  1. I completely forgot about looking at the filter until I changed the fuel line today. I have a wix fs33270 and its a 3/8 in and out, wix makes one for 1/2 line also.
  2. I just replaced all my fuel line. Closed the valve off and blead the air out. When i was done, bumped the starter to prime the pump and it fired right up. Didn't touch the injector line and no fuel leaking for days now!
  3. Mike is our very own Superman:tease:
  4. If you are bleeding injectors and it still will not start, you need to pull the filter off the airdog and fill them with fresh fuel to prime the pump. I learned this the hard way last week.
  5. I have always heard that a smarty sr will change the programming to the Bo 305/555 setup plus add the power that a smarty does to a 305/555 truck.
  6. I wouldn't change the fluids if your gonna be gone again in a month, wait until you get home for good to change the oil. I was in Japan for the better part of 3 years but my brother and dad drove my trucks once on a while for me.
  7. I agree, replace the connector tube o-rings while its apart, you can get them from cummins or DAP. I always just pop injectors in with the ball of my hand.
  8. I found one supposedly from a 98 last week with a 180 pump. Guy said it had low compression on #4, not sure if its a valve or what so maybe an easy fix or need be junk but they said maybe $800.
  9. I grew up in the dairy capital of Tx (Sulphur Springs) back when it was in its prime and now most of the dairies are gone. Its sad and some of my good friends were dairymen and sold out a few years ago.
  10. Its time to put a real engine in that truck, pull the 6.0 and find a good used 300k miled 12v.
  11. I thought it was better to top off? I always fill up to the neck with just enough room for 2 stroke oil or just about 3 inches down into the neck and fill up with 2 stroke when I get home. I would get it and try it out, you could always get your money back out of it if you dont like it. We have almost the same truck but im running 305/70/17 and bigger injectors. When mine was an automatic the best I could get was about 16 mixed hwy and city but with this 5 speed I get a hair over 18 driving the same way. I dont drive like an maniac but i dont drive like Mike either. Check my fuelly link out in my sig below, it says 16 because it was always low with the automatic but check the graphs out on the link to see how it changed.
  12. I dont see any problems in doing it all together because if there is a problem afterwards they really could not be related. Give us a shout if you have any questions.
  13. 17 is good, thats what my fass runs. So what is the truck doing?
  14. No, I think they have different voltage
  15. Start testing wires in the headlight switch and you will find the dimmer. I cant remember what color it is but it isnt hard to find with a tester.
  16. Got my pieces from Eric @ Vulcan, workin on getting a newer style filter housing with the twist off cap and then I will run new line from the fass to the filter but here is what I have so far.
  17. Was a cummins t stat? I got to see an old style cummins t stat monday. That 2000 wreck I bought had one and it is a different looking piece.
  18. Went to the pull in Wauchula and back, about 170 miles and the rest was around town, even had a few miles with trailer and the parts truck and got 18.3 last fillup.
  19. Unfortunatly, winter is not much different than summer here, except all the snow birds come back down.
  20. I was thinking the same thing but John said I could borrow his smarty so I didnt know if it would update the truck or not. I was also thinking about the vin not matching and I dont want it to be changed back to an automatic trans ecm.
  21. Welcome Zach:thumbup2:
  22. John, do you have a smarty? I have been wanting to try one but I think you wil be better off removing thwe smarty competely. I have been running my comp on 2x3 to control smoke and its working great with plenty of power.
  23. I wish you would have posted up this morning. I just swapped the ecm from my 98 auto to another guy with a 98 5 speed. I havent had mine flash and it runs, might just try to run it. I have ran a two ecms from 98's and one from a 2000 without flashing them. My stock ecm idled great and cranked soon as I hit the key but these other two 5 speed ecm's idle a little rough and take longer to start. Maybe I need a flash but not sure.
