What NV5600 fluids are yall running?
I've ran the Amsoil Syncromesh in my 05 since it had 15K miles on it. It has 140K now and shifts great.

Oil and filter what do u guys run
The Donaldson DBL7349 has better filtration and higher flow ratings than the Fleetgurad. The DBL 7349 is 100% at 20µ, 98.7% at 15µ, and 59.97% at 7µ. The Fleetguard LF16035 is 100% at 30µ. The Amsoil EaO80 and DBL7349 have the same media. I run the Donaldson because it's cheaper. I have heard that Fleetguard has a NanoNet oil filter in the works, so I'll be curious to see how much better it is than the LF 16035.

DYI- what do you do yourself vs have done?
I’ve done a ton to my 3rd gen. Most of it I would do again. What are your goals with the truck? Is it an 04 or 04.5?

Getting ready to tow
If the motor is stock then just drive it smart. That’s it. An exhaust brake would be very handy, but if towing isn’t a common thing then the cost may not be worth it. You dont need any gauges for that trip. People do it all day every day and just drive their trucks. Make sure the fuel filter meets the proper specs (OEM or Baldwin are all I’d run). Have a clean air filter. Thats it. That’s an easy trailer to tow. The Idaho and Montana mountains aren’t that bad. Slow down a little, drop it out of OD and enjoy the scenery. What spacers? If you think cylinder temps and EGT’s are the same then think again. Pistons are exposed to temps well above the EGT. Piston temps and EGT’s have way too many variables to have a direct correlation. A stock 04 will have higher EGT’s and lower piston temps than a 02, and the same thing for an 02 vs a 97. So nothing to worry about being at 1400° on the EGT’s if the tuning is stock.

Cylinder pressure
My EB will hold the temps well above 500° depending on the temp of the manifold when the EB was engaged. Lets say I just finished climbing a 6% grade at 1100° and immediately start down the other side at 6% with the EB on. It takes 3+ miles for the manifold temp to drop below 600°. It's actually not a bad thing, as this slow reduction in temps doesn't put the valves thru such wild temp swings. IIRC minimum psi for combustion is around 350 psi, so yes 60 psi is nothing for the cylinder.

Can anyone truly help me find a way to disable my fuel system?
Truck will still run without a lift pump.

Doubling your bills isn’t too bad when your increase your income by 5-10x. I’m sure there are other options than Ontario.

Big change in my life...
So this is the point in your life where you must decide if you want to continue on your road or change things up. You could always move to town, close to where your mom needs her treatment and get a regular job. That would keep mom taken care of, and let you get some more interaction, friends, conversations, and income. Sure it's not the ideal mountain life that you love, but then again it may not be as ideal anymore... otherwise this conversation would not be happening. There would be pro's and con's to moving, but either way it will be what you make of it. You've got a truck and a RV, you can move to town and then spend your time on the road to the mountains when you're not at work. That's how the rest of us get by. Don't get me wrong, I'd love to live up where you do but I don't have a way to support my family up there so I visit the mountains and hope to retire up there some day. It's the end game that keeps me sane in the city... and really Boise is a great place to live. I've live in bigger cities, there is very little to complain about in Boise. Just throwing it out there.

Nv4500 atf+4??
Trans specific fluids are different than gear specific fluids. The NV-4500 uses a GL-4 and the axles use a GL-5. There should not be any need for limited slip additive in a NV-4500.
-
Nv4500 atf+4??
Why do you need a posi friction additive for the transmission? Shoot me a PM if you want me to get you a price on Amsoil.
-
Nv4500 atf+4??
That's not something I've seen, thou I don't take anything to the dealership for routine fluid changes. Is there a TSB for this? If not, the dealership is just being lazy and not following the OEM fluid requirements. ATF4 does not superseded the OEM specs, unlike enigne oil changes.

No, tuning is NOT illegal. Not by a long shot! Altering the effects of emissions is, but there are plenty of emissions legal tunes and tuners. Something tells me that emissions laws and firearm laws have different enforcement :-) Most people on here work 40 hours a week, commuting time not included. Many people have kids, families, etc that take up time. It's life, it happens to most of us. Keep your chin up and keep plugging forward. Not saying what you're going thru is easier or harder than the rest of us, just pointing out that we all have challenges.
-
Nv4500 atf+4??
NV56000 and NV4500 do have different syncro's, hence the different fluid requirements.
-
Nv4500 atf+4??
I was thinking the NV5600 had the fiber syncro's and that's why it wanted syncromesh.
-
Nv4500 atf+4??
I didn't think the NV-4500 used fiber syncros.

Big change in my life...
Reading the Oregon statues I am not sure it's legal for you to open carry in Oregon as a non-resident unless you're temporarily living there. But it's likely not an issue as it doubtful the cops will ask your residency and address if you're not causing trouble. It is all a bunch of BS, and some of it's getting worse while some of it is getting better. The way I look at is that I'd rather not think about where I can and cannot go, and that takes a little red tape and a permit. Not too hard.

Big change in my life...
@Mopar1973Man I mean for a pistol. Do you have an Oregon permit? I haven't gotten my permit in Oregon yet, but I thought that the Oregon training requirements were the same as the Idaho Enhanced.

Big change in my life...
What do you do in Oregon?
-
Big change in my life...
Do you have an enhanced permit? It's been legal for a few years if you do. https://security.boisestate.edu/guns-on-campus/

Big change in my life...
Print your receipt and you're good while you wait for the mail. 3% fee is lots better than 100 miles, 5 gallons of diesel, and 2-3 hours of your time...

Big change in my life...
@Mopar1973Man you can renew tags online in a Idaho. https://itd.idaho.gov/itddmv/ If you don’t have the postcard number you can call the DMV and they will give it to you over the phone.

freezing fuel filter
It's a pre-filter for a pump, aka rock catcher. 50µ is even smaller than some pre-filter pumps. This is not his only filter. Some stations sell it and don't advertise it very well. It might just be worth a question, or another fuel station just to rule that out. An IR gun is how I check mine. Thou generally the first place you gel is the first unheated filter, which would be the inlet screen. While 50µ is huge for filtering, it's not huge for gelled fuel.

freezing fuel filter
Some anti-gel products work with bio, and some don't.
-
freezing fuel filter
While 50 microns isn't all that fine, that's a really small filter for 50 microns at DDRP flow. I would change the filter, and then try a new fuel station. Is there any change that the fuel is B5-B20? It's much harder to treat biodiesel and it gel's much easier.
