  3. The places that sell Pennzoil and Royal Purple in my area, one which is Walmart for pennzoil, the other is Canadian Tire for Royal Purple, do not stock and cannot order any type of transmission oils, only motor oils :banghead: So basically it looks like i'm either going to the Dodge dealer, or GM if the GM meets the same specs as the OEM stuff. Thats why I asked here because GM's doesn't give a listing of compatibilty on their bottle, but the interent "kind of" leads me to beleive it's one of the same. And of course wondering who's running the LS additve here
  4. So I have searched here after reading an article on CF about fluid to use in the NV5600. Some say Pennzoil, Amsoil, OEM..etc. First off, is the Syncromesh transission fliud made for the GM brand the same stuff reccomended for this tranny? From what I can read I think it is, just makes a fella question it when GM sells for less then half of what Dodge dealers want. I have also read the theory of adding the limited slip (1 bottle) to the tranny when doing an oil change to it. Has anyone in here been doing it to theirs? I think i'm going to do a fluid change on mine and not sure what to put in it. I can't get the Pennzoil or Amsoil here in Canada where I live so it's gonig to be dealership oil or maybe the GM fluid if it is in fact the same and the limited slip oil if it's a good idea
  5. Thanks for all the information fellas. Wow, had no idea the pricing on injectors until I just looked . As of right now my truck isn't really causing me any major issues, I just wanted to move up to something that is newer and drives better. I've dumped alot of money into mine the last 2 years, and I can say there is still some things even though I have spent the money on to fix, hasn't really satisfied me yet. The one major one is the steering...had my front end all checked over, spent the money for the Borgeson gear and at first I though wow, this thing steers awesome, but after driving it for a bit, it still has something that isn't right and i'm getting tired of searching for it. Soon going to have to do the clutch/PP and some other things, so i thought this truck has come along, and maybe it's time to consider moving up. In saying that, I don't want to go from the fat to the fire so i though I would ask here what i'd be getting into. The truck's an 08 with about 45 thousand Km on it I think he said and i can get it for about 20 grand. Truck looks mint from a walk by I did one day (didn't know it was coming for sale so didnt look hard). In the USA thats probably an average deal but here in Canada it's cheap . Most i see are going for $25-30. Haven't decided what i'm doing yet...have some reading to do and trying to find on here a dpf/egr delete kit complete
  6. O sorry, I thought 3rd gen was 2003-2010 ? Not really sure whats aloud around here, but I do know there are no emmission tests done when i go for inspections. I've been reading alot on the turbo issues, DPF issues, mileage..etc. Just wanted to ask in here for an opinion also. Alot of owners say the VP44 trucks are junk also, but i don't have to many issues with mine...knock on wood! Many type can be junk so I'm keeping that in mind when i review
  7. Hey fellas. I currently have an 02 but have a chance to upgrade to an 08 with about 30 K on it . I haven't really payed to much attention to the newer Dodges so I'm going to ask here...what's the Pros, what's the Cons. Is this model year something I want to get into or not? Would like to know about engine, driveline...evrything anyone want to give an opinion on. Do these have this after burner exhaust thing on them I hear people talking about, is it something that can be removed easily
  8. I second that...they work well. Had the same problem, but all gone now
  9. Kind of related to the chip question, is the hot unlock on the edge worth the money ? Do you see power increase,or faster response or ????
  10. Love my edge juice with attitude. Had 175 bails on the trailer tonight, 6th gear on the highway and held 60mph on the big hills not problems on mileage setting ..
