  1. Welcome. Nice truck and camper. What vintage is the camper?
  2. Welcome Lance. Have not seen 48 in some years be I wont hold that against you. I am right at 360k on mine all with help of the members here.
  3. What part # Dana's did you use?
  4. My heater core was not leaking, just the evaporator so I did not have that issue. \ Also I think this probably should be in the non power train section instead of here. I put it here by mistake.
  5. i dont know what someone chargers for the work but when we determined that my ac leak had to be in the evaporator and that it would cost somewhere in the neighborhood of $900. I never priced it anywhere else, just did it myself. I would do them for that all day long.
  6. I got a YETI cooler here. Maybe we can strap it on that Gator and see how long the ice lasts. By what i have read the ice ought to outlast the beer.
  7. I am using the same military style clamps as you and they do work very well. I have also started using motor oil on them and have had almost 0 corrosion on any of them. The thing i like about the clamps is you cont have to mess with them to disconnect the batteries. I have a tendency to over tighten them and with these it is not an issue.
  8. Seems I am seeing a lot of folks with problems that are going to require removal of the dash to fix. Be it a bad heater core. ac evaporator or cracked dash. I am stating this to let anyone know that this is NOT a difficult job as some would make it out to be. it can be time consuming but there is nothing special you have to do to accomplish this.No special tools are required, just standard stuff. Mike has a good write that I used and the LMC dash i bought had some good instructions to. I took mine out and replaced the dash and rebuilt the hvac box. I spent 2 to 2.5 days to do mine working at my leisure to accomplish it. I would recommend that if you have to go into your dash fore any of the above reasons, replace it all or you will just be back in there again. And again it is not hard to do just budget some time if you are unsure of yourself and the rewards will be worth it.
  9. Mine just cracked all over. It started from one of the screws at the windshield came across and then started from another one and they just started connecting with each other. When I bought my LMC dash I also got the washers they recommended. Not sure they were going to do any good, but bought them any way for insurance. They are supposed to spread the load on the holes for the screws. Only time is going to tell on them anyway.
  10. Once the wood is in your blood, you cant get it out.
  11. Same to you Bill. Good kitchen knives are hard to beat. We bought a bunch of Calphalon knives a while back and they still work nicely. Merry Christmas to all here at M1973M.
  12. Do it all and be done with it.
  13. I used multiple kinds just don't remember what. Just looked at what was in there and bought the closest to it I could find.
  14. One thing I ran into when doing mine was the foam gaskets were in rough shape. I bought some similar foam at the building supply and cut it to fit . Everything still seems to be working fine, Not a real good way to check on it. As long as all is working good I guess the home made gaskets are holding,
  15. My grids are disconnected for now and mine acts similar to what you are describing. Never looked at the tack to see it it was dropping but it does sound like it. I have not seen many cold days yet this winter.
  16. When you pull the fuse is it necessary to pull the hot lead off of the alternator. Seems I remember some folks saying you had to do both.
  17. I am running a 4" Banks exhaust with about 36" straight thru muffler. Sounds good not to loud. I do get some drone and one day I will add an FTE resonator. Might even swap it for the muffler and see what happens.
  18. The Heater Treater thing for the blend door maybe?
  19. I replaced them my self. It is quite easy to do. There is one o ring on the cross over tube near the end where the fuel line attaches and the other end just seats into the injector. The injectors have an o ring on upper end and a sealing washer on the other end in the head. If you are getting fuel in crank case it is more likely getting in thru the injector o ring and not the cross over tube. If the crossover tube o ring is leaking you would see fuel on the head. It is quite easy to do. I did the injector and cross over tubes in my son in law's drive way in about 3 hours with very basic tools. I do not know what it would cost to have someone do it for you. Were you able to determine that you have fuel in the oil? If you dont doing the above wont solve your problem.
  20. Yeah. Like the Oscar Meyer wiener mobile. Thats alotta dog.
  21. You are welcome. It was a good part with great instructions to install and index the door.
  22. I thought thats what it might be. I have seen a micro switch at Geno's IIRC. Have thought about doing it just too many other things keep getting in the way.
  23. Is that a switch I see in there? What does it operate?
  24. All it has to do is keep the mirror above freezing to shed the ice. The freezers that we install in restaurants all have a heater in the door to keep the gaskets from freezing to the door frame. The used to get so hot that you could not leave them on unless the freezer was on. They would actually melt the gasket material. Many years ago they all changed over to ones that you cannot feel the heat in them any more but the melt the ice. So they dont really have to feel warm to do the job.
