Snubber differences
OP here... "Sinster"one is on right side in both pic's. And also going to use needle valves for flow control and shut off valve. Is sinister the real name of these? I Google sinister and get countertops .

Snubber differences
Are both these things snubbers? The "sinster" one holds back pressure more, giving it a blow test. But if any breaks off would not want particles going thru system or are they better?

New Fass Installed , Yeah...
Ok?? I had to look up sintered stone. I'll post again after finding both and take a pic to avoid to much thread drift.

New Fass Installed , Yeah...
Any difference of snubbers... 1 has what looks like a airstone on buttom and another has very small hole.

HELP With 1/2" fuel line barb fittings
One of the reasons why I like this site. Posters post back (more often) with results. Easy to review what worked for what problem. That light above gauge...low pressure?

Fuel injector lines
Called Seattle injector in Seattle They are mainly an injector place. When I mention vp44 they referred me to h&h in Tacoma. H&h said they don't "fix" them just change them out but they said they have a "tech" that knows all about them. Their "tech" said alright to plug off till you get if fixed but don't put off to long. Also asked where they get their pumps from. Answer was "various" places. Still have e mail out to Oregon fuel injection. Blue chip diesel actually said he didn't know for sure but "tech" would call me back. He actually did 3 hours later, which 1/2 way surprised me. Blue chip was one of the don't side because pressure. No surprise but the first ones to turn up in search were not the most helpful and more interested in selling imo. I don't know what mark up is on vp but must be good. Bear in mind h&h diesel is not a rebuilder but a mechanic place. But when answering the phone... if I was broke down along the road and needed a mechanic, there info shows up. I'm Leary of picking mechanic's after being hosed in yuma couple years ago. Seems like it is hard to find good mechanic. When you do find good mechanic...treat each other right.

Fuel injector lines
I've been interested in this since the posting in the 911 section. Some time ago we saw a guy at a rest area that a vice grip on a broken line but still fuel sprayed everywhere. Guess it would depend where the line broke at but fuel was still everywhere. Total mess under the hood. Then after reading Dropley's 911 post got thinking about it again. My kid when he helps me, when priming he just unscrews a fuel line at the bottom of vp pump. I thought maybe plugging off the broken line would help. Somebody else said no, a cap plug wouldn't be strong enough. Somebody else said don't plug off pump, bad for the pump. Then another members fuel line broke. I asked that member if he would mail me his broken line. After I get a broken line going to take it down to where I get my fittings and see if they can make something that would be a temp fix that you could screw in till new part comes in. Mean time of the question of whether plugging off a hole in vp is OK for a short time to get off road or maybe until a new line is available is setteled in my mind. I'm not going to plug off vp if I ever do break a fuel line. I contacted several places. One place said plugging a hole would create unequal pressure inside the vp on what they called the pump head. Another place said the timing would get messed up and never work right again without rebuilding vp. Another place said no problem. Anyway...my next step when I get an old fuel line is to see if anything can be made to have in tool box ready to go. Neighbor in the pressure washing business has couple machines that have massive psi. Pressure washers use flexible lines so maybe I can get something rigged up, to have handy. I'll post my results after I find out if I can get a "temp" line rigged up.

How many KMS/MILES you got
I like to think of it as a "Safe" old man. Son thinks of it as his truck could pull me sideways. Grandson thinks of it as...Grandpa's truck is better because it makes more noise.

How many KMS/MILES you got
WOW...24 mpg mixed city and freeway is better than I ever got. One time I got 21. That was mostly cruise control on freeway and rpm's 1900 and I put little extra air in tires that trip. And 2 wheel drive. Next set of tires going to go narrower and get front end aligned. Maybe then I catch up with some of you guys.

Valuable parts question
Next time just going to work off your posting. Showing up with what probably looked like a shopping list to them didn't help me to much. ??

Valuable parts question
Think I made a mistake. Did not turn out as planned. I printed out the list in above posting and knocked on his door once again. His wife answered the door and said he was gone but would call him. She calls and says to her husband, the guy who wants the old blue pick up is here and he has a list. What do you want me to tell him. He tells her to get his number. He calls me couple hours later and tells me I can take the "hole" thing for 700. And I do mean "hole" and not "whole". But lesson learned for me. Next time I 'm not going to have list and a bucket of hand tools in my hands.

Great. Let me know when you need mailing info. Thanks again

Injector line leak
If you have to get a new one I'd be interested in your bad one. I'm just below you, near Seattle. Another member had problems also. I'm going to experiment.

Going to 4" tailpipe versus 3?
What about towing? Think it would help egt's any if you were towing a heavier load? (Sounds crazy to me on the surface but towing 8 or 9 k trailer, the exhaust would have less resistance exiting)
-
Going to 4" tailpipe versus 3?
Planning ahead right now...truck is all stock, maybe later add little power (not much) ...right now exhaust is 3 inch. What benefits would 4 inch do from exhaust brake to exhaust tip? Lower egt some? Do I have to modify anything? Thanks

Is mild steel okay in fuel tank?
Mechanic cut my draw straw to short. Replaced it with chunk of ABS pipe. My concern at the time was temp of fuel but no problem. Because of space and where he put it he abandon draw straw and went with sump. After awhile I didn't like hose hanging down. Tore it all out and back to fuel module. looking at all plastic in system including tank and fittings makes one wonder. Apparently rays from the sun (dash board) does more damage than what diesel does. Lots of years on 2nd gen plastic fuel fittings.

Towing EGT's
Yes...hard climb. I think going west is worst. With 8k trailer I end up watching trying not to go over 1200-1250. I usually don't care about going over those temps but hill is so long, I don't like that high over a long period of time.

2000 lift pump pressure gauge
I believe programmable as in if pressure falls below what you set it for...you get a flashing light...aka early warning. If buying again...going to get one. But my auto meter do have 12 years on them with no problems.

Lift Pump Question
The so called mechanic ordered a air dog ( they have a guy that speakers "habla" . Anyway call Vulcan diesel ask him what do you need to swoop out your pump should it break middle of now where. I think fass and airdog have different elec fittings. Which ever way you go.

Lift Pump Question
Had the (great) ??experience of fass quitimg at very bad location. Nothing bad about them though...over 10 years old at time. Now I'm set up with fic fittings and 80 dollars carter pump under back seat. Takes me 20 min to...turn shut off valves, unscrew failed pump and screw back up carter and move elec connection. Then open valves and start. Was at rv park when it failed Couldn't do the work myself and ended getting hosed in process. Vulcan diesel got me set up with back up pump. Should it ever happen again...not going to be hostage to mechanic that has to call his brother we 150 miles away to translate spanish to english to order parts.

Metal in changing diff fluid
Hard to quantify making a post and didn't think about taking pic at the time. Saw several slivers stuck to magnet when changing diff fluid. Size was about diameter of sewing thread and .25 to .50 inch long. Probably 20-25 total. Almost 90,000 miles (total) and 30,000 since last fluid change five years ago. 3/4 ton and most of miles towing 8-9k trailer. Only difference this change from past is now have air bags. Normal or abnormal? If abnormal, what is next step?
