drive extension,I don't remember what size socket fits the screws. The Dodge factory sevice manual has terrible details and pictures showing the at attachment points. I did this about 3 years ago and didn't take any plctures of the under side of the dash
  18. I just had my fass titanium go out after only 8mos. Istill had the Dodge retro fit pump in the tank so hooked it back up.I talked to as and they are going to warranty it,after they check it out.The pump had erratic pressure readings. pressure on my gauge would some times jump around in the last month.I figured my gage was acting up.It finally quit fri. and left me on the side of the road ,after jumping the relay and having power to the pump,I called a tow truck,Spent yesterday hooking up the in-tank pump and am back on the road. Has any one out there had similar problems with fass pumps? hodag56
  19. Mike, I replaced my dash with a LMC p.n. 56-7411-DG came out really good can't tell it from the original. The color is a little lighter but not enough to worry about. You have to pull the the whole dash down and drop the steering column just like you did when you replaced you a/c evap and htr. core. The biggest problem is putting the screws in that hold the air outlets on top of the dash. The was a article the TDR magazine last year by a guy that needed his windshield replaced ,so he had a auto glass co. come out and take the windshield out and called them back after he put the screws holding the ducts to the dash, and put anew windshield in. That article was in issue no. 82 nov/dec/jan 2013 -2014 of the Turbo diesel register. It took me the better part of two days but I'm old and crippled up so you could do it in a lot less time. Hodag56 you
  20. I,ve been getting my tires at Costco, and they fill them with n2,and will fill them free. They also rotate and balance the free I have found tires I bought from them to be as well priced as discount tire.I don't know how much advantage you get from n2, but if it's free I use it.
  21. Agreed, I have never been able to get them off either, without destroying the hose. You ought to be able to get a short piece of hose locally at any commercial hose supply where your at in n.w. ohio.American hose supply is the distributor for parker hose, I have bought a couple of feet of 1/2 in blue parker hose from them.
  22. THanks for your advice , I think I'll go ahead and get mechanical ISSPRO fuel and boost ,I wonder how reliable there exhaust temp thermocouples are? I will be using a needle valve .I read something about a short piece of grease gun hose .,Is that really something you need if you use a needle valve?
  23. Need some opinions on gauges. Before I joined this forum I put Glow shift gauges and a 3 gauge pillar pod on my 02 After reading many of the members comments I was sorry that I got them.I've nothing but trouble with them, Thermocouples going bad, sensor going, out irratic fuel pressure readings.I've been seriously thinking about chucking the them and getting ISSPRO or Auto meter mechanical gauges to re place them.Any reason I should think about electronic gauges.DAP has a special on ISSPRO gauges ?
  24. I agree,I got a fass and a Industrial injection VP44 and they were great to deal with.
