  1. Congrats on starting the family.
  2. I would like to compare it this one that Explosive97 posted. Says OE lower sealed and upper grease able. I might still have my old ones in the scrap pile to look at. If they are the same I would buy them. Who is to know if they are the same. http://www.quad4x4.com/cgi-bin/commerce.cgi?preadd=acton&key=4510
  3. A lot of quirks in the 00-02 with changes made and ball joints is another story that fun.
  4. I gues what is throwing me off is the zerks in the picture. Sure makes them look grease able. And I do get the crater you drove as contributing to the early failure of the one. Hit few my self. I agree with you and ME on this one.
  5. The moogs I have on here now are all grease-able. Te lower zerk is angled out of the top edge on a 45* angle and easy to grease. I have 100k on these and the driver side has a little up and down play in it now. A little leery of them now after what I have been reading about Moog. Wish I could find the oe spicer. Mine lasted a very long time and they were not grease able. completely sealed. Tie rods ends too.
  6. I like them both. For now, in the state of North Carolina we dont have to worry about it. We have manged to piss off a lot folks about it, but I dont really care. Seems to me we all are entitled to our own way of life. I cant wait till some man dresses up like a woman and goes in the womens bathroom to sneak some pictures under the partition of their neighbor. Who is going to scream the loudest then. About 15 years or so ago, the Episcopal church appointed their first *** Bishop. me and my siblings were trying to figure out how upset our Mom was over it. No one had the nuggets to ask so I asked her one day and her response was, son there have homo sexuals around since long before us, I just wish every one shut up about and let the man do his job. It is not up to us to judge his life style, that will between him and his maker. That is that last I heard of it. And this from woman who was born and raised in the 20's. She got this from her mother I am sure, she was a very tolerant woman herself. Bubby lived with us while I was growing up and they both had a great influence on me in early years. I sure do miss the both of them.
  7. I too extend my condolences on the loss of your father. I cant imagine growing up with out mine. WWII was the last war that we fought with total victory as the objective and let our military go at it. The military was sent to do what it new how to do with much less political interference than seen since. Carpet bombing was part of the strategy. Ted Cruz aint got a clue of what that means. This was all out total war to get it over with. If we had fought WWII like we do today, we would have sat down at the table with Hitler and Hirohito to negotiate. What would the world be like today? This day and time we send our military somewhere and tie one their hands behind there back and expect them to accomplish the same thing. Aint going to happen. War is dirty, nasty, ugly business. They longer it takes the uglier it is. Think of the casualties that would have happened had we invaded Japan. By late 1944 the American people were pretty well sick of the war. It took over 6,000 dead Marines and flag raising on Iwo to re inspire them to the finish. Dont get me wrong I am not faulting the war weary at all. We as a people detest war. but if it has to be fought, fight and get it over with. One of the books that I read on the battle for Iwo was stating how appalled the American people were with the human cost to which one of the vets replied, You think if we could stand the dying the people could stand the reading about it. The wars being fought today in the middle east will never end until the people over there get fed up with the dying and put a stop to it themselves. I feel the peaceful Muslims truly enjoy our protection, but really dont want what we have to offer in the long run. When they are not killing each other they like their way of life. There way to much more to be said but I think I will have stop here. Not enough time in the day to express it. These are also just some my personal feelings.
  8. I feel a third rest room coming on. I know what the signs look like for the the 2 I am used to doing. What is the third one going to look like. I don't think that even IBMobie has on for this. But i am sure he is gonna to try.
  9. How long did the Spicers last you?
  10. It interests me. The worst I have seen is near 220* with the 5th wheel in tow. That was in near 90* weather in some hill country but no long grades and using OD. I could get it to drop to around 195* using 5th a little more, but fuel consumption was up some. Made 2 almost identical trips a while back, one never coming out 5th and the other using 6th like I normally have over the years. 5th netted me just under 10 mpg and the return using 6th a lot and netted just over 11 mpg. But the tranny does run hotter, 20 to 25*. What is the danger zone on tranny temp for a manual? I run Penzoil synchromesh but did not see anything on there site as what temp range is ok.
