2nd Gen ECM reman from Cummins (price)
Back in 09 when mine went it was vrtually unheard of and i found no help anywhere I turned. It was a frustrating and expensive experience. I was fortunate when the second one failed as to the shop I ended up at. I got very lucky on that. He got me one thru cummins, programmed and installed for 1400 bucks.

Teardown and Rebuild
I tok my first traveling about 37 years ago. Back then we did a job in town and then out of town. 300 miles away was huge. Now the co i work for is licensed in 35 states and 300 miles ain't nothing. I am close to not needing the money I make now and look forward coming home for a change. As far as the Jones, screw em! Sorry for the hijack, Tyler. To easy to do with this group.

I am a salaried employee. I do receive a vehicle allowance and the company buys the fuel.

Teardown and Rebuild
I am traveling between Bowie Md and Hickory NC every weekend. That and driving around for the job is wracking up close to 1000 miles a week. Double my normal trips. I hate working up here

Teardown and Rebuild
Very nice truck. I would love to have except for the payments and with the trips I am making right now I would be out of warranty in two years. The 02 was out in 4 years but still ran trouble free pretty much for 4 more until the ECM crapped out. Still a bit jealous though. Enjoy.

2 stroke oil??
208 on my current pump with 2 stroke for 95% of its life and good fuel pressure. OE=75k, replacement went another 142k, Neither of the first two saw any 2 stroke and the fuel pressure was mostly unknown. Fuel pressure makes a difference also.

Communication issues (& more)
My grids are also disconnected going on my third year now. Just disconnect them from the battery and not the relays and you will get no codes. I wish I had some advice for you on the ECM, they seem to be at best a crap shoot.

Torque Converter Lock / Unlock Issues
The wife was with out power for about 12 hours from the storm but that was it. My brother out in Bethlehem was down for 2 or 3 days. Believe yall got the worst on that side of town however. As far as the TV cable goes it can be adjusted at the bell crank and the tranny, I believe. I would have to leave the rest to someone who knows. Never had to do it myself.

Communication issues (& more)
The blips I saw in your video seem very short compared to how mine react. Mine are on for a few seconds them off and the process starts over. Not sure what that means it just looks different the mine behaves. I have to agree with me on both of the above. AC voltage will kill the electronics over time. I would suspect the ECM also. Been there done that and have a very nice ECM paper to remind me of it. I would check with Cummins and see what they can do for you with an ECM. That is where I would go first. They might be to pricey up front but I wish I had gone there first. There is no telling how much I spent getting my cheap one. You might check this out. Someone else going thru the same thing. The Go ECM he mentions Is worth checking out. I have no experience with them but an old member here mentioned a good while back. @cajflynn. Stumbled across the post while googling one day and he mentioned them with another co that he had success with. He got 1.3 million miles out of his 2nd gen before a wreck took out. Hauled boats boats with it for a living. All and all though I have to agree on the crap shoot part of ECM rebuilders.

Leaky brake banjo's
You are right. Had to think about that for a while and mine does have washers. I stand corrected.

Tire balance
Might be the wheel. I just replaced all my oe with new and I am vibration free.

Leaky brake banjo's
Maybe the 02 is different, all my fittings are flare fittings, no washer involved.

Dying ECM?
When my AM went 8 years ago I ended up at auto repair shop that got one for me thru Cummins for $1400 including programming. Maybe a shop can get a better price than the an odd man off the street. Dodge wanted around $2500 at the time plus the programming. Hence why I went the rebuild route. Might be worth a try if you know a shop that could try, don't know. $2500 bucks would be hard to swallow.

Our illustrious government did a study on this very thing many years ago. They determined that in an accident that the people in the heavier vehicle always seemed to come out on top. This study cost several hundreds of thousands of $$$. That always irked me because it seemed obvious to me. On top of that several years later they did it again with the same results and several more hundreds of thousands of $$$. That one irked because they already knew the obvious.

Dying ECM?
I just installed a new sensor not long ago. The old one had been in the truck for years. I had also swapped in the oe sensor about 3 months ago but it broke and I had to reinstall it. Never cleaned it. Messing with the wiring harness and all the connectors did however cure my surging issues and apps codes I was getting. I then started getting the 237 code and limp mode. Just swapped one problem for another. That is all making me believe mine is wiring issues and possibly to many connectors at the MAP sensor. Sensor cleaning never did anything for me.

Well I am going to have to say that your wife knows how to drive in the winter weather. Mine don't. Last snow we had here last winter I took the wife's Saturn for a drive before I let her go. drove up to the main road no problem and u turned back to the house. Told her all was fine and she left. 30 minute later she comes walking home and the car is off the side of the road. Sounds like your wife needs to show my wife how its done. A touch off subject but any years ago when I lived in Atlanta the clutch went out on my 65 Dodge van. Had to put in the shop and I drove the wife's Toyota Corolla for 2 or 3 days out on 285. We are going about 75 or 80 and all I can see is a bumper out the windshield, a bumper out the rear mirror and door handles out both windows. Hated that crap. Kudos to the wife.

Nickel dimeing me
My problem with little cars is just getting in and out. AT 6' 4" and my butt only 6" off the ground, it is a pain. Being 64 does not help either. Wife's car is a 98 Saturn SL2. Great "little" car. Not worth a damn for much of a trip for me anyhow. As far as a money pit mine has not been bad for 16 years of service. The ECM, one tranny, and two new fuel systems. First the in tank pump and then the Air dog. The other items have mostly been things wearing out over the last 16 years. I did spot rust on the drivers side fender just started popping thru and the drivers door is getting rusty on the bottom inside. Hopefully that is not a bad omen.

Dying ECM?
Something would definitely have to be fried for me to see anything wrong in all that. I am dealing with a 237 code at the moment. Keeps dropping in and out of limp mode. I guess I had ought to disconnect my Comp and see if it is part of the problem. Way to many connectors at the map sensor. Just might be the cause.
-
Dying ECM?
I hope it turns out to be the Q also. I cringe every time someone even mentions a fried ECM since a reliable one seems hard to find and a sure diagnosis is not always easy. I was pretty much on my own when mine went. Nobody seemed to know much about them when mine went 8 years ago. And a new one would not have solved your problem. Thats another reason we are all a little gun shy of condemning one.

My 96 had a V10 in it. It was fun to drive but love the gas way to much. 12mpg going down the interstate empty and only 4.5mpg pulling the 5th wheel. The Cummins was mighty welcome. If i had to pay someone to do the work I have done to mine I would not have liked it. Time to do it is My biggest enemy.

Nickel dimeing me
I replaced the dash pad and pulled the HVAC box and replaced the heater core and evaporator for about $550. Did the work myself in couple days. I quit letting the dealer work on mine after getting the in tank pump from them 10 years ago.