  11. Looks and sounds pretty much the same as my Fuel Boss . I love it
  12. I wouldn't mind popping in on this conversation with an opinion on the "free health care" part of it if I may being i'm from Canada, a country that has this set up. I haven't really payed any attention to what your Gov't's free system is going to be like , but I can tell you this about ours. We have a huge shortage of doctors in the province I live in, one case here I know of is one doctor having over 3500 patients by himself, This doctor is in his eighties himself and who knows what will happen when he dies, to his patients. Wait times on our medical is at most times ridiculous, unless you have a good doctor that can push you in for tests, but that being said, if they suspect or know you have a life threatening issue, they are not as bad as some things. Ex: I have been on a waiting list since April of 2011 for an MRI for a sinus problem I have, and the doctor said he wanted to get one on me to rule out any tumours in my head or sinus passages. It's to the point now that if they do call me I'm going to ask if they're joking...i'd most likely be dead by now if it was a tumour ,would be my response.Doctors here get payed "ok", but honestly for what they do and the hours some of them put in, I don't blame them for coming across the border to the USA or other countries that offer a much larger bowel of gravy to them, and that's what is causing a shortage here. Treatments here.... here is my take on it compared to what I "hear" about the USA. Cancer : you go in, they do tests and find you have cancer, they look at your age, how severe they think it is, they basically look at a chart that groups you as well as any other person similar to you going through it, and say, "this is the treatment for this group of people". I'm told with the USA that they treat you as a specific case and look at the best treatment for you, for your body, giving different treatments between lets say Joe's cancer and Tom's cancer. Does that give a better survival rate, I don't know? My wife went through breast cancer 4 years ago at 37 years old, they gave her a mixture of chemo that most likely was the exact same mixture as the other person beside her getting treatments for maybe a different degree or stage of cancer, because it was for "that general catagory" of the disease. Personally, I think if you are a paying customer and can afford the treatments, you then get the one on one types of treatment for your type of cancer, that we have heard the USA can offer people, but again that comes with a sometimes financially ruining pricetag, unless you have insurance that covers most of it. Now, with all this being said, the cost associated with my wifes ordeal most likely would've financially burdened us for many many years (not that that would've mattered), so we are lucky we have "free " health care. My father had a heart attack 24 years ago, they did a few balloons to his arteries, when the small metal stint first came out onto the market that they insert to keep the artery open @ $4000 a pop, he had 2 inserted, no cost to him. He had hundreds of hospital visits, doctor visits, and tests throughout his last 24 years, and it didn't ruin him finanically because we have this system here. I'm sure if they had shown us a bill on him from start to the time he died last Sept, it would've been well over $200 k, but thats a guess. My 8 year old niece, brain tumour 3 years ago and they dealt with her for a solid year and a half, and are still doing things to her to get her back to rights. Without an exageration I bet that bill has to be over a half million for what I see them do for her so far. Some things had to be paid out of pocket, but her parents are still ok financially to my knowledge, all because of "free" health care. How is all this payed for ?...the taxpayer paying income taxes and also sales taxes. Sad part about that is most times it's the middle class earner that's paying most of the way for everyone, because the low income workers don't make enough to pay much for income tax and the rich have enough to be able to pay someone how to figure out how to get out of paying. I don't like paying taxes at all, but I never complain about paying the tax portion that goes towards health care for the simple fact of what it has done for my 3 family members so far. I hate paying taxes that our gov't throws away on moron induced decisions, but I wont go into that...to long of a conversation. Is our system good, is it bad, everyone will have an opinion, but I can say this..I went for a chest xray about two months ago and blood work, and not one cent came out of my pocket at the hospital or the doctors office when it all was done. I hope your system proves to be helpful for the people. On a last note, here's where there's a huge problem in our society IMO..a local hockey player from my area (Sidney Crosby) just got signed for a 104 million dollar deal I think it was for 10 years or something like that...and then you have a brain surgeon earning idk, maybe $125-150 K a year...where's the common sense in that? The hockey player isn't saving lives, the doctor sometimes is! There is no common sense anymore, that's the problem. That's my take
  13. I get the 1 litre containers here, (I think, never looked actually..lol). I usually just wait until i think i'm about 1/4 tank left then fill it up and add about 1/2 the bottle. Too much ? too little? IDK but seems to be keeping it happy.
  14. Well, got the backing plate on and all back together, but didn't get the fluid yet. Dealer wants a bit over $20/litre so I'm going to check Walmart before to see if they carry the proper Penzoil that I read can be used. Got a bonus at the dealer when I was there...was looking at a nice Cummins hat that I don't have yet and just asked how much it was out of curiosity. As I was walking out the door the guy threw it and said there you go!
  15. Ordered my parts today. Direct from Dodge the backing plate and the emergency brake shoes and all the clips extra . comes all assembled and just put it on for $215. Will be here tomorrow. Looks like I know what I'm doing Saturday - - - Updated - - - figured while at the dealer tomorrow I may pick up the fluid to drain and refill my transmission. I see it's 9.5 pints, do most of you guys stick with the Mopar fluid for the NV5600 ? I'm in Canada so most likely can't get some of the brands you can get
  16. I wish I lived where rust wasn't an issue too. You can see in the picture where the shoe is laying how there's no support for it anymore
  17. A while back I had my rear drivers side axle out to replace the wheel seal that was leaking and I noticed my backing plate was getting pretty ripe. Kind of said to myself, wonder when i'll have to replace that ? Found out tonight that it's now! Noticed the emergency brake was going alot further today and wasn't releasing well so I jacked it up tonight to adjust it, but noticed the star wheel for adjusting the shoes was sloppy. Thought I should take the rotor off and look ,and bam, backing plate was rotted off and the one side of the brake shoes let go. Looks like I know what I'll be doing in a couple days when my parts come :banghead:
  18. Got mine at Costco, pkg of 2- 27' long I believe they are for under $30. haven't used them much yet though to see how durable they are.

  20. Getting ready to haul out with the horse trailer! . Parked my father in laws mini truck in front of my trailer today, had one of my wifes customers asked if we really hauled it with that .
  21. I'm told the piping they put underground is thick enough and good enough quality it should never have to be touched after it's buried.
  22. I've been debating switching to it but being used to wood heat i'm worried I wont be able to get the temperatures I'm used to in the winter
  23. Anyone using it for main heat source?