  11. I put a temp gauge on my 5600 about a year ago. I have been meaning to find out what kind of temps are normal for a manual. Interesting to watch. I never knew how much heat you put in a tranny in overdrive. Towng that is.
  12. Way to go Rick Monday. I remember that one well. No big baseball fan but it was on all the news channels. All 6 of them.
  13. Mikey, just swap in a 5600, they dont even make them any more what could be the problem; I have a spare missing 4th gear you can use for a core. Shoot core charge on a 5600 is only $1000.
  14. Sure am sorry to hear of the tranny woes. I am a little surprised you are not going to build it yourself. After all the things you tell us we can rebuild I thought the 4500 would be one you would tackle. But to each his own and no disrespect intended. I have the 5600 and would not touch it. I lost 4th in mine about 120k ago and just bought one from a junk yard. Still set me back 2.5K. Sucked but it still works fine. Anyway good luck on the route you take. The moon is getting closer every day. Only about 60K for some of us.
  15. That could be an option. I think I would enjoy starting jobs for others, getting them out of the ground is one of my strong points. I can get a building into sheet rock and wall finishes in about 4 weeks. Done a few in 3 weeks. Of course alot that depends on how much grading has to happen first. It is the most fun for me because you get to see alot big things happen quickly. While the time to retire is shorter than ever alot can happen in 2 years 10 months and 13 days.
  16. That is mighty fine. I remember all the stuff we used to do by hand when I was a carpenter. Set almost everything by hand. I started out on 2 man framing crew. Had help with the floor systems and roofs but the rest was me and my BIL. It was a lot more fun and simple back then. Nail guns, too expensive, we just hand drove everything. The things I want miss at all is all the osha crap and being responsible for everyone. And my personal favorite, Storm Water Management. A lot of my job is pretty much a glorified Baby sitter. When I have good subs it is easier but some of the "adults" I have to deal with will leave scratching your head. I probably want be out of it completely. My employer has expressed an interest in me helping them after retirement and I might build a job a year for them or just go get some jobs started for them until the free up another super. only time will tell.
  17. Me? Count? You bet your sweet arse!!!
  18. My understanding is the buildings I build are about 25% over engineered. I have never had a structural deficiency that was hard to overcome. Bare in mind I build one story structures that are usually less then 25' tall. The higher you go the more engineering is involved. The engineering is very different depending on where you are. Wind loading is a big one and seismic seems to be a bigger concern than I have seen in the past. I dont seem to be able to build the same any where anymore. 2 years 10 months and 2 weeks or there abouts and I quit worrying about it.
  19. I have no idea on the flash ability of your ECM. But Dodge offering a fully flashed ECM for $1500 sets me back.
  20. Looks like the load sits the truck well. No squatting rear end. Stock suspension or have you beefed it up at all?
  21. i need one of these. Fits the job I am on at the moment.
  22. Well I replaced the flasher and got the signals to work and only the right side flashed on the 4 ways. So I plugged in a new MF switch and now they all work. One thing I noticed was that the IAT and the ECT sensors matched. I had never paid much attention to them until reading a couple of threads stating they should. Started watching them a couple months and noticed they were always off by 5 or 6 degrees. They matched on start up after the swap. I have been experiencing some throttle surging for a while now and that too was not present. I do have times when it does not so I will keep watching it. I was looking a wiring diagrams hoping to see something in common with the switch and any sensors such as a ground that might be shared thru the switch but could not cyhper anything out. When the signals all quit working the surging got pretty crazy. i have also had times it does not surge so this might just be one of those times. Mean while I will just keep an eye on everything.
  23. Well I drove home from work yesterday and no signals or flashers. I guess a new multi function switch is most likely in my future.
  24. The stiffness in the switch only happened a few times and not every time. it has not done it all using the new key. The old is thin and the cuts in the key all rounded off. So I am figuring the key was the cause of the stiffness. The codes it threw have not come back either. Just got in the truck and the turn signals are working. Probably not the flasher in the fuse box. I did wiggle it some maybe the connection is dirty. I will have to do some checking. Do you have a wiring diagram for the starter switch?
