  1. http://www.whbass.com/w-h-bass-named-nations-leading-restaurant-builder/ I was actually speaking of W H Bass the company that I work for. CFA is no slouch either and them payingmthere Bill's on time make it possible for us to pay ours on time. Makes for a happy work place for all us, especially the subs. As much credit as Imtake for building successful jobs, I could not do it with out them. I know some small guys we use get paid from week to week, there is no way they could a hit like you did with AT&T. It is just ridiculous to have to wait that long for your money.
  2. I figured there was more to it than just the .006. The drivemhas always had more slack than that in it since the first time I ever checked many years ago. But does seem to have more these days than back then.
  3. In certain areas yes. You can only travel them so far. That one in West Des Moines were all new subs to us and CFA. It was a very tough build. I had a very hard time convincing people that I did know what CFA likes and excepts. Unfortunately that comes with working in 35 states, some places we dont have a great sub base. With the economy cranking like it is we struggle to find good ones at times. Our reputation helps, we actually pay people on time. Put a draw in on the 20th and we normally pay by the 10th of following month. No 30 to 60 days for your first draw.
  4. Well 006 of an inch would be barely perceptible rotating the drive shaft. It is only a little more than a brain cell. Mine has had more than that for quite a while.
  5. Just over 1000 miles. Only made it twice, once out and once back. You got to fly home on those jobs. Did another in Sioux City after that one.
  6. Maybe ya'll can answer this for me. How much free play should you have in the rear end when you rotate the drive shaft my hand. Mine seems to have gotten looser over the years. Have not checked it in a while but it seems that feel it more these days from coasting to applying throttle. No clunk or other noise but you feel it. After 445k it probably would not hurt to have someone open and look it over. I would not know what to look for.
  7. I built a CFA out kind of out your way several years back in West Des Moines.
  8. Dealing with that out my way, no flash flooding though. Trying to get my parking stoned and paved and the rain want leave us alone. But at least it aint flooding. What part of Iowa are you in?
  9. On the road again, as Willie would say.
  10. I have seen the clutches on Ebay and such for $60+. Someone said they were not serviceable but it looks to me the you can replace it. Mine is slipping and I would like to open it and see if there is a shim that can be removed so it work again. But you buy a whole compressor from $130 on up to $400. Might just go the cheap compressor route and be done with it. The warranties on all of them are pretty much no without replacing several other parts along with a professional flush of the system.
  11. Kind of like trying to tell someone who does not own a 2nd gen that 2 stroke actually quieted my engine. The looks on their faces is priceless
  12. I have never had that problem with third on either of mine. I do experience that a little now with the lower gears on occasion these days, 4th and below. But I am thinking it is the sychros growing old. That would definitely be an opinion only. The fifth thing I spoke of is just hitting the gear, not like it is hard to get into gear. Seems like the shifter catches on something and does not quite go into the gate for it. I read a lot about it years ago. Have not seen mentioned a good while though.
  13. I have no experience with the Red Line and have seen several folks that do use it and they seem to like it. I just know the the Pennzoil is recommended for it and I have never had any trouble with it. I have never really had any trouble shifting mine other than hitting 5th occasionally, just something a little finicky with gate I guess. Reverse sometimes requires hitting 6th if you are in a hurry. but its big tranny, a lot of mass spinning in there. I can slam thru them if needed just choose for the most part not to. Just my opinion.
  14. "UP" would be my guess. I am going to have to give him a call one day and talk with him about such things. There are good parts out there now and this guy sounds like he would use them. Just no other way he could put that good a warranty on them.
  15. Thats the guy and his price and warranty are great. Though I am sure it does not include any those hard parts if there broken. I still have my OE sitting on a dolly. I hope if I need hard parts, I have some spares.
  16. You can buy rebuilds as low $2500 still on Ebay and such if you trust that route. I personally don't. 12 month 12k mile warranty does not make me feel warm and fuzzy inside. Just regular rebuild while not cheap is palatable. But if need much in the way a hard parts it real pricey real quick. I lost 4th out of the OE about about 7 years ago and found one out of 02 that had 52k on it for $2500. I have put about 200k on since. Still works good but sure would like to have it gone thru. @trreed who is that guy out Texas that's supposed so good. Something Stick or another? He seems knowledgeable and had 100k warranty on them IIRC.
  17. I was wondering how those numbers were possible, but now understand. Thanks.
  18. Hardened titanium and maybe 2 more alloted brain cells to control or, Hold my beer and watch this!!!!! Snap crackle pop!!
  19. That was actually over 8 years ago when my ECM failed and before I had found this place. Even then I could find no good info to work with. By far the most popular answer I could get was check your grounds. I did not their importance then as I do now, but no one believed my ECM could be bad. I thinK I was the first in history. Maybe not but let me live in my fantasy. I did then go thru the disaster of an ECM rebuilder. First one did not work and matter of fact it generated a P0606 code that the OE did not. Sent it back and got another from them and it worked, except the cruise. The cruise light just stayed on all the time to taunt me. The second did however make the truck driveable agian, at least for a year orso till it crapped the bed. Ended up with a new Cummins ECM and have not looked back. I spent a lot of money on that debacle. @W-T's ground mod is going to help this thing last a a lot longer. It already has as many miles on it as the OE, just hope it is still in good shape.
  20. @notlimah It looks like you have that pump mounted a lot higher than most I have seen. I mounted my AD inboard of the frame rails and on the frame rail. I dont believe those filters are any lower than mine. What did you mount the pump to?
  21. I would have to agree Mr. @trreed kn all of the above. I have run the Penzoil in mine since new. At the quantities listed above. I have heard of a few adding limited slip fluid in theirs but not heard it made any difference. I think these folks are wanting a speed shifting 5600. I have the fast coolers on mine but don't know what difference it made since I did not have a temp on it prior to installing them. But they cant hurt any thing. I changed my stock clutch out at 240k. It still had some life left in it, 30k to 40k maybe. That on "75hp" Banks Ottomind tuner, pump tapped. Never slipped even pulling a 14k pound 5th wheel over the Blue Ridge mountains. Only towed it 3 or 4 times in those conditions. I think the stock clutch is a little stronger than advertised, but maybe not for @trreed. Hope his new rear end gears are made out of hardened titanium. As mentioned above some folks just want to speed shift speed. While I can when jumping out into traffic, I would rather let it shift like it wants to. Much nicer to the tyranny. I also would not allow just anyone to take mine apart. There are a lot crappy parts for them out there that will not last and it is a different animal than the well used NV4500. They only made the 5600 for 6 or 7 years then closed up shop and Dodge was the only one to use it I believe.
  22. I do know what those are. I have one on my boost pressure line, came in the kit. Did not know thats what they were called. Thanks.
