1. Welcome to the fam!
2. I ordered both sets of bulbs from amazon, they were the cheapest and had free shipping. I can't compare these lights with the one I pulled out because I never tried them but there are bright. - - - Updated - - - Does one filament light up for low and the other light up for high in the low beam bulb along with the high beam bulb? My buddy with an 02 sport came over tonight and I looked at his. The outside bulb (low beam) has 2 filaments, one low and one high. When on low, only 1 filament in the low beam lights up and no high beam at all. When the high beams are on, the other filament in the low beam and one filament in the high beam light up. The problem with the kit I bought is I dont get the high beam filament in the low beam bulb lighting up when the high beams are on.
3. Not yet, Daniel Stern has not returned my call or email yet. There is a member here that made his own harness a few years ago and he has all the part numbers and all but im scarred to dive in. Do you need bulbs for your new lights? I have the 4 that came with mine but I ordered some that Mr. Stern recommended so I dont need these.
4. Maybe I did it wrong. I borrowed a buddies smarty and set my tires size and all was right but when I removed the smarty from mg truck, the speedo went back to reading wrong. Can you check it out for us? If it still works I will borrow his and try again.
5. After you remove the smarty you will loose your speedo calibration.
6. If you want mechanical, dont overlook the http://www.cumminsperformanceparts.com/dttasmefupu.html or the original http://www.opieparts.com/Products.htm . I have had a fass hpfp 150 for 5 or 6 trouble free years aswell.
7. My ultra-gauge and scan gauge both fit loosely on the obd port too.
8. My grandpas 01 does the same thing, he has never messed with it because the sensor is so expensive.
9. This is the second time my truck has done this. I helped a buddy pick up his newly acquired dodge dually and I had to winch it up onto his trailer. When I get done winching, the truck is idling at 950 and won't come down blipping the throttle or brake. I drove it 15 miles miles home and it was still doing it when I got home and every stop sign in between. I came in the house for a couple hours and went back out to reset the apps and cranked it before I did, it fired up and idled perfect. This happened last time I pulled a truck onto a trailer but I had to reset the apps to get it to idle back down. I guess this is a safety feature so the batteries don't get low?
10. I cant figure out how to get to the menu to set up my actual mpg so I cant set up actual fuel used.
11. Dealer can do it or if you have a smarty you can do it.
12. I called mr stern the other day and left a message saying I was ready to buy but still have not got a return call or email.
13. You dont want a pressure box. I had one on my 2003 and it was hard on injectors. I would stick with a smarty or smarty jr. and gauges of your choice. I like Mike and alot of other's like mechanical gauges. Check out the classifieds here and over on the cummins forum and you can usually find used smarty jr's. for $300-$350.
14. Good Lord, $70 for the kit or $265 for him to wire it up for you?
15. Well I feel like a dummy! I saw that unplugged yesterday and imediatly went for the air controls, it went right to defrost so I thought I missed something but I never started the truck:doh:, I just reached in and hit the a/c control. Got myself all worried for nothing.
16. So it does not even hook up to anything? Well I knocked something loose because I only have defrost now. As far as I could tell ( getting dark and starting to rain) I had everything else hooked up but maybe in a rush I overlooked something. I tried to start the truck earlier without the PCM hooked up and a rag over the turbo, thank goodness it didn't start!
17. Here is the vacuum line, anyone got any ideas what it hooks to?It's in the center of the second pic.
18. Well it didnt work so I put in the wiring harness from a 5 speed truck that goes from the pcm to the plugs on the driver side and it works great. I did knock a vacuum line off during and dont know where its supposed to go:mad:. I also put a 100 ohm rheostat in my iat sensor and have control from about 2 degrees to almost 300.
19. Thanks to Mike I found it. It's got 2 yellow wires going to it and its on the other side of this metal bracket being held on my this push clip.
20. I need some help, I recently acquired a wiring harness from a manual for my manual conversion and I need to see where the neutral safety switch plugs in under the dash. Could someone take a few pics and post them up of the mechanism that fits onto the slave cylinder shaft and where it plugs in at?
21. John, a buddy of mine has an ECM from a 2001 auto, I bet you could try if you needed to.
22. I have heard folks using them say the wires are small gauge and larger gauge should have been used. LMC is alot cheaper than other companies but that may be the reason. I wonder if I would need 2 or just 1 of these harnesses?
23. Got my new lights in and the low beams are brighter than my old ones but I need to get a wiring harness because only the two inside bulbs light up with the highs on. Where is the best place to get a harness? Daniel Stern sells all the pieces but you have to provide wire and wire it all up yourself, would kinda like more of a plug and play.
