Thermostat
I think box cutters are more dangerous used on those clam shell containers everything seems to come in than anything I use them on for work.

4x4 won’t work! Help
When we put on the starter we had a hard time getting a bolt started. My arms got tired and we took a break. Got back under there and we managed to jam it in there and get a bolted started. Stuck the next in, and snugged it up. I reached up to get the 3rd one in and thats when I noticed the the spacer was rotated one bolt hole to far. Needless to say we had to take it back off.

You mean this one? Not trying to give you hard time, I have done worse.

Making new battery cables
I am leaning towards the Nations for my next one. I dont think either will get rid of the lights dimming. The grids are still pulling more than the alternator is putting out especially at idle. The Nations uses the same pulley as the OE does but I am not sure about the Mean Green. Some of the high output alternators come with a smaller pulley for better idle output. Most likely will have to replace the serpentine belt with the smaller pulley.

4x4 won’t work! Help
I dont see why not unless I am missing something. Using the hand held pump would eliminate the CAD as the problem if the engine pump want make it engage.

@Tractorman is talking about a hand vacuum pump not the one on the truck.

Electrical bug! Bad ECM
A small list is in this article. The third one is the one that @GSP7 used I believe. What did the rebuild cost you?

Thing I like about them is not having to take them off every time you need to disconnect the batteries.

Electrical bug! Bad ECM
There are a lot of places attempting to rebuild them. Most are not very good at it. We have heard of 2 or 3 that seem to be having success. That is another reason, along with cost, why it is difficult to advise someone to replace theirs. When mine went back in 09 it was mostly unheard of. I had a hell of time getting advice. No one really new what to look for. I went the rebuild route and spent a lot more money than just buying one from Dodge. Hope all goes well for you.

I take you have already re calibrated the computer for tire size but still off just a little?

17” 3rd Gen Wheels
Thought about 17's for mine but the tires cost about $25 apiece more for matching size of the Coopers I run. Never checked the loading on them. The 16" ones I bought are rated at 3560#. What are you seeing the 17 oe's rated at?

4x4 won’t work! Help
If you look at the vacuum pump and just follow the 1/4" line it will lead you right to it. It is a little over half way from the drivers side to the engine just below the wiring bundles. But since you have air blowing out of the dash vents, it is not likely disconnected as someone mentioned earlier it will default to the defrost if that line is disconnected.

Finally install airbags.
I second the W/D. Best thing we put in ours. The second AC would be great also. In the dead of summer mine runs almost constantly unless I have a good shady spot for parking.

4x4 won’t work! Help
If it was blowing on your face and feet you do have vacuum to part of the system. If you loose it completely it will blow out of the defrost only as was mentioned earlier. Mine will blow a little out of the floor also. Mine has always done that with or without the vacuum connected. When you say face is that from the defrost or the dash vents. I know defrost blows in my face.

4x4 won’t work! Help
If you have been doing in work on the top and drivers side of the motor it is easy to knock the main line out of the 90 on the cowl. Just had this happen while putting a new starter in this past week. Happens to me a lot while working in this area.

I can certainly understand the mind set there. Me, I just did not have the cash and figured to do it my self.

Cab heater questions.
Mine does have the CAD, early 02, and I think I have seen a check valve on mine but dont remember for sure where.

Lost mpg
Make sure you put something on the jaws of the vise grips so as to not damage the hose. I use squeeze clamps like you get at the lumber yard, they already have pads on them.

Nice unit.

Making new battery cables
bought mine on line at Amazon. Bought a small kit with 10' each of red and black and some connectors for about $75. Shrink wrap, solder and such ran me up to $100 bucks or so.

Making new battery cables
I does look like a good product I just couldn't work the price.out in my head. I ended up just over $100 doing them myself. I guess time will tell if what we both did was worth it.

Mine were all separate on my 02. Nothing combined like the photo.
